  1. Noticed on a few occasions on Saturday that Alloa players playing the ball over our defence for wide men to run on to managed to shape it or put spin on it to take the bounce out on landing. Don't know if its something they work on or are just good at it. We constantly overhit passes for front men to run on to.
  2. Why do you have to be so aggressive if you don't want searched, if you have the right to refuse to be searched just say so, no need to tell anybody trying to do their job to f-off.
  3. My thoughts at the time from behind the goal, a poor pass by Todd but McKay was rooted to the spot and made no attempt to intercept. I haven't seen replays so maybe being a bit harsh on him.
  4. Saw that from the Oakbank, took a bit of time before Stewards actually decided to put staff up next to them rather than just standing down at the front. (more entertaining watching the Alloa neds than the game at the time)
  5. Don't honestly see anything untoward in the Stewards actions there tbh, unless you go out of your way to be easily offended. I entered via the Portland Drive turnstile and was also asked what was in my jacket pockets, my glasses and phone. Didn't bother me at all him asking. Seems Stewards are damned if they do and damned if they don't when doing their job.
  6. Not sure what stage Brydon's recovery is at, and agree he's our best cb, but we don't want to rush him back before he's absolutely fit. Bartley's got to get his defence sorted in the meantime or displays like 1st half yesterday could easily be repeated.
  7. Fair enough that Ambrose steadied us a bit defensively today but it should be taken into account that Alloa had a commanding lead when he came on and they weren't maybe pressing as much as they had been in the first half. Whether it would have made a difference if he'd been on from the start we'll never know. As for discussions about McGuffie, I thought he as one of the few players who looked like making something happen when attacking second half and was a bit surprised he was hooked. The introduction of Gibson however injected a bit of life into us and helped us finish strongly. Cochrane has been solid in the League Cup games but he was poor today, and with Todd also having a bit of a 'mare at times the midfield was very weak. Deserved win for Alloa it has to be said, played with the energy and commitment that we sadly lacked for most of the game.
  8. Aye, it's Dumfries Show weekend so should have expected rain, surprised its taken so long. Sun trying to break through but think it's losing the battle.
  9. Tbf, it's the little things like the neglected sign or the office/shop being shut when it is advertised as open that brings it home that we are at the arse end of professional football.
  10. They're saying something similar on the Falkirk thread.
  11. Could you not borrow some cardboard and a felt tip pen from the Club Office and change it, assuming Office is open of course, you can't be sure. You'll be helping the Club and easing your stress levels at the same time.
  12. Cowie was on the bench at Queens Park last weeks, must have been recalled already. Johnston not in that squad (afaik)
  13. Can't really recall many matches against us where Alloa sat in and we had to break them down. They're usually play at a high tempo and get right on your face, and quickly double up on players in possession and break quick from defence to attack. Of course it depends on the players Rice has now and how they're set up this season but I doubt they'll sit back and let us play freely.
  14. Yes, but I'm sure you're educated enough to have given a reasonable response without resorting to mentioning felt tip pens on pieces of cardboard. Your posts often come across like a headmaster talking down to ignorant pupils, imo anyway.
  15. Very quiet I would say, nothing contentious anyway, just went about his business. Didn't really have many scoring chances that I can remember (apart from pen) but was busy as usual. Didn't really acknowledge the QoS support, and they didn't engage with him too much either, but that's fair enough on both sides.
  16. Too far away for me to see but was it simulation? Sometimes such incidents don't necessarily have to be simulation or penalty just a coming together of players.
  17. The view from the Royal Box seems to indicate it was a definite penalty, not so obvious from the stalls.
  18. No gap for segregation and a few empty seats in the away end. Maybe our result on Tuesday put a few off who had bought tickets (or maybe they stayed in the pub)
  19. Roof could maybe have been built a bit lower and extended a bit more at the front, not much shelter in the front couple of rows, or any of 6 or 7 rows if rains driving in that way. Toilets (away end) are pokey and only 3 urinals in a corner could have been better planned. Also surprised they allowed a smoking area as I thought all venues had to be smoke free. A Steward standing in the aisle blocking the view during the game was a pain but he kindly moved when someone asked him to, not like at Dundee once when I asked told a Steward he was blocking my view and he told me to move somewhere else. All in all it's a facility that wouldn't look out of place at a Council Sports venue.
  20. I drove down just a wee bit earlier, turned off at Moffat about 6:10pm, absolute cloudburst from D&G border almost to Moffat turn off, visibility almost zero, rain, spray and lots of surface water. Scary. Surprised there wasn't still surface water there when you came down.
  21. You said it first. Good to have a keeper that commands his area too. .
  22. Aye, Botterill just doesn't look confident at all with pens.
  23. Don't forget the penalty shoot-out. Sadly it'll probably be the wrong Queens that win that.
