  1. Id be shocked and stunned to see any of the midfield dropped this week given how well they have played as a unit. For me the only position that is up for grabs is up front. I agree Theo has done everything that has been asked of him and it would be harsh to drop him. But the harsh reality is the only thing missing from the last 2 performances is goals. That being the case there has to be a strong argument for Ollie Shaw to start. I do think there is every chance though that SK goes same again with a quiet word in Theo's ear about what he needs to do to retain his place. The only other position I think could be up for question right now is SODs. With Spencer coming over to his natural position and Gent coming into left back. However, again, I think this would be harsh and I dont see it happening.
  2. I think Shaw can come good and at least be an able replacement until Biereth gets fit again. No harm to Theo, who has been way better than I expected, but Shaw looks more mobile and has a better touch than Theo, so would appear more suited to the lone striker role, which is what I think we need to do to keep controlling games as we are with the extra body in midfield. Nobody is going to run up a big score against us if we keep the ball. Its how we turn this good play into goals and more importantly points is the question. But Im certain SK is aware of that and is actively working on it. Getting Shaw fully fit and in the starting 11 would be a step in the right direction.....
  3. No mention of the Rangers handball in the analysis of todays game. The commentator even had the temerity to say it had hit Tavernier on the chest! But when a team hasnt had a penalty awarded against them at home in 18 months, best not to mention these things!
  4. Having been at the game, I would disagree. Rangers maybe had more possession, but for the most part it was in front of us and wasnt harming us at all. The chances on Sportscene were literally everything good they did in the game. When we got the ball we moved it quickly and got into some very good positions and had some very good chances. Not saying we deserved to win the game, but we certainly didnt deserve to lose. If we get the same level of performance next week we wont be far away.
  5. Winning there is always a longshot. The fact that we havent done it there in the league since 1997 tells you everything. Not saying at all we will win on Sunday. Just dont think them beating what some have described as a poor Betis side 1-0 at home is any grounds for despair. We will have to be at our best and work really hard to get anything at all, and Im probably going to hate myself at 5pm on Sunday for being stupid enough to buy a ticket, but its the hope that kills you!
  6. Didnt see the game tonight, but heard Beales post match interview, he didnt exactly sound ecstatic! He said they werent great in the first half, but were better in the second. I think they are still a work in progress and whilst their resources are undoubtedly far superior to ours I dont see us rolling over and getting our tummy tickled as we have sometimes in the past. First goal is key. They get it and it could be a long afternoon, but the longer it goes the more their fans will start to get disgruntled. Remember, the league is everything to them this season. Europe will buy Beale time, but if the league form continues they will be on his back.
  7. Spitz & Slats keeping the Kettle boiling by doing the Bair necessities. Its all grist to the Miller though in Casey you didnt understand that the suSpencer will kill you eventually as its SODs law that we are gonna win the league!
  8. Aye, as I said I dont disagree with the general point that football is too expensive. My point was that Motherwell arent ripping the hole out of away fans by charging them way more than us. I put the biggest blame on the ugly sisters charging £32 to sit in shite seats. That sets the bar for the rest of the league. I still think clubs could be way more creative though with family packages and season ticket holder discounts for away fans. It would soften the blow and encourage more numbers to attend.
  9. I cant agree with that. If away fans got in for £22 there would be Motherwell fans paying more than them at the gate. Season ticket holders should of course be rewarded for their commitment with a cheaper overall price. I am for lowering prices overall though and I do think there should be much more consensus on cheap family deals as per St Johnstone. We should be looking at maximising the overall revenue rather than ticket price in isolation. I remember a few seasons ago there were reciprocal deals to opposing clubs season ticket holders for reduced prices. I cant remember which clubs were involved, but a figure of £10 is in my head. That might not be the right pricepoint now, but the idea is worth exploring again. It would raise away attendances and we would make more from catering.
  10. I dont disagree. But we charge our own fans £26 for the Cooper so its not like we are fleecing them. If you take into account the price of a season ticket for that stand its £415. Even at 19 home games its still £22 a ticket. I was thinking about Ibrox next week, but at £32, I think they can stick it......
  11. A win would be amazing though ahead of our next 2 fixtures......
  12. If you are comparing fanbase, I think its perfectly reasonable to suggest that Motherwell, Kilmarnock and St Mirren are all similar sized clubs. If you factor in honours won, history within the Scottish game etc you can also make that argument, albeit St Mirren have never won the league title. In fact only 9 Scottish clubs have won all 3 trophies. Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibs, Dundee, Dundee United, Kilmarnock, Motherwell. You would have to say that the city clubs are all bigger in respect of fanbase and even clubs like Dundee and Dundee United who have had long spells out of the top tier are bigger clubs and historically have been more successful. Looking down the way, even clubs which in the past could have been considered similar size such as St Johnstone, Partick Thistle, Dunfermline and Falkirk, never won the league And have even all fallen into the 3rd tier in recent times. Not sure there is much in the debate other than bragging rights though. Its where you finish up at the end of each season that counts.
  13. Dan Casey to have words with Dunne in the tunnel. Problem solved.....
  14. Spencer to RWB. Gent to LWB. SOD into the McGinn role. Simples.
  15. If I was Fletcher, Im not sure I would be enticed by a 6 month deal. That smacks of us only needing him until Biereth, Wilko and Obika are fit again and we can get him off the wage bill. Of course its probably a lot more complicated than that, but I wouldnt want to have to be finding another club half way through the season at that age.
  16. Sounds like "Kettlespeak" for, he has absolutely no future here and we are actively trying to move him on!
  17. I know he is probably well out of our price range now, but how good would it be to get the wee man back on a season long loan? If you dont ask, you dont get!
  18. Had a look back and McLeishs first 22 games in charge had a record of W9 D8 L5 2 of those games were against Dortmund, but it was also the year we finished 2nd in the League to Rangers. There were a few league cup ties and 2 Uefa games against Hanvar Botfelag!
  19. I cant think of one. Maybe McLeish's first season after he inherited wee Tommys team?
  20. 100% support this. No one should go to their work and not come home......
