  1. They need to change the rules so that you only get a free tyre change under a Red if it's a Red for cataclysmic weather, or if there is a safety concern with the set you park the car on.
  2. 50 laps of utterly processional shite coming up at the restart. They'll all just jump to Hards, so zero pitstops unless some berk chucks it into the scenery and there's yet another Safety Car.
  3. FFS. Utter turd of a track this place.
  4. So it's not just 'Muricans that habitually make a pigs ear of a completely over-sung anthem then.
  5. It's not just the awful defence, he's been abject with the bat since the moment he arrived in SD. He's so obsessed with walks that he stares at anything straight down the pipe and over the middle of the plate, and he will only swing at stuff up out of the strikezone, so he rolls over the top of it more or less every time he makes contact and drags a soft grounder to 2nd. The reason I said Hosmer specifically is because the groundball outs more or less every time he actually swings and total defensive liability are all very Hosmer-esque. TBH I was puzzled why they didn't resign Profar and think about DH'ing Soto to begin with, because he's going to be the obvious glaring weak-link in the field once Tatis is back from PED jail. Carpenter I can understand because they lacked bats with a bit of slug all the way up to the ASB last season, but signing Cruz I just don't understand, even at 1m, and I'm not sure why they felt the need to go after Bogaerts when they could have brought back Profar, Drury, and gone after another SP and had a much stronger roster all around. They've already downgraded on the middle-infield by promising Bogaerts he'll play SS over Kim, and he's already shown he doesn't have Kim's range and athleticism in just two games, so the only place they have actually gotten better on D is at 1st, where they are playing a natural 2nd baseman. I love the fact SD finally has an owner willing to spend money, it's all very exciting etc after years of watching 90+ loss seasons, but some of the decisions are questionable to say the least and scream of the owner demanding square pegs are forced into round holes, rather than the staff being permitted to assemble and play the best team possible. I'm not actively hoping for this to happen because it will be murderous to watch but after spending all this money, if this team repeats last season, goes days on end without scoring a run, is perpetually futile with RISP, and still struggles to get up towards 90 wins, then something is going to have to give. It's the Rockies, the Pads perpetual bogey team, but so far the Pads look exactly like the Pads of 2022 where 3 in 4 games they'd produce absolutely nothing offensively and waste a ridiculous number of quality pitching starts. I'm also utterly sick of the Pads offensive futility being blamed on Petco being a pitchers dream, when opponents regularly turn up and have no problems at all collecting hits, homers, and runs.
  6. Soto rapidly becoming my most hated Padre since Eric Hosmer
  7. Much better episode this week. I think if you are going to run a series on 30-40 minute episodes weekly, then there needs to be a bit of meta-story advancement every week to hold interest. The previous couple of episodes just felt like stand-alone vignettes, and to me that's the sort of thing you include as 'specials', one-offs, Web releases etc. They're a bit incongruent, and while they're not necessarily bad TV in their own right, they don't really help with the flow of the series.
  8. Eh, so Juan Soto is just as useless in LF as he is in RF.
  9. Has he not noticed that the bulk of the comments decrying the sight of a Muslim family observing their religion inside Bute House are coming from the usual folk with Union Flags, Rangers crests etc in their bios? I mean, it's the same 'SNPbad' lot every single time it's something SNP-related, but it's one thing to claim Scotland only puts up a veneer of being a tolerant nation, another thing to sleekitly hint at that when its people who are invariably your own voters you are implying are racist, intolerant fuckwits. I know Murdo is a moron, but surely he can see the enormous self-own here?
  10. I'm sure The Free Speech Union must be keeping a waking vigil on this thread.
  11. I'll be surprised if it doesn't come out in the next few weeks that he's done something stupid in prison in the aftermath of this decision. Almost understandable under the circumstances, but also shows exactly why it's probably the correct decision. Pretty sure the last time he tried to batter a prison governor was in the aftermath of a parole hearing in 2018 or thereabouts.
  12. Worst shorts in the history of international football, and wearing them with red socks should have seen us banned from all UEFA competition for decades.
  13. Back when it was the GC lot they are known to the admins, they were kb'd every single time they applied for tickets in their own names because of prior behaviour inside the building, so Tory MSP's booked gallery seats as a block for "guests" and handed them the tickets. Doubt anyone actually wants the ecomentalists in there, but i wouldn't put it past the Greens
  14. Happy Opening Day boys and girls
  15. That's totally unfair, and you should be ashamed of yourself. There are a few who are Airdrie fans anaw.
  16. Have they actually scheduled a wee homecoming trip to Coburg?
  17. Yeah, makes sense that if you tailor your sport to being broadcast mainly to males (and that's the reality of it) with the opportunity to lounge around the house for an entire day glued to the TV, then Sunday is the day to do it. It's the most 'family/rest and relaxation' day there is, whereas until recently many people would still have worked a full day on a Saturday, and shops being open etc means people are less likely to be spending the entire day indoors.
  18. I don't think that's true. I'm a Tierney fan, and I have always thought he's a better LB than Robertson, but I will also say that when he plays CB he usually has two or three instances a game where he either gets easily beaten in the air or otherwise shows that he isn't a genuine CB. Last night he stood and watched the ball bounce right in front of him no more that 4-5 yards from his own goal because there were a few bodies in the vicinity and he clearly didn't trust himself to jump and head it clear. As I said, I'm a fan, and I think he's a better all-around player than Robertson, but to me it's clear he has deficiencies playing at CB and I fully expect that to be shown up again and again if we persist in playing him there. It's being hypercritical to point it out every single time it happens, because full-time CB's lose headers or get mugged sometimes as well, but my only point is that he's clearly far weaker at CB than he is at LB because he has some obvious deficiencies that would preclude most players from playing there, even though for the most part we get away with it.
  19. I completely agree with you in terms of wider prestige, but for me personally I always felt that qualifying for the eight team Euro '92 finals was a greater achievement than any of our World Cup Finals qualifications, as it meant being one of only 7 to get through Quali v's the 8 UEFA nations who had to do so to get to WC'74, and 10 UEFA nations at WC'78. We were playing exactly the same pool of nations to get there, so for me it was objectively a more difficult proposition and a bigger achievement to do it. I accept that my view is probably clouded somewhat by the fact that qualifying for World Cups back then was almost taken for granted, and by contrast getting to the Euros was something we had never successfully achieved, but nonetheless, I don't recall any sensation of 'Wow! We've actually gone and done it!' when we got to WC'86, or Italia '90, but that's exactly how I felt when I saw the Bulgaria v Romania result come up on Teletext in the pub
  20. He's suffering from a serious case of angry wee man syndrome, and it's inevitable he's going to repeat the whole Ego v's Dugdale legal farce at some point. No doubt the begging bowl will be shaken extra-vigorously when it occurs.
  21. I once stood in among a load of Arabs and watched Dundee win a Dundee Derby from the TC Keay end at Dens. It was a bet by former schoolmates that I wouldn't do it. But DFC won the match, I won the bet, and I managed to restrain myself from giving it a GIRFUY and getting my head kicked in when Joe McBride's freekick went 'ping' when it hit the inside of the post then nestled into the back of the net. I've said 10 'Alan Gilzeans' before bed every night since just on the off chance there is an afterlife and I have to give an account of myself.
