  1. Fitzy is a hero but the guy has been out of coaching for about 20 years and is soon to be retiring from working life. Langfield, McManus and Webster are taking the team today. McManus has always done well when he's had to step up.
  2. If, as seems to be the case, Jack Ross doesn't want it, then there's slim pickings around. Lambert - not convinced he'd take it and his record has more bad bits than good. Adams - recently sacked by Bradford, doesn't get me particularly excited. Tommy Wright? - didn't cover himself in glory at Kilmarnock but I still think he's a good manager. Steven McGarry - would definitely have the club at heart and have interesting contacts in Australia. Been out the Scottish game a long time and lacks experience of being a number 1. Scott Brown - not convinced he'll want to hang the boots up just yet, so can't see it being him. Also no managerial experience but he'll have a point to prove, has good contacts and is a winner. He's also a good character and I'm sure the players would respect him. If it's not Ross part of me thinks 'f**k it' give it to Brown, it'll be a laugh if anything.
  3. Surely the Brown stuff is just paper talk, the Record just desperate for an Old Firm angle. The reason I wouldn't want him is a lack of experience. Nothing to do with him as a person, the guy is a winner, he's very hard working, will have good contacts in the game. Now, none of that means he'd necessarily be a good manager, but he's not someone I'd be protesting against. I reckon it's all moot anyway. I will be astounded if Scott Brown is our next manager.
  4. This might come back to bite me on the arse but I also reckon he'll stay. The early front runner in the press/at the bookied doesn't often get it. I also think Aberdeen will want a bigger name. Most Aberdeen fans I've spoken to (admittedly about 3) don't want Goodwin. Mental that they expect a big name, but here we are.
  5. Thoroughly enjoying your tear stained, back handed compliments by the way.
  6. Comfortable victory in the end it pretty dire conditions. Would've been nice to have scored another but hey ho. Jones and Grieve looked useful tonight. Grieve was a total pest. How the St Johnstone Centre halves only saw one card between them is a mystery as the kicked or pulled him every time he passed them, which was more than a couple of times. Chuffed for him getting the goal, he deserved it.
  7. Fairly even so far. Alnwick has had more stops to make. I actually thought ours was a penalty, it's maybe a bit soft but it's a foul anywhere else on the park. It's so clumsy from McCart (?) why not just stand him up?
  8. The fact that Griffiths appears to be a consideration is a disgrace. Goodwin has gone down, quite drastically, in my estimations. By considering Griffiths it looks like the club is implicitly saying that his behaviour is acceptable. It's not.
  9. Lavety was a 19 year old guy who took a couple of party pills with his pals. Griffiths was a 30 year old man, messaging an underage girl, using his status as a Celtic player in the hope she'd send him photos of her. I think we can all guess what type of photos he was after. Whilst what he did might not have reached the threshold for a crime, he should be no where near St Mirren.
  10. I've no idea to be honest. Surely there'd be something in the contract in case of an emergency. There's also no point in recalling him though if he'd sit on the bench behind Erwin. Be as well letting the boy get games.
  11. I hope you're right. I'd be surprised if Goodwin was considering him. We'd be better recalling Lewis Jamieson and giving him a run.
  12. I'm actually pretty angry that Griffiths is even being considered. I'm surprised at Goodwin too, a player's character has always seemed to be important to him. I haven't been to many games this season but if Griffiths signs I won't be back at St. Mirren Park until he's gone.
  13. Wasn't a classic and a draw was fair but f**k me, just clear your lines.
  14. No guarantee he'd get a regular game for Thistle, maybe that's the reason he turned them down.
  15. I'd have expected to get a little more but looks like all the interest from down south wasn't what it had been made out to be. Considering last week a lot folk were happy to see McGrath move on and us to stick with Kiltie then it seems like a reasonable deal for all parties. That £150k (assuming it's accurate) could hopefully see us bring a couple of last minute signings that Goodwin had earmarked.
  16. Good post. To be honest, I can't see Goodwin dropping Kiltie to start McGrath. For me, the only way McGrath starts is if someone is carrying a knock. That doesn't take away from the fact that McGrath is still our best player. He should absolutely be on the bench and I'd expect him to make an appearance.
  17. If he has a grandparent born in the UK he can get an 'ancestral' visa which lasts for 5 years. I've no idea if this is the visa he is on or not, but I think it's fairly straight forward for a lot of folk from New Zealand to get UK visas.
  18. Think that was more to do with the back 4 and Brophy being back, but I take your point. I thought Kiltie was good and looks a natural replacement for McGrath.
  19. Thought we deserved the win there. Probably should've been more comfortable.
  20. I'd say Rae deserves some (I stress only 'some') credit for keeping us up the season he came in. He probably put a rocket up a few players' arses. Your point about Goodwin is correct though, I'd add Thompson to that too. These were good experienced players who should've been kept on for another year. It seemed like he wanted to put a marker to show who was in charge. He then replaced them with dug shite like Kyle Hutton. Stubbs was an absolute riot though. I'd slightly disagree with none of the players being adequate quality. Alfie Jones was ok. Willock was a big let down but at least had some pedigree and flashes that he might be a player. Cody Cooke tried hard and wasn't totally shite. Other than that though, you'd have been as well with me filling some of those slots. There's been a few examples of managers from outside Scotland really underestimating the standard of football. But with Stubbs there should've been no excuse. He'd been both a player and a manager here. Stubbs and Rae were similar in the fact that it looked like they wanted to show who was in charge, get rid of players who'd done well for us, who were popular with the fans. If you then replace these players with absolute shite, you won't last long.
