Dreadful game of football but a brilliant day. I was only 14 but nicked 4 cans of Kestrel from the kitchen and drank them with my mate in the woods. Can remember every detail like it was yesterday. Last ever goal to be scored in the classic style Hampden goals.

Ground was cleared and lay empty for years. Houses built on it now. All streets named after St Mirren legendsvoted for by the fans.

The old main stand at Love Street was done and would cost too much to replace. The deal from Tesco came at the right time to clear debt and move to a modern stadium. It really did save the club.
