  1. No arguments on the Crighton, Lithgow debate, Lithgow playing LB infront of Longridge is a poor decision which will hopefully be rectified. I can understand why Crighton is playing at RB though, Halkett is a better CB and Crighton has a very decent cross on him. Id like to know your 6 or 7 championship quality players...Gallagher, Jacobs probably but both just signed, maybe Buchanan but after that we have players that failed at that level in the past, Longridge, Halkett, Pittman, Mullen all failed with us last season, Cadden hasn't played at that level, De Vita has been really poor since returned and think he'd struggle in the championship now, Byrne was free to leave a promoted Dunfermline which says to me they didn't see him making the step up. Josh Mullin played a bit of championship football last season but not enough to make judgement. We have a good squad of players for this level. East Fife and Queens Park have proved very problematic this season no arguments, but maybe they are due some credit as well. It must be a nightmare to play at Livingston if you're a Livingston player, i go to all games home and away and the players look far more relaxed away from home, the teams coming to us must play on the negativity. I also posted about this in the cup thread but is our bog pitch got something to do with our poor play at home also, because we do generally play much better football away from home ? But that's taking away from the point. Hopkin has been given the task to get us promoted back to the championship, if we do that, and we are well on coarse to do that then he has succeeded, no matter what he has at his disposal, bigger and stronger teams have failed to do it over the last few years. Why should we have the right to just assume we can turn up each week and win easy.
  2. I know I'm in the minority here but I back Hopkin. It just comes across like he can't win, we've won more than we've lost, and we've played some good stuff in a lot of those games, for a spell in Peterhead a couple weeks back I saw Livi playing some of the best football I've seen from a Livi team, but you never see a thread saying well done Hoppy, set up the team great today, what you see is...he played great, what a performance from this guy etc etc, well if the players get all the credit for winning and playing well, shouldn't they take the blame for poor performances ? As ive said in the past I'm not his biggest fan, I wanted him to go at the end of last season just like most others but he's the manager, every single fan of the club said at the start of the season the league is the most important thing, we need to win promotion, well we are 9 points clear with a game in hand, we are well on track to do just that. Yesterday was disappointing, it was a chance to progress and get a good draw in the cup but it just didn't happen, it happens sometimes. We seem to think we have a formidable team but we are a league 1 team for a reason, we have league 1 players with the exception of 1 or 2, I see some arguments that if we get promoted we'll just come straight back down with this team and manager, well wait and see, to me that stinks of disrespect to the rest of this division. Hopkin will never win at this club because the fan base can't get over how bad we where last season. Bring in someone with experience...like Mcglynn, Hughes....that worked well, ok bring someone in that's young and HOPE they do a job like Jack Ross...like Burchill...it's a conveyer belt of managers at Livingston, we've done experienced, we've done young and enthusiastic, let's try stability for a change.
  3. Absolutely dreadful but yet 3 games played against your lot, 3 wins and 10 points clear of you, but hey as long as you're having a good wee laugh about it all
  4. Looks like McMillan won't be signing after all, he's signed with Clyde.
  5. Quick season review so far... http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/local-sport/livingston-fc-fan-blog-lions-9652019#ICID=sharebar_facebook
  6. Could be something in that you know, we had about 20 players down trialing with us the other day. In other news I see Ryan Currie has departed the club, lad never really got a chance and probably wasn't going to so makes sense for both parties.
  7. I actually think from 1 to 11 most teams are fairly evenly matched, but after that we have by far the biggest squad with the most depth in the league which is why I predicted we would win the league, still a long way to go but we are well on track ATM. Absolutely, Jack Ross was doing a terrific job and I think if he'd still been there they wouldn't be on such a poor run, but as you say we will never know, but as I said in the original post if a team has a good coach and is well set up then they could beat anybody, just as East Fife and Queen's Park have been doing. No doubt about it, I'd say combining PT football with a job is paying significantly more than any Livi or Airdrie players.
  8. I have to say what an incredible season you're having, I've been so impressed by yourself's and Queens Park. As you say full time football isn't everything, if the team is well coached, set up properly and works hard then you've always got a chance against anybody. I've always questioned the benefits of being full time over part time, at this level being full time doesn't necasserally get you the best players, sometimes being a top part time club gets you all the best part time players but being a lower full time club gets you all the left overs from other teams. We've been fortunate this season, on the whole we've built a very decent team for this level, all be it not really shown it against yourselves but next season if we do gain promotion (long way to go) we will need to improve even further which will be much harder as we will be a small fish surrounded by bigger fish who will take the better players leaving us again with the scraps.
  9. Wooooo, another award for the club In all seriousness though, someone can call the ground whatever the hell they like as long as we get a decent bit of money for it. Some brilliant names amongst that video lol
  10. Morgyn Neill to Stranraer confirmed, and Danny Mullen the first of a few to extend his contract until next summer
  11. Yeh I tweeted asking funnily enough, hopefully they've not made a cock up and it's just a problem with the website.
  12. Yep, I'd expect us to have 3 or 4 players tied down on extended contracts before the Scottish cup game. I think Pitts and Halkett are most important, build a team around those two.
  13. Liam Kelly extending his loan until the end of the season today, excellent news.
  14. My apologies I misread your post, I do understand what your trying to say, but as I said in an earlier post the highest wage we'll be paying this season will be £400. Gallagher had offers from elsewhere for much higher wages and when I say much higher I mean double but wanted to sign with us because we stuck by him in the past.
  15. Aww such a cutie, don't be insecure just tell me you like me btw excellent contribution to this adult conversation, thank you.
  16. "Both of these players will be on closer to double £300" so £550 then ? It's just not happening, as much as you want to keep believing it, it's not happening.
  17. I can assure you that Livingston aren't paying anywhere near £600pw in wages, as I said further up the maximum wage we will be handing to anyone would be around £350-£400. Most of our squad is paid between 2-300 a week, with 3 or 4 on the higher £350-400 and youth players probably on less.
  18. I'm not saying we don't have any players on that, but we certainly won't be paying any more than that in wages, most of our team are on between 2-300pw some below that some like you say above that, youth players will likely be on less.
  19. Read again What I said was we released 2 players that's freed up £300, we have now released another which frees up another £200 and likely 1 or 2 more will be released which will free up another £400. We have brought in 2 and likely 1 more. I can assure you that we won't be paying any player at Livingston anything over £350-£400pw
  20. My bad, wasn't you it was DAF, my sincere apologies Anyway to reply to DAF, quite the opposite, they have allowed him to move players on and bring new players in, if they didn't have faith in him he wouldn't be allowed to do this. To answer both of you Watt has mutually agreed to terminate his contract because he has a deal lined up with Brechin which btw will increase his weekly wage. Think that tells a story in itself.
  21. It was, we've signed a player, who we've had to pay a fee for and its not worked out. It wasn't a poor piece of business on his quality.
  22. I never said he was a bad player, Hopkin probably saw a player capable of playing in the first team for Livingston Fc, as I say though he's been unfortunate to find Scott Pittman in the form of his life and Byrne and Miller slotting in nicely, and with Cadden and Mullin too he found himself unable to break into the team. Watt just been released, 2 young lads released the other day and I'd imagine Morgyn Neill will likely move on as well.
  23. Certainly been a poor piece of business, Watt came in with a good reputation for this league, scored goals for both Brechin and Airdrie last season. Hes been unfortunate to come into the club at a time when we have an array of good quality midfielders and has ended up being back up. Think it's fair for both parties that he is now allowed to progress his career at Brechin where he will certainly be playing week in week out and it frees up yet another wage for us to improve the squad again. Best of luck to the lad, just didn't work out.
