  1. Ach Wales are a different team at home. I'm still bemused and pissed off that the ref sent Russel off. The TMO is looking at that repeatedly. He's already decided that Russel should go, as if you're keeping a genuinely open mind you can't conclude that Russel has deliberately knocked that on. Imo that's the decision that's cost us the game. I don't think we lose if Finn Russel and the big number 12 are still on the pitch. Wales played very, very well and learned from a lot of their mistakes they made last time out. We had a few handling errors and weren't particularly patient in defence, which is unlike us. Russel's kicking was rubbish today.
  2. That's a poor decision. Russel can catch that if the boy doesn't barrel into him. How you can conclude that this is deliberate is beyond me. Bollocks
  3. Russel has been off it today. Wales really have the bit between their teeth with the crowd at their backs. Darcy Graham is a star though and we should be seeking to get him on the ball as often as possible. Smashing game this.
  4. I don't fully agree with that. He'd absolutely be getting sub appearances at the very least and probably a few cup appearances. I appreciate that Annan won't exactly be much of a test, but given that Rangers are still in three competitions he'd be getting game time. I hope that training alone gives him the fitness and sharpness to be what we need him to be against Ukraine, but I can't help thinking he'll be lacking by not playing.
  5. I'm delighted you posted that, I was about to stick a bet on him.
  6. Rudden is a purple patch type striker, so having scored last week he'll score a hat-trick in this game.
  7. Saying that Dark Knight Rises was pish isn't particularly edgy. The script was utterly inane and, watching it a second time minus the hype and excitement lays bare some of the flaws. It's definitely the poorer, by far, of the three. And @tamthebam pay no heed to misery guts grumpy gets like @The Moonster and feel absolutely free to share your achievements. There's enough negativity on this forum (so many negative threads) and in the world at large. Hefty congrats on the crossword. I got three clues in the herald one once. When I eventually complete one I'll be going full Marco Tardelli down my street.
  8. Cheers for this. I've been curious about how Lampard views him. It's not an ideal time for him right now what with a new manager and being plunged into a relegation battle. Ideally Everton would be knocking about mid table and there would be some breathing space to give him some game time. It's not great for us right now as he won't be match sharp.
  9. ^^^ never learned the square root of -1 type of post.
  10. What's this overly cautious pish? Needs to start against Ukraine.
  11. I thought Gannon's two footed lunge on Granda was the most shocking thing on this thread. But I'm now finding out after almost a decade up here that St Machar isn't a school for sonny jims.
  12. Also for the "modern shite patter" thread. I never heard the first one, but the latter two are particularly awful. See also [plural noun] gonna [same noun but in singular form and used as a fucking verb for some reason].
  13. Aye tbh I've done the same in that I've read a lot about it and doing so has given me a broader view. I'm glad you mentioned Brand as he's a huge admirer of Gabor Mate and his approach to addiction. My own therapeutic journey around it is going down the EMDR and somatic experiencing route. Drinking is just part of a larger pattern of emotional avoidance (see also social media, coffee, relationships, work etc......I dare say that applies to almost everyone and as Dr Mate says, we live in a society of addicts) so I'm not focussing purely on drinking, but what it represents and what I'm avoiding. Anyway, I'll save all that for my memoirs. Cheers for the tips.
  14. Massive props to @Shandon Par and @Richey Edwards for their efforts. I've read this thread from start to finish and I do feel a bit let down by some of the pretty dismissive responses. For some people giving up alcohol is a walk in the park. For others it's a herculean struggle to go a few days without it. I tend to drink once a week these days, but I do it solo, necking about 5 pints in quick succession. I've been an anti-social drinker for years now, but I'm doing it much less than I did about 3 years ago, where I'd go to the pub four times a week and drink 5 or 6 pints a time. I gave it up for Lent earlier in the year and was impressed that I managed that. I'd fuckin love to give it up for good. I know why I do it, it's a self soothe whenever I feel unwanted feelings coming up, and am working on alternative strategies. I'll confess to being a total coffee nonce in the pub though. Love a wee machiatto.
  15. spider man: no way home I'm not that into marvel stuff and much of it passed me by. This is fantastic though. I'm an absolute sucker for redemption arcs and this is full of them. Getting to see Tobey McGuire as Peter/Spidey again was an absolute treat and serves as a kind of elder statesman on this film. Garfield is wonderful too and his redemption story had me in tears. In fact I cried pretty hard at about four different bits of this movie. The plot is actually pretty straightforward, which was a relief considering it's got Dr Strange in it and the idea of parallel worlds tends to have me switching off. It's all wonderful though and the development of Holland's Spiderman is utterly compelling. I'll watch this again, no doubt. Utterly magnificent.
  16. Tbh companies whose selling point is removing hassle of research like "go compare", "compare the market" etc have probably done it right by making their ads memorably irritating. The meerkat one is outstandingly evil in its use of the child "pester factor". I don't know if it's been mentioned but there's a Wowcher advert with Katherine Ryan that had me catatonic with cringe. Adverts generally make me glad I don't have a telly.
  17. I'm personally hoping for the peak patter outcome of the Dandies being relegated at Dens by a Niall McGinn penalty. Make it so chaps.
  18. The boy is as mad as a hatter.
  19. Very a much a calling card of a moron this. As is my posting twice in a row without multi-quoting tbf.
  20. The Highway Code: 8 changes you need to know from 29 January 2022 - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) I confess to being wrong about the one about roundabouts, although the information doing the rounds emphasises the "priority at roundabouts" rather than the details of just not overtaking when we're riding round them (I've never experienced anyone doing this tbf). The one about undertaking "with extreme caution" I fear will be interpreted as "I have a right to undertake".
  21. Nah mate. I'm keeping an eye on Gumtree etc but I'm not optimistic. The polis have been very disappointing. There's a primary school right opposite me whose CCTV camera looks right at my front door, but they've not, as far as I can ascertain, looked at it yet. It took them a while to get back to me as the officer they assigned to it was off at the time, and then after she called me (10 days after I reported it) she's buggered off on annual leave again. It seems that the polis are more a crime recording agency rather than a crime solving one. I'd have been as well just undertaking enquiries myself. So nae bike. A friend gave me one of his to borrow, otherwise I'd have to change my name to sans velo army.
  22. Aye, perhaps a "c***s on paths" thread for this alone. I find myself being a cycling da', which is a bit of a niche demographic. Modern cyclists (post Wiggins era especially) are mostly horrendous, with a truckload of entitlement, fascist attitudes towards pedestrians and absolutely no road sense. The current highway code changes are pish too, which enables undertaking and being careless at roundabouts.
  23. As @HibeeJibee and @TheScarf have pointed out, the split has nothing at all to do with competition, but about providing 4 OF games and ensuring that there's not 44 league games played. I think any kind of reconstruction would be deckchair rearrangement. I also suspect that larger leagues would be more boring and that those advocating those had no experience watching scottish football when we had larger leagues. My old fella was recently telling me that while the 1971 title winning/promotion season was obviously nice (and the next season wasn't bad either!!) there were so many games that were boringly predictable wins against rubbish. I'd appreciate the contributions of other aulder posters on this. Ultimately the only meaningful act to increase competitiveness is a reallignment of financial distribution and voting structure. In short I appreciate the efforts of the OP, and it's a good post and topic, but I like it enough as it is, not because I think it's amazing, but because I'm unconvinced any reconstruction would be worth the bother.
