  1. How are we losing, very frustrating and showing how big a miss Dykes is today.
  2. If there was a team that I felt properly got the better of us last season it was Aberdeen, but with both teams having so many injuries it’s a tough one to call. As mentioned above Dykes is a huge miss for us and a tough man to replace, everything that’s been good about us so far this season has really been down to how he’s been playing up top. Who knows what’s going on with the injured players but I reckon Robbo will be the man given the nod up front but Erskine isn’t a bad shout either. Stewart, Devlin, Lithgow, Guthrie, McMillan, Bartley, Jacobs, Pittman, Lawless, Erskine, Robinson. Id be surprised if Lamie is fit, hopefully Lithgow is back but again I’ve no idea if he will be, same goes for Pittman but if he’s fit he plays, and as I say it’s Robbo or Erskine, one wide one up top. Gonna go 1-1 here just because I can’t predict either teams line up.
  3. Nah didn’t mention it, hoping both are close to returning though, big players for us ahead of a big spell in the season.
  4. Gary Holt mentioned in his post match press conference that they will consider appealing the second yellow card, you can hear his interview on the latest podcast. I wasn’t aware that we could appeal the yellow myself but fingers crossed it’s a successful one if we do go ahead cos he’s been a huge player for us and will be a big miss against Aberdeen.
  5. We’ll give a good account of ourselves but likely come up short and be picked off by an impressive Rangers forward line. This is a bonus game so no pressure at all on us. Stewart, Devlin, Lithgow, Guthrie, Lamie, Bartley, Jacobs, Lawless, Pittman, Stobbs, Dykes.
  6. Not convinced McMillan was at fault, he was totally and utterly exposed, Souda was allowing his man to just run past him without doing anything special at all, making it just about impossible for McMillan as he was facing an overlapping run every time. I thought moving Souda to the 10 role and putting Lawless out wide would’ve made more sense given Lawless was played in a wing back role last season and as has been said Souda is an exciting player going forward who can open up teams, that to me would’ve protected McMillan a bit better.
  7. New episode available now, it includes a feature length interview with Ricki Lamie plus loads more. All episodes on our website - TalkLiviPodcast.libsyn.com Or just search TalkLivi on your preferred streaming sites.
  8. Great win considering the build up to the game, being without the manager, missing 4 big first team players and still coming out on top shows what this team is made of. I actually think that’s probably the poorest we’ve been so far in the league which is understandable given the reasons above but we dug in and ground out the 3 points. Given we now have Rangers, and Aberdeen after the break I think it was really important to get those 3 points, international break coming at the perfect time for us as well, gets some of these injured players back. Shocking defending for our first but great header from big Al, and good finish by Dykes for the 2nd, good bit of play by Erskine who I felt had a decent game today given the circumstances. Souda is so good going forward but defensively poor, he lost his man nearly every time St Mirren game forward, luckily they had very little end product, but against better sides I can see him dropping to the bench. 2 wins and 2 draws the start the season, excellent stuff.
  9. That was my thinking at the start of the season tbh but Bartley is better than I was expecting, I thought he might just be that player to break up the play but he has been driving forward well which is the role I thought Lawson would play beside him. I agree on Robbo, he makes us tick, such a clever player and with good options round about him if he is fit he’s one of the first on the team sheet imo. Lawless has been excellent so far this season as well, not much of a surprise given he is a natural winger and not a winger back although he did do a job in that position. Not taking into account Sibbald, Erskine, Souda, Miller, Tiffoney, we have a very good squad to choose from and that may surprise a few fans of other clubs. We have good strength in depth.
  10. Tough game, St Mirren look better than expected, a bit like ourselves actually. I do think that we can pick them off though, I’ve said this already this season but we look far better going forward than last season and defensively not too bad, we didn’t make any mistakes at the weekend and only got outdone by a very decent team goal. Be prepared for us not to score now and lose 3-0 or something. Robbo made a big difference when he came on against Forfar and was excellent until his injury on the god forsaken grass in Dingwall so be interesting to see if he makes it, if not it’s a choice between a Stobbs and Souda to replace him, good options to have. Cant really see the defence changing, only other decision to make is Jacobs, who also went off early second half with a knock, if he’s fit he plays, if not it’s Crawford in you would think. Plenty options available to us this season, I’ve not even mentioned a Sibbald, Lawson, Miller to name just 3. Looking forward to the game.
  11. Just home and what a day and result, absolutely brilliant. Almost a year to the day since our last away league win, and it was on grass, who’d have thought we can win on grass again ? I don’t think I’ve seen us dominate a game so much for a long time, I was actually really annoyed it was only 3-1 at half time, it could and really should’ve been 6. Fantastic 4th goal to put the game to bed, was expecting so much better from County, but we just didn’t allow them to play. Great backing from the away fans as well, more of the same next week against St mirren.
  12. Looking forward to this, not been up since the days of the away terracing, shame it’s gone. Any Livi fan looking for a run up ? I’m taking a mini bus and have 3 seats left, give me a shout for more details. On that, presume there is parking for supporters buses at the ground ? On the game, I rate Ross County, think they will be absolutely fine this season, dangerous going forward with tricky wingers, wide areas are absolutely key here so wouldn’t surprise me if Souda is on the bench for this one given his lack of a defensive mind in comparison to a Robinson or a Lawless. There could be goals in this one.
  13. Dykes is better than Hardie, does much more for the team, bursts a gut when we don’t have the ball, at the turn of the year playing Hardie was like having a man short.
  14. Alright lads, i come in peace. I do a podcast mainly Livi related and feature a player interview every other week. This week we had Nicky Devlin on to chat about his career in which Dumbarton obviously came up. Feel free to give it a listen. I’ll post the link to our website but if you want to listen elsewhere we are on iTunes, Spotify, Soundcloud etc just search TalkLivi. http://talklivipodcast.libsyn.com/ Good luck for the season, great win at the weekend, loved the trips to Dumbarton, bowling club for a few pints before the game, and always very welcoming.
  15. Alright lads, i come in peace. I do a podcast mainly Livi related and feature a player interview every other week. 17. Job done, how it only finished 2-1 I’ll never know. Should've had another 3 or 4, Dykes missed a sitter, Pittman should’ve had another, pretty clear pen missed when Crawford got kicked in the face. Overall it was a really poor game but we are through. Robinson made us better second half, overall Dykes was motm for us but tells a story that McCallum was excellent in goals and the best player for Forfar and kept the score down.
  18. Thanks mate, I’d say it was our best interview yet tbh, Gary is so laid back and honest, made for a great interview.
  19. Even at this early stage this is a pretty big game for both clubs, St Johnstone because of such a poor start to the campaign, league cup and last weekend against Celtic and for us because these are the type of games we have to win or atleast take something from to stay clear of the bottom two spots. The game against Motherwell gave me a lot of confidence, think we looked a bit more savvy in terms of experience, Bartley an obvious one that adds experience but Devlin also adds that experience and voice to the team that perhaps we lacked across the pitch last season, Dykes also looks an improvement on Hardie and gives far more for the team. Agree with EL a lot depends on McMillan being fit, if he’s not and Pepe has to play CB I’d be concerned, if McMillan is fit I reckon we go with the same again in terms of line up. Don't see many goals in this, either a draw or a narrow 1-0 win for either side, hopefully us obviously.
  20. Holt mentions Wylde in his interview with us, says that they are partly to blame and that there is no ill feeling between the club and Gregg, but he’s been told he’s free to move on.
  21. You’ll probably all eventually get sick to death of me posting every week about this podcast but hey ho, here we are again. I don’t often bum up the podcast too much I don’t think, but this week is a must listen, Gary Holt was tremendous and is so open and honest it’s a great listen just for the interview alone. You can find us on all podcast providers by searching Talk Livi, or head over to our social media for the links. Our website is - TalkLiviPodcast.Libsyn.com Let me know your thoughts. Cheers
  22. Happy with the point but felt we maybe just edged it, Devlin chance was massive. Good hard earned point against a team that everyone is predicting to have a great season, good signs to take forward for the season. Shocker of a tackle on Devlin near the end, ref gave a yellow though so will escape any further punishment I presume that’s still the case ? Big game at St Johnstone next week already, can we rectify our away results starting with that ? It would be a massive result even at this early stage if we could.
  23. Tough game, predicting a top 6 finish for Motherwell this season. Will take a draw. Sarkic, Devlin, Lithgow, Lamie, McMillan, Jacobs, Bartley, Pittman, Lawless, Souda, Dykes.
  24. We’ve uploaded a new episode of TalkLivi, which I’m sure most of you by now know where to find the links, but if not we are on twitter and Facebook simply search for TalkLivi, we’ve posted the links. We recorded before the league cup draw was done but I think it’s fair to say we are all pretty happy with it. We’ve also updated all our art work and our crest, feel free to critique on the podcast and the new artwork. Cheers and enjoy.
