  1. Love the idea of "limited war". How does that work?
  2. When it is summer here, it is winter in Argentina.
  3. Flag waving patriots who think you should support the government all the time - unless of course it is a government they didn't vote for. Back in April, this might have worked. Who would want to be in charge at this time, national unity and we're all in this together. Since then the Cummings affair and other mishaps suggest the UK government is just the Tories being Tories, still distracted by Brexit, clumsy and incompetent, not very keen on state intervention of any kind and not really capturing the public mood at all.
  4. You also started a thread about some virus, gave it undue publicity and now it is reaping havoc all over the world. Time for some answers.
  5. That's a relief. Always feel ill if Peter Hitchens says something I might agree with.
  6. Contrary to your assertion, Inverness Caledonian Thistle deny any involvement in this at all.
  7. Do they have cases? Almost certainly yes. Do they have "confirmed" cases? Almost certainly no. Would not like to be the person who has to confirm anything.
  8. Then again there is the conspiracy theory that they have already got there and we are just not being told. All that fake science that suggests it is really tricky to get there. No water, no trees or grass. No clouds. No oxygen! Photos from Mars that make it look like some barren rocky planet that no one would want to go to. Never did believe all those photos and other stuff! I think they're at it.
  9. Which bit? Are there lots of apes about fighting over scraps or are you on a space flight to the moon listening to "The Blue Danube", or maybe onboard a giant ship heading for Jupiter? Any sign of the monolith? Also, what does any of this have to do with ringtones?
  10. It also doesn't help that your evening viewing is constantly interrupted by "an important health announcement from the Scottish Government" and it is simply a repeat of one you have seen many times before. Obviously it has to be done but everyone is reaching for the remote to choose "Skip important health announcement".
  11. Last time you said this you mentioned a woman as well. What's happened? Has she quit?
  12. Said roundabout got a mention on University Challenge. Speciality round - most northerly roundabouts in Britain. Balliol College Oxford failed miserably and accused their opponents from the University of the Highlands and Islands of tampering with the questions. Simply outrageous.
  13. I hardly know anyone that goes to church regularly and those that do don't mention it much. None of my friends and none of my relatives. My grandmother and her sister did. Every Sunday they would go along to hear the minister. He would give a sermon about fire and brimstone and the congregation would wail. Every time he roared "we are all sinners" they would all howl as if they had been whipped. Not my grandmother or her sister though. Shortly after it began they would fall asleep and start snoring. Basically they missed the whole thing. At the end of the service somebody would nudge them awake. As they were leaving they would say "Lovely service, Donald" and "Yes Lovely". Then they go home and have a cup of tea. That went on for years.
  14. Did anyone understand the storyline, plot, premise or dialogue for this? Just when I almost understood what was going on - it ended.
  15. Ted Bundy was a church elder and regularly went to church when he wasn't busy doing other things. Did that make him a good person? Similarly if a doctor in India saves thousands of lives and cures lots of people but had a different upbringing then does make them a bad person?
  16. Yes. Nothing controversial today. I thought he was a lot of older but if you didn't think so then who am I to argue.
  17. There is always a shortage of bomb disposal experts. I guess that's safe.
  18. Starting his 7th decade means he has just turned 60. You are not that far off.
  19. What about "World War Z"? A global pandemic occurs because of a virus that turns everybody into zombies. I know it is only supposed to be fiction but how do I know it is not phase 2 of any global pandemic? I think I will work from home just in case.
  20. Yes. Every bout of severe food poisoning was obviously a sign from above not to eat that stuff. Surprised it was not a much longer list.
  21. As Neil Degrasse Tyson likes to point out, two thirds of all stars have Arabic names. Mesopotamia was a centre for learning about everything. Arabic numerals are what we still use today. As well as Algebra. Then some religious guy said stop doing all that and everything changed.
