Only a few years ago st cadocs were boasting of a 6,000 all seater stadium in the mearns area and that they would be in the SPL in ten years time , I wonder if there are any updates on the 6k stadium and how it's coming along ...............

Don't remember anything about a 6,000 all seater stadium. Sure you're not thinking of EKFC as I can't think of any other non-league team talk in those kind of terms.

St Cadoc's Crookfur Park proposal I vaguely remember was the more typical "we're going to create a community hub"

I just named one example of a groundshare that works, one in this area that I'm familiar with. But it shows groundshares can work just fine so a blanket ban wouldn't be justified. Also, not every groundshare in the west is bad either.

The way I understand it Montrose Roselea starting using Links Park as a trial to see if it would work around the SPFL schedule. It was also done after the artificial pitch had been put in place. Once it was proven it could work it, the intention is for it to be a permanent deal. They also kept their original ground and have still used it on occasion.

It's a situation people would like when talking about groundsharing.

To move away from the extremes of Broomhill & the former Rossvale. There's Edinburgh South that started out of town in Dalkeith and now ended up at Edinburgh Utd's ground. Got them back in the city, but there's no belief that it's a permanent situation.

St Cadoc's haven't played in Newton Mearns and doesn't look to anytime soon. Having moved from St Anthony's to Benburb.

St Peter's are meant to be a Paisley side, playing out of Renfrew. Are they any closer to playing to something permanent.

Finnart might not be groundsharing, but they were accepted with a very basic cage during the 'Division 4' Development Division period. Talk of Glasgow Green has turned to Crownpoint. If that fails what then? Knightswood just joined from a side pitch at Scotstoun that I doubt's any better than Springburn. What are they hoping to do long term considering we've seen the difficulties of all these other Glasgow area teams struggle.

Can't quite work out what is wrong with ground sharing on either a short or long term basis.

In theory nothing, but in practice it can make you question the point of a club trying to operate at this level. Broomhill being the most extreme example, they are about to start their 10th season and have played in 4 different grounds in 4 different towns/city.

Rossvale didn't do too badly either going Petershill-Huntershill-New Tinto-Petershill. Where they seem to have settled having given up on the idea of being a Bishopbriggs team and becoming Caledonian Locos.

No it's not, it would be good to know if teams do need to produce a business/future plan to obtain a stadium before joining the league, which you'd think given we are now in a pyramid system that would be a requirement

I think part of the problem has been that some of these clubs have had plans, but reality isn't something within their control. Finnart i'm sure had intentions around Glasgow Green and now bidding on Crownpoint. If they get it good for them. If they don't it just leads to more questions around their plans.

It does seem strange to me that teams have been allowed to step up without their own stadium.
I would not pass negative comment on any as don't have the full facts to hand or the plans in place from these clubs to rectify their homeless situation. It might even be the case part of the criteria of joining was to provide a plan to the beaks thar they would have a stadium within a certain amount of years.
I think without knowing the full facts you just need to applaud these teams for being ambitious and making the step up

It's not exactly without precedent. Just on a larger scale with the numbers involved. When Clydebank joined I don't imagine anyone thought their original ground situation would be long term. Same with Rossvale who started at Petershill. Not sure what people thought about Gartcairn other than a lot of work need to be done.

How would this have worked in practice?

We already know from how the East Region and EoSFL played out. COVID uncertainities would have helped drag things out rather than boundary issues.

WoSFL would try and get a 2020-21 season played regardless, with it being a proper mix of clubs likely could get away with Tier 6 Conferences. What's left of the Juniors probably leave starting until crowds could come in. Trying to figure out what their structure would be.

2021 all those 'Division 4' clubs would apply to the WoSFL and that probably forces the Juniors hand into joining the WoSFL.

  7. Since there's only been a handful of clubs in contention for the WoS Premier, I doubt anyone has given the Lowland League more than a superficial glance.

Don't most of these kind of conversations trend negatively anyway?

Lowland a hurdle to the SPFL. You mean 4x a season, higher ticket prices and just think of all that travel :(

Thoughts on the Premier: Where's the fixture list? Why'd we get so and so mid-week? I see 'they' got the better fixtures, the fix is in!

I thought Edinburgh and Stirling were allowed to sign whoever they liked? They didn't have to be students to play for them or am I mistaken?

Any restrictions they have are self-imposed.

AEW now at almost 75K sold for All In.

You can see why WWE are now openly discussing a potential UK Wrestlemania. Two nights at a sold out Wembley would do ludicrous business for them, even without the financial incentives they normally expect for running big overseas shows.

The two WM, Raw and Smackdown at the o2. NXT Takeover(s).

Problem is it makes the pyramid and Wosfl pointless if the Ayrshire villages strangle the ambitious from moving up.

Might qs well be the West Juniors cul de sac/rabbit hole.

Feel sorry for the likes of Clydebank and Pollok.

If it's still the case there's only one promotion place to the Lowland League after this season, then it's not the old Junior mentality strangling the pyramid.

I see WOSFL have managed to get another sponsor for the league - Huws Gray. Well done.

While South Challenge Cup is struggling for a sponsor and Lowland League will hoping Parks Motor Group don't renege in their sponsorship for this season after Rangers B pulled out. It does show that the WOSFL / even SJFA seem to be better at pulling in sponsors that is really hard for any lower league clubs / leagues.

Not a new sponsor. They just bought out PDM buildbase.

You would have to ask if there's been a renewed deal or not.

As for the SJFA as far as I'm aware they & the SCC are starting the season without sponsors again.

From back in May, constitution not updated on website so don't know if it went through and whether it's actually prize money or a guarantee...

This season’s prize for the winners sits at £12,000. But under a proposal put to member clubs that will almost double for next year’s competition which could see one of the biggest entries with all clubs from tier 5 downwards invited to apply.

An SJFA spokesman said: “Next season we are proposing no fees from our member clubs for the fourth year running and a once only offer to any clubs outwith Junior membership to give them free entry to participate in our great tournament as we believe they will see a benefit in it going forward.

"We believe this is an attractive proposition for a truly national trophy."

The proposed change to the prize pot will also see the runner-up banking £10,000, losing semi-finalists £5000, losing quarter finalists £1000 and £500 to each of the teams knocked out in the last 16 plus £100 for those going out in the last 32.

As you say depends on prize money or guarantees. I'm leaning more to guarantees since that's been the standard and it would otherwise beg the question where the money's coming from? No sponsor, no membership fees for the last few years going by that article. Forked out the £400 per club that completed fixtures last season.

so why cant the premier league games be released

what league are they in 2 or 3

only affects one league so get the rest out

    Second.

And I supposed because it might be pulling at a thread. Glasgow Uni game(s) might need moved. Does that me a Yoker/St Anthony's/Cumbernauld Utd/Caledonian Locos fixture needs moved? Think that's the other groundshares that exist within the division.

Can work out it from the gaps in the SPFL calendar, assuming it's the same format as last season.

Prelim - 2 September (Alex Jack Cup round 2)

R1 - 23 September (based on Highland League fixtures gap)

    R2 - 28 October

    R3 - 25 November

    Last 32 - 20 January

    Last 16 - 10 February

    QF - 9 March

Semi - presumably 20 April before the split

    Final - 25 May

Did the numbers work out that there's no need for a 2nd Prelim this year? Haven't been paying attention.

Because the first 3 Lowland games do not clash with the SPFL as it doesn't start till August 5th.

League fixtures might not start till then, but the League Cup group stage fixtures were known. That's why they were able to work around it.
