  1. I’m fine with hanging on to Archie and the management team for another season whether we get relegated or not. I don’t think changing the gaffer will necessarily give us a better outlook for next year. Archie has to be learning from this experience and seeing that several of the players he has have to be moved on starting with “Mr Itsnoteasy” who’s heads been gone this season. I go back to looking at Sean Dyche at Burnley. He went down with them, board stuck by him, and he’s back and stronger in the top flight. Maybe that’s worth a shot?
  2. Where’s the ministers son Spiers gone? I didn’t agree with everything he talked about or stood for but he was at least educated and I could understand him. He’s better than the drivel we’ve got now. Did he fall out with with the BBC? Also where did Keith Jackson go? He also got the push about a year ago. I really didn’t like him much to be fair. I enjoyed his arguments with those in the studio. Tom English is on fairly regularly and is decent. He can be a bit like Stewart with his condescending smug opinions but he’s much more educated than Pat Bonner. Seems bbc have moved to more ex players than proper journalists. Not sure I like that.
  3. Liam sounds like he’s on the front row of a Roller Coaster at the end of a game when he’s giving his match review and talking points. It’s cringeworthy. Even when it’s a nil-nil bore fest he manages to make it sound like Scotland just won the World Cup. I don’t mind him though. I agree there is much worse. Bonner, G Smith, Chick, Preston and Rae are all terrible. All just horrific. Miller is ok, he’s mediocre, but an Aberdeen legend and they need a voice so he’s it. I don’t dislike him other than sometimes he can be a real dick toward other teams. He needs to learn to be a little more even when discussing clubs and games. Being slightly bias I like Ian McCall. He’s got good experience with playing and managing several diddy clubs, knows the Scottish game and he’s not an arrogant prat. At least he isn’t in my eyes. Sadly Michael Stewart for me initially I liked but his arrogance “I know more than you do”, smug, put you down, approach is becoming too much for me. Plus he loves to try and tie in politics which I want none of. Football should be free of that shite. He’s a condescending twat but he seems quite knowledgeable. If he cut the ego out he’d be ok. Not sure where he gets the arrogance as he wasn’t that good a player. Daryl “always stick up for the SFA” Broadfoot is also interesting. He seems bright and I don’t dislike home outside his constant appeasement of the powers at Hampden.
  4. Tonight we could have done with Duffy in the dugout tbf. Players were spineless, no fight and completely void of any ideas. We can either keep Archie and be playing championship football next year and do some rebuilding (I'm not opposed to that), or sack him and and get someone in for the post-split who can crack some heads and at least try to keep us in the division (I'm not opposed to that). As a club we're in good shape administratively and financially, our support is pretty loyal and we'd be OK, having a chance on coming back up next year. End of next year we will also have the best facilities outside OF in central belt. Archie looks miserable and is too laid back in my opinion. He doesnt seem right. Also not seen Shaggy in ages. There has to be some unrest and honestly whatever the club decides I'll be right behind them. Archie & Shaggy are both legends and have brought great memories but no one is bigger than the institution. #wearethistle #PTFC
  5. Jagzone prematch interviews are brutal. Same old questions, same old answers from them. Don't see the point or need. Stick up some archive games and highlights. I'd rather watch them.
  6. We lose this game and we’re finishing bottom 2 and County have advantage. It’s looking extremely depressing at this moment.
  7. What’s even more ridiculous about this is that vast majority of those attending these games or support the OF don’t even acknowledge, practice or believe in God. And those that do, as I know a few from my old church in Glasgow want to stamp out this bigotry once and for all. They are the few OF fans who have a zero tolerance approach. But not enough as they continue to show up and play a part in this garbage by spending their cash. The hatred, violence and abuse stems not from people who truly practice. It is from people who couldn’t even tell you the names of the gospels or where Jesus was born. It’s a cultural virus that has spread for generations and we need rid of this uneducated nonsense. This is something all respectful people no matter your belief or background should be backing the removal of. It’s horrendous for our society and needs cut out.
  8. I didn’t even mention Sammon or Booth. We’ve got the players. But agree the play is horrific
  9. Disagree. You don’t become garbage overnight. These players got us our highest league position in over 30 years last year. We’ve added 3-4 bodies and whilst I do agree with your thoughts on the players this year my point was that this squad has talent and shouldn’t be getting relegated automatically. Cerny, Barton, Keown, Osman, Edwards, Erskine, Doolan. The spine of the team is more than capable. Especially when you look at Accies, Dundee and County. Look at what Killie have done. Not with new players. But with a gaffer who is showing his class. I have no doubt the Jags players can perform. Why they are not i can’t confirm but maybe Archie has run out of steam. I hope not! The players need to dig deep now. It’s now or it’ll be too late.
  10. With our squad of players there is no way we should be in the position we are. It’s then logical to suggest Archie has run out of steam. He’s got to show his abilities now. He’s got a couple of massive games coming before split. If we don’t pick up a win I think we could finish 12th never mind 11th. Players should be ashamed of themselves. Accies, Saints have both shown fight to pick up points with a less talented team on Park. I’ve always thought we lacked leadership in side. Osman has been good for us but I never thought he was a top captain. Dools and Erskine seem to be our two veterans but we lack some real grit and I think that comes from having a couple of solid leaders on the park.
  11. Please no Paul Paton. I agree. Folks need to chill out with these ex player ars*holes returning comments. In all my frustration with Archie & his inability to stop the team from giving up late goals I think he has earned the right to get us out of this. I also think if we go down he has earned the right to have another crack at getting us back up first time of asking. I go back to the Sean Dyche analogy. It’s served Burnley well being loyal and whilst we don’t have the riches of these teams south of the border I do think Archie has the experience now no matter what happens to turn us around whether we stay up or go down. I’m not sure sacking him would be the smart move. I would also like to ask why is Barton out the side and not playing at the back? With him there we’ve picked up several wins Post new year. Have Archie and Bart’s fallen out? I just find it strange that a player who was last years POTY and steadies the defense as a very good sweeper, clearly makes us better is now left on the bench. My hope is he’s back in the backline versus County and we can get that much needed win.
  12. Archie in his post match interview got relatively irritated when Max mentioned losing late goals this past few years. He basically said it didn’t matter ‘a toss’. Sorry Archie it does matter. Because if you’d have addressed it we wouldn’t be in this position. Year after year we lose goals 80-90mins. That’s your responsibility to fix. I think nothing less than 3 points in Dingwall next week or I think the fans will completely turn. Posts above about Hamilton’s injuries and sold players makes this actually quite an embarrassing loss.
  13. I managed to listen to the Jagzone interview of Archie now the dust has settled on the game Saturday. In my eyes our loss to a mediocre and clearly inferior team was down to the manager. In the second half almost everyone I spoke to who was at the game or watched it on Jagzone as I did saw that our returning injured players needed replaced an hour in but Archie in his post match interview blamed the team for not “seeing the game out.” I agree the team did a poor job last 20 mins, but the manager should have recognized that Woods and Booth were shot, the legs had gone, and we had an incredibly strong bench to deal with replacing them. Penrice for Booth, Barton for Woods and to continue to stretch the play, as Storey was effective we had both Lawless or Spittal. Instead Archie decides to take off Storey and Erskine our two most creative players. Play Blair in a less offense role and takes off Storey who wad the full back in his pocket. The only player Dundee had that was a threat was Murray. Everyone could see it. It was glaring. Nullify him by bringing on Penrice to mark him out game and we’d have had 3 points. Murray minute by minute was getting more joy. Archie mentioned this but really did nothing to address it. Instead said defense should have dealt with it better. Woods looked like he was injured. He wobbled along in the second half, after a good first, but clearly needed protecting. I don’t think it was McCanns great subs that won Dundee that game. It was Archie not recognizing what was happening on the field. He should own up to the players to take the heat off them as I thought for most of game especially first half they played Dundee off the park. We should have been 3-0 up. That I do agree with Archie on. Our inability to score goals to punish teams is a massive weakness. We’ve done it against Saints this season and that’s it really. So my question is, with the best squad of players I’ve seen in my 35 years of life as a Jags fan, is Archie able to succeed and take us on? Yes we managed top 6 last year but his record when you drill down isn’t that impressive. We are almost always guaranteed to lose to top 6 clubs especially OF. Stinking record! We have one of the worst cup records in the country. He’s under achieving with the squad of players he has in my eyes. I think the man deserved all the time he’s had but my support of him is beginning to subdue. With the players we have I believe, for example, if a coach like Steve Clarke was in charge we’d be in top 6 presently. Injuries have a played a role but we’ve got a worse record with players back than we did picking up points pre-break. I think he missed an opportunity in the interview to own up to his failures tactically at weekend and he didn’t take it. That would have helped take stress of lose off players. Due to that I’m not sure we’ll win against Accies Saturday. I think we’re in serious trouble. I pray I’m wrong and we can learn and bounce back. How did he think that game Saturday would suit Doolz in the last 10-15mins? He didn’t touch the ball! I’m still annoyed as we are so much better than that mob. It was night and day in terms of abilities.
  14. We hate him because he played for the diamonds twice but we also hate him because no matter the side he played for through his journeyman career he always seemed to find the net against us.
  15. With all this, rightly deserved, abuse I think I’ll skip listening to this latest podcast [emoji6]
  16. I dont think for Scottish football getting >1m for Liam Lindsay once he is sold by Barnsley is bad at all. In fact i think its well done by Thistle. We reportedly got $250k for Hendry 3 years ago when he was 19. In my opinion if we pick up another small amount for him in this january deal it's another good job by the Jags board and management team. We sold Hendry to invest in some needed areas and we're in our 5th year in top flight, have a brand new $4m training facility opening end of 2019 and are debt free. All in all we're in a great spot so not 'irked' in slightest.
  17. Worst business by club (BBC website) Steven Thompson on Partick Thistle: "You have to look at Firhill as they have only brought one player in - defender Baily Cargill on loan from Bournemouth. "Manager Alan Archibald will argue that he is waiting for players to return from injury and they will feel like new signings when they do, but it is difficult for the smaller clubs and, if the money is not there, it is not there." Willie Miller on Partick Thistle: "Hearts have sold Jamie Walker and Isma Goncalves, while Krystian Nowak has also gone."Kilmarnock have not done much business, but Steve Clarke said he was fairly happy with his squad. "Alan Archibald has been waiting for players to come back from injury, but I would have to say Partick Thistle because most of their rivals have recruited well." Eh sorry but what is this muck of analysis above? Amazes me who poor these clowns are... 1. This article published after our result away against Saints. Saints have brought in 2 but are unknown quantities to a tired older squad. No mention at all. 2. Accies have lost Devlin and Docherty and brought in little reinforcements. Imrie is in terrible form. So small squad and resources. No mention at all. 3. Celtic bring in a 30+ crocked German, Bain and Hendry but hardly the dream players the fans probably expected. 4. Dundee lose their best defender on deadline day and are considerably weaker at the back. 5. County? They need to stop losing but add a has been ex-liverpool striker. But somehow Thistle are named the worst club in January window? Who are these morons?
  18. Heard yesterday that we will be getting part of the Celtic $ to Dundee for Hendry. It is a development fee % and so we got paid twice on this future Scotland centre half. It's probably a small number but every little bit helps. I also know that the sell on % for Lindsay is more than 10%. These sh*tey tabloids dont know their ar*s from their elbow. We sold Liam for $350k up front with a significant sell on %. I would think it is probably 15 or 20%. I do think and give Maxi and the board benefit of the doubt on the way they conduct business. In my mind it's unfair to throw stones when none of the fees we see in the game make much sense. That's not Thistle's fault.
  19. I agree but we’ve been here before. Coming off the back of a great result and then going in to next game confident and we flatter to deceive. Don’t get me wrong I’m excited to take on Motherwell in the form we’re in but this is the next step for us. Beating teams also in good form and those in top 3-4 slots. We always seem to put in a brave performance but lose against them 1-0 or get the draw. It’s time we went to Firpark and won convincingly. It’s time we beat Sevco, and gave the Edinburgh clubs a good bending over and slap on the rear. We’re talented but that next step needs to come and we need it now more than ever!
  20. I think we’re in a good spot but I also think County will make a move and start picking up points. I have a feeling that when Ngog and Eagles gain fitness with the squad they have they’re going to fight hard. We have to be prepared for Coyle getting something out of them. Accies whilst they have lost Devlin and Docherty always seem to get results. So whilst I’m optimistic I think we have to be ready for an almighty fight from these clubs. It’s not going to be easy especially as we have to go beat them away from home. Our squad is fit and ready. We’ve got some serious talent and they are all clicking together as a team but let’s not think this is a walk in the park. We’re going to have to earn our way out of this poor first half of the season.
  21. I was just looking at the schedule. Out with a cup game v east end zombies we’ve got 5 winnable league February fixtures that in my book gives us the ability to either make a charge for top 6 or get relegated. Make or break our season. I think our form is on the up and I’m optimistic. I even think we can beat the forces of darkness in our rearranged fixture. Oh how I am waiting for the day we steam roll those c***s. We’ve got Well’, Dundee, County and Accies. We need to win 3 of 4 of those games. If we do I think we can finish minimum 8th. To finish top 6 we need to take a Sevco or Aberdeen scalp and we never seem to be able to make that happen. Can this year be that year!?
  22. So what’s our strongest XI when everyone is fit? With really only Elliott and Banzo out it’s getting tough to know what that looks like.
  23. If anyone downloads Sportsound podcast on their phone you’re in for a surprise. They’ve uploaded the wrong content. Instead of discussion on League of Nations we are treated to what seems to be last January’s content regarding Ian Cathro as Jambo boss with Tam McManus, Billy Brown and Kenny Mac at the helm. Honesty it’s a comedy of errors at the BBC. [emoji57]
  24. https://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/teams/partick-thistle/baily-cargill-i-ve-faced-coutinho-and-zlatan-i-won-t-fear-celtic-1-4669322 Looks like we are waiting on one piece of paperwork. Hopefully taken care of and we'll see Turnbull mark 2 making his debut tonight. Makes sense to throw him in there as we aren't expected to get anything from it. I would also play Penrice and get him some game time. Rest Booth as he's surely still recovering from weekend. All accounts this young Cherries defender is talented and has lots of potential. If so, well done to Archie and the scouts down south for getting him. He trained with team yesterday but understand why they took down the announcement until they are certain and all paperwork is done.
