  1. Bass player John Giblin has passed away - one of the top guys with Joan Armatrading, Simple Minds, et al.
  2. There's a Portuguese meat shop in Roslin, of all places. Has there ever been a more obvious front for money laundering?
  3. I think it's expected and acceptable that there would we teething issues, and they should be able to use the learning to improve things. There does seem to be a problem with officials, though, and I doubt we'll ever get away from that.
  4. A foul in the box is pretty much always going to be a penalty. The rules around handball are all over the place, and need to be addressed in the summer, if the authorities can be bothered - they probably think it's all working just fine. Consistency of thought? Never gonna happen.
  5. Cannae see that happening any time soon, like - what's the award if an attacking player is fouled in the box, but it's not a scoring opportunity? Indirect free kick? Nothing? The rules around VAR and handball in particular absolutely must be looked at in the summer. It does seem silly when pens are awarded for softish fouls while deliberate pushing and holding at set pieces is ignored.
  6. I agree that refs in Scotland are c***s, but are you saying a foul in the box has to be a goal scoring opportunity before it's a penalty?
  7. True - I don't suppose Atkinson for Hill would make much difference anyway. The team looks a wee bit top heavy to me, but we'll see what occurs.
  8. You have to give credit to Barry Robson and aiberdeen for winning seven games on the trot, including a win over glasgow rangers. We are where we are because we've been poor. The table doesn't lie.
  9. Why did I have to miss this game? That's much more like it the day.
  10. I'm gonnae say naw. Quite an attacking line up from Hearts. Atkinson will get forward from RB, but will he get his arse torn from RC's left wing like last time? Good to see Haring in the team, but he might be short of fitness. A start for Oda, so a chance for him to show what he has. Cochrane in for Kingsley has to be good - Forrest on the bench should also be good. Ginnelly should add a bit of zip. Score draw.
  11. Well - I, for one, am delighted that we now finally have a full-scale discussion on the merits or otherwise of the coaching skills of John 'Yogi' Hughes. Whatever else folk might want to say about the aforementioned J'Y'H, the guy was a decent coach whose record has been somewhat tarnished by his most recent coaching gigs. Score draw the morn - shree-shree, probably.
  12. Decent statement from Snodgrass this morning saying all the right things. Robert Snodgrass: Midfielder 'gutted' after sudden Hearts exit - BBC Sport Not really saying that much, and it's from his point of view, obviously, but it obliquely suggests that there is/was more than just one shitebag in the dressing room. You have to wonder why it's only him that's left, though.
  13. Is it worth asking why players like Shankland and Halliday were away on their holidays during the recent international break? I'm assuming the rest of the players did likewise? I'm all for making sure players get enough rest, but could that time not have been better spent?
  14. Would like to see Kuol in - Pollock too, if he's fit enough. Oda is the same as Forrest for me - just don't see what they offer the team.
  15. I just can't see how Forrest merits a start, and Cochrane should be starting ahead of Kingsley. Maybe it was because Naismith had talked about giving chances to folk who hadn't had opportunities, then fielding a mix of the usual suspects.
  16. It was naïve for anyone to think the changes that were made during the week would solve everything straight away. Once Neilson had left, I was one of the c***s wanting Naismith to be put in charge, mainly based on seeing him play, and thinking 'that guy will be a manager one day.' I wasn't impressed by his team selection, and he hasn't been able to get the players organised and motivated enough to get a result in the derby. It's only one game, though - best hope is for an improved performance and result against Ross County that could build confidence, but County are a decent side - especially for a club that are rooted to the foot of the table.
  17. Is there any guaranteed way of killing them all?
  18. I think he was trying to avoid hanging Snodgrass out to dry publicly - he had to talk about it as it was the elephant in the room, and he was asked about it, but he couldn't just come out and destroy the boy - I reckon Snoddy looks bad enough as it is. I do agree Naismith was a wee bit mealy-mouthed, but that must have been a tough thing to articulate in his first interview in the role - most managers/coaches interviews are the usual clichés in different orders. Bit of a baptism of fire for Naismith, and he has a derby tomorrow - I think he just has to do what comes naturally, whatever that is. Snodgrass must feel like a massive cock at the moment.
  19. Aye, that's probably what it is right enough - take three points, bro!
  20. I'm not sure that moving a player on to make the coach's life easier (if that is actually what has happened) is great management - some would say it's better to try to get the player onside - what do I know? Interesting that Naismith is using the word 'suspension' - would that not imply some sort of breach of discipline, etc? If Naisy has moved Snod on for being celtic, then fair enough. The facts are that: There was unrest in the dressing room; and Snodgrass is emptied at the first opportunity. That's a bad look for Snodgrass.
  21. It shouldn't be that hard for media types to see that Neilson was blowing third place, which would mean the club missing out on a lot of cash. If Neilson had stayed, I'd be surprised if we'd have gained a maximum of 5 points from the remaining 7 games, if that. We weren't going to finish 4th or 5th, never mind 3rd, As great as the pressure from the fans was, money talks. It don't sing and dance, etc... Edited to add - Naismith might not end up doing any better, but we might have given ourselves a chance by acting now.
