I'm fine with Tierney playing part time with Arsenal. His injury history means that regular starts for his club and for his country are mutually exclusive. I'd obviously love for him to be flying and flourishing at Arsenal, but I'm also thinking that he would frequently call off for international duty as the club and he seek to "manage" his injuries.

Death Pelanty thread for this egregious pish.

It's the made up nonsense and snarkiness of "self-hating scots" and the wee guy behaviour of "as I've said all along" type rubbish. It's been a long time schtick of his (I have him on ignore) and him being a wee dick is probably why he gets so many reds.

The Halo Effect in practice. A 20 year old project manager too. For those that dinna ken, the Halo Effect is a psychological phenomenon where people are more likely to ascribe positive personality traits to attractive people. People who are conventionally attractive are thought to be more competent and better people. You might think you don't do that, but they earn higher salaries and receive lighter sentences too. 20 year old project manager indeed. Aye, I am bitter.

Selling players to Saudi Arabia
velo army replied to Sortmeout's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
A pyrrhic victory where they win, but are then treated like an NFL franchise and moved to a different place entirely. Like you I tend to look on with a growing sense of detachment like I'm watching two different sports. The saudis are absolutely welcome to Mbappe and any other elite European footballer they can get their hands on. Harry Kane next please. -

What is this wishy washy liberal pish? -
Seems I was talking utter shite about Aberdeen chippers. I had from Haas once when I was pished so canna mind (it's also far from my house) and the Ashvale is, in fact, superb.

KT became homesick living in a city that contained all of his home comforts (save for his family and friends) plus everyone speaks English. No way he's moving to a desert state where the culture is so vastly different.

Things that annoy or delight you on the telly right now
velo army replied to welshbairn's topic in TV and Film Forum
Watched Flog It recently. It's a joyous wee program and the lad who presents it is an utterly lovely man who excels at making everyone feel welcome by being delighted and fascinated by them and the stuff they've brought to auction. Fantastic telly. -
Old sayings that younger folk won't get any longer
velo army replied to DA Baracus's topic in The General Nonsense Forum
It's "up to high doh" as it relates to the highest note of the singing scale (doh ray me fah...etc) rather than a female deer that's been on the wacky baccy. Youngsters don't use any phrases anymore that aren't provided via Americanised social media. -
Great thread. World Cup 90 remains the absolute gold standard of sticker albums. I recall Clough doing the TV advert for it too. I mind playing with my da (football in the hall, it must have been raining) and you'd do the commentary for your own team. My auld man went Egypt as there was a few guys with the same surname. Him commentating "Mubarak, plays the ball to Mubarak, who beats his man and cuts it back to Mubarak" etc had me laughing so hard my whole body had turned to rubber. Anyway. One thing I kinda miss that you don't see now is cars with different coloured bits. Someone in the street would have a blue car with one red door, or some other motley arrangement.

They'll use curling tongs and will then straighten it later. Screamingly obvious mate. -

Straightening their hair? There used to be lassies in our halls of residence who would set the alarm off in this manner at least once a week. Solved -
Kept it for eggs for your omelette imo.

Some of you lads need to learn boundaries. Battle re-enactments sound super though. I met a boy on a night out and he was obsessed. He was very much on the spectrum so didn't really care about reading the room, but I was fascinated tbh.

Chip shop chips when they're fresh made are simply incredible. Best fried fash I ever had was in Nairn. Chips were reheats, so weren't great. I had a haggis supper in Leith on Hogmanay about 15 years ago and I still think about it. One of my top 5 gustatory experiences. For a coastal place Aberdeen isn't well served with chippers. The Dolphin is decent, but we should really be aiming for Anstruther levels of chippery, rather than being merely a level above Glasgow. I'll bring it up at the next hustings.

Premiership - new strips 2023/24.
velo army replied to pozbaird's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Both fermers tops are sublime. I like the Livi top too, and having the sponsor as a reverse crowdwank is a nice self deprecating touch. The currant buns aren't even trying to hide it any more. -
My first game was against Meadowbank. I was 4. We were in the south terracing in the days before clubs were required to have a state of the art bing. My dad made it simple for my 4 year old self. "Boo the team in black and cheer for the team in red and yellow". Easy peasy. Half time. Men in black come on to the pitch, I boo my wee heart out like the loyal Jags ultra I was. My da puts a hand on my shoulder. "Naw son, that's the ground staff" . First proper Scotland game was great. I didn't watch the game, but me and some fellow wee boys ended up playing hidey on the terraces for the duration. Class.
