Tbf I didn't get into TMITHC until after the first few episodes. I was off with the covid so had the luxury of time and nothing else to watch. The first series was decent, but the second series is outstanding and they've really fleshed out the characters more. American Psycho sounds like a rough as f**k read. I've known two people to have read it and while they say that some of it is very very funny, the brutal parts are off the scale brutal.

Watching that Chelsea game and two of my takeaways were. 1. That Chelsea away top was lovely, and would make a smashing Alloa top. Actually if the pinhoops were just a wee bit thicker, and red, I would love that as a Jags top. 2. Hakim Ziyech "celebrating" his goal the same way I celebrate getting the wrong food delivered to my house. It's a PTTGOMN when footballers just saunter away from scoring a goal without cracking a smile. Arsehole.

I'd rather he stayed at Bologna for another season or so. It seems like a cracking footballing culture to be part of. If he was going to move after that I'd want him staying in Serie A. Brentford might be a stepping stone to a bigger club, but I think that it would be a sideways move from Bologna, which could also prove to be a stepping stone to a bigger club.

I read "The Man In The High Castle" a couple of years back and I quite enjoyed it. It's more of a novella so I was intrigued as to how they would get three or four series out of such a wee book. The TV show has knocked my socks off though. Some of the characters are the same, but they've just expanded and added more depth to the world that PKD created in the book. The characters are fantastically written and I'm thoroughly invested in all of their arcs. The acting is absolutely top notch and the casting is perfect. Seriously, having Rufus Sewell as Obergruppenfuhrer Smith is as perfect a piece of casting as you're likely to see. He's marvellous in this, managing to completely convince as a good man who loves his family, but whose loyalty to the Reich leads him to do awful things. The two main Japanese lads as well are utterly mesmerising on screen. Inspector Kido and Nobusuke Tagomi have such rich arcs, especially in series two, and they both eat up the screen whenever they're on. So aye, I liked the book, but the series is just on another level of entertainment, storytelling and characters. What other films and shows would you say were better than the books they were based on?

I thought he was battling some sort of addiction during lockdown. The term "addiction" needs to be understood and used more broadly as a system of behaviours designed to soothe or numb (Gabor Mate is the man for this). It's not to excuse the behaviour.any more than depression or the vague "mental health" labels do. I kinda fear for him. He's not a well guy and I can see him spiraling like Gazza (who looks utterly fucking awful these days) without football. He's absolutely had every chance, and he may be utterly toxic at Thistle if he came here, but I wonder if working under a guy who is older and has been in a position to not only work on his own shit, but to mentor others (as part of McCall's 12 step work) is precisely what he needs at the moment. As I said, I think it could be worth a punt.

It might be good for Griff to move to Thistle, and specifically to be playing under McCall, a man who battles with and therefore understands addiction. It could be what he needs. Obviously there's the consideration of his off-field baggage, but honestly if he had the intention of getting himself in some sort of order then I'd be happy to have him. I don't feel too optimistic about that tbf, but it could be worth a punt.

That's absolutely fantastic. Not only do I want this here, I want these two fellas to do it.
