  1. I like the story of how Argon was discovered. Somebody took a sample of air and removed all the oxygen, leaving 79% of what they started with. Then they took another sample and removed all the nitrogen leaving 22% of what they started with. Since 79 + 22 = 101, they concluded there must be 1% something else that must be an inert Noble gas, which they named Argon. Subsequently the discoverer won the Noble Prize. Not sure if it is really that simple but it does suggest that winning a Noble prize is relatively easy if you put your mind to it.
  2. I would have said the stomach was the main digestive organ, while the liver is a major cleansing organ. As I understand it, alcohol does not attack the liver. The liver sees it as another toxin to get rid of. If you drink too much, the liver will eventually be overwhelmed. The liver does multiple tasks, it is the largest gland in the body, the second largest organ (after skin) and provides the central heating for your body.
  3. Just to be pedantic. Air is mainly a combination of 78% Nitrogen, 21% Oxygen and 1% Argon. Perfectly healthy. By contrast, pure oxygen is detrimental in the long term.
  4. When the Romans invented leap years, this involved adding an extra day between the 23rd and 24th of February. It was years later when they decided to move the extra day to the end.
  5. You haven't lived. Sliced ginger and grated ginger is great in lots of cooking including stews and stir fry. You need to make sure it is cooked thoroughly as it can be very harsh raw. I even add it to Chili con carne but I suspect a lot of people would not.
  6. He is away on holiday travelling around Alaska in a hot air balloon. Come to think of it, haven't heard how that is going.
  7. Yes there are other countries with monarchies but can you instantly say whether the current monarch is a king or a queen, do you even know their name and how long they have been in the role. The monarchy is an issue but what is worse is the millions of people who happily accept a servile role for themselves and think the Royal Family are entitled to everything they have got. Everything is with refers to the Royal Family - the "United Kingdom", GSTK, the Royal Navy, the Royal Air Force, the Royal Society for people who want to complain about something. (I made that last one up). What other country has the King living in a grand palace while the prime minister lives down some side street.
  8. Not able to have a real kit in the house? Too loud? Are you aware of silent skins that have a similar response to a normal skin but are considerably quieter. You can still have a conversation while playing the skins (including the bass drum). I have Remo Silent Strokes. There are also quieter cymbals (full of holes). The main concern is rim shots on the snare. That will still be loud unless you get a Black Hole snare cover.
  9. Can you please clarify? Do you mean Stilton exporters as in exporters who live in Stilton or do you mean Stilton cheese exporters? As everybody already knows, Stilton cheese cannot be legally made in Stilton village because of some dastardly EU regulation called "Protected Designation of Origin (PDO)" which states that it can only be made in Derbyshire, Leicestershire or Nottinghamshire. If somebody tried to make it in Stilton village, which is in Cambridgeshire then it would have to be called something else. This is one of those nonsense laws that we can dispense with. You can now set up a Stilton cheese factory in Stilton village and maybe a Scotch Whisky Distillery as well. Possibly some Orkney Fudge as well.
  10. One of these was found by a school trip into the forest. When somebody touched the bomb, it exploded. Five children and a pregnant woman were killed.
  11. So why is everybody in Europe talking about it?
  12. Not only that. Anyone caught saying it wrong should be locked in a dungeon for a thousand days. BTW. What does the word actually mean?
  13. You can now exit the Dartford tunnel in an exact number of furlongs, chain and rods without having to resort to any of those foreign units of measure! How does that benefit you financially? Not sure. Need to get back.
  14. Colin Stagg spent a year in prison wrongly accused of killing Rachel Nickell who was taking her baby boy for a walk. It was years later but they got a confession from the real killer.
  15. Ted Bundy seems to be just a regular guy to a lot of people, he dressed well, combed his hair and he was even a church elder.
  16. I know what you are saying but I doubt anyone who commits a crime like this even considers being caught or would be deterred by the death penalty. Therefore it would only be an act of revenge. He is not going to have a nice time in prison. I suspect he will be isolated and have a lot of time to reflect on what he has done.
  17. I think I have seen that in other films as well. Surely worthy of "Don't try this at home Kids" but fortunately most people don't live in multi-storey car parks so the problem isn't there.
  18. It is all very simple. If it is too quiet then there is a chance the bomb will go off. By contrast if there is a lot of loud bombastic music then you will succeed. If I ever became a bomb disposal expert I would have my own orchestra with me to ensure I succeeded every time.
  19. James Arness himself was not in Star Trek but he did some sci fi movies such as Them! and The Thing from Outer Space - which was later remade by John Carpenter.
