  1. You’d think Scott Gardiner would be taking a back seat these days, though. A lifetime of licking the monarchy’s boots, only for his adopted “city” to be rewarded with Prince F*cking Andrew.
  2. It reads very much like (what was presumably) Scott Gardiner’s ridiculous statement about their injury problems the other day.
  3. Maybe I'm just wanting a better standard of a game but no matter what team it is I'm not seeing that as a penalty. Its contact sport. Just because you get a slight hand on you doesn't mean it's a foul and doesn't force you to ground. You really didn’t need to write a paragraph to tell me I’m right but you wish I was wrong. We established that anyway. See above. We’ve got Raith fans trying to re-write the rule book because they’re in a strop about a decision correctly going against their team, after they got away with another two. It’s the absolute definition of a meltdown. And to be honest, after the last few days of reading this thread, I’m really enjoying the fallout from yesterday’s game. It’s been a fantastic read, though not as enjoyable as watching the tears and snotters unfold in front of my eyes about 5pm yesterday.
  4. Sorry we'll have to agree to disagree then. I don’t think just agreeing to disagree cuts it tbh. If you don’t understand the rules of the game, or as is more likely the case, aren’t prepared to see them applied because your team has suffered as a result, then he’s quite right to point that out. You might disagree with what the rules should be, but it was quite correctly given. No amount of mewling and making up your own rules changes that.
  5. First win against you at Cappielow since a 3-0 win in February 1999, my main memory of which was queuing behind the goal during the game for a ticket for the Scottish Cup quarter final against Celtic a few weeks later. If we were to look at it the way Dunfermline fans look at their usual routine hounding from us, we’d be labelling you as our bogey team, but in reality you have of course just been better than is over that period. Highlights of the last win;
  6. Aye, doesn’t take much more than a couple of early season wins for them to kid on they can flex a bit of muscle and withdraw the black and white pound. Time for the board to get down on their hands and knees and beg for Trogdor and Buckfast’s £22 I suppose.
  7. I took “dodgy” as “difficult to get to”, rather than “dangerous”, which K Park clearly is. It’s about a half hour walk from the train station and 10 minutes walk from the nearest bus stop at High CommonRoad/Colonsay, and even with that, the only service that stops there is the 21- the least frequent and longest journey from Glasgow. A community football club should be able to provide spin offs for local businesses in their community, such as shops, pubs and restaurants who gain from the passing trade. But in EK’s case, the only beneficiaries I can see are the cricket club. I suspect things will be even worse if they ever move to Langlands. How the hell do you get there on a bus? Going on a bit of a tangent now, but I noted another poster saying that the Showpark would be unsuitable because of traffic issues and that would certainly be the case if EK were to grow but my preferred site for them to build a ground would be the Kirktonholme pitches, right beside the train station and within walking distance of the village, but I don’t see the two amateur clubs who own it being too keen after all the work they’ve put in to bring them up to scratch in recent years. If money wasn’t an issue, I’d suggest knocking down the white elephant extension to the shopping centre and relocating the shops into empty units elsewhere and building a ground but that’s clearly not going to happen either. Whichever way you paint it though, K Park is a horrendous place to go for a game if you don’t have a car (it’s not that great if you do have one) and I doubt the club will be able to grow their support in a town where the current generation has nailed it’s colours to the mast and where future ones will have to trek out to the middle of nowhere for a game. What decision EK make on their ground will be the biggest one they ever make- sadly I expect to see some charmless monstrosity in the middle of nowhere like Inverness have.
  8. Is asked one of the directors about the prospect of Poplatnik coming in at the MCT EGM in June and was told that the sort of money he was after was so far out of our price range it’s frightening. Things may well have changed a couple of months down the line with no club having signed him, but I’d imagine we can forget it.
  9. I didn’t say supporters exist purely as income sources for their clubs, but you know that anyway.
  10. “Twenty’s Plenty” for away fans is great in theory, but I’m not having the practice being so great. Excuse the back of a fag packet figures, but take two extreme examples in the Premiership- Celtic allow, say 700 away fans into their ground at an average of around £25 if we consider concessions. Cut the adult price to £20 and call the average about £15? Celtic lose £7000 on the away support, a tiny percentage of their matchday income for a 58,000 crowd. Livingston allow, say 7000 Old Firm fans into their ground. If we’re assuming the same prices, that’s £70,000 worth cut from what they would bring in from their bigger gates of say, 8500. I’ve seen this campaign gaining traction in the English Championship, but there’s not such a spread in stature of the clubs there that it’s maybe doable and will have similar impact on most of the clubs. The two clubs who would suffer least from this in the Premiership are likely to be Rangers and Celtic, who coincidentally are the two whose gate receipts suffer least from live TV coverage. It’s maybe all well and good for me paying a wee bit less on the Championship to see Morton away, but it’s a no from me if smaller clubs for whom every penny’s a prisoner are the ones to suffer.
  11. Not necessarily. Remember that if an investor was intent on keeping their level of shareholding they’d have to continuously invest given that MCT’s subscriptions are being invested into the club on a monthly basis and would, through time dilute an external investor’s shareholding. That said, I agree with the gist of your point. The fact that this investor, whoever it is, pulled out because they wanted to remain anonymous strikes me as a bullet dodged. How anyone could expect those sort of terms for investing in a community run club is a mystery to me.
  12. How fucked do you think we’d be if his son’s plan to keep the club’s only asset for his family had come to fruition? Nobody believes he deliberately sabotaged Morton, but he failed in his duty of care to the club by trusting his family to look after it after his passing. Only a fool would claim that he wouldn’t have left us in such a mess, and it would take an even greater fool to act as some sort of prophet that sees something the rest of us can’t after previously being so wrong.
  13. A few hours ago you were telling us that Dougie Rae wouldn’t have let the club fold in the seaside leagues. His plan for after his death was to pass the club down to a dis-interested family who chanced their arm at taking the club’s only asset for themselves and charging us rent for the use of it, don’t give us the bullshit that you’re the only one who can see the wood from the trees, here.
  14. What was the script with the stewarding and policing yesterday? Don’t think I’ve ever seen so many folk openly drinking carry outs or absolutely steaming at a game as yesterday, and don’t recall seeing a steward anywhere until the ambulances appeared. There were folk lying on the grass verge comatose with puddles of sick at their side, and when the paramedics and cops turned up they must’ve wondered wtf was going on. Did Cowdenbeath decide just to coin it in for one last game, let everyone in regardless of what nick they were in and steward a 2000 crowd the same way they would a 300 crowd? With the obvious exception of the guy who had to be treated, it was quite funny to watch, but how could the Bonnyrigg fans and Cowdenbeath as a club get away with not giving a toss about any rules regarding bevvy?
  15. I can quite understand why beating Morton is considered such a memorable event for Dunfermline fans in this era, but I don't think it was that big a thing back then. Boe was only registered with Morton for a short time and played three games- I doubt he was capped during his time at the club.
  16. Marko Rajamaki and Jannie Lindberg were capped by Finland whilst playing for us in the First Division (95-97) and in the Second Division (94-95) and Paul Fenwick was capped by Canada whilst playing for St. Mirren (96-98) and ourselves (98-2000), winning the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2000 whilst at Morton. He never played for Morton again as a punishment by Hugh Scott by having the temerity to stay in the tournament long enough to win the thing.
  17. Good to see it was impossible for Falkirk to win the League One title before Dunfermline, in a permanent relegation battle from pretty much day one in the Championship, were out of the title race. What a monumental cluster f*ck of a club, amazing.
  18. Andy McNeil was very much in the Jack Hamilton mould for us- came into the club with a horrific reputation from his previous clubs and had us fearing the worst, but turned out to be a more than competent deputy for Gaston and I’d have had no complaints about him taking the jersey. Was sorry to see him leave.
  19. Disappointed with the omission of Donovan Simmonds.
  20. There’s nothing worse than a fan of your own team coming up with sh*te like this. He’s not alone unfortunately- that atrocious “fan’s page” on Twitter has been peddling similar nonsense for a while now.
  21. F*ck that. Arbroath’s a good awayday, will probably never be as strong as this season if they don’t go up and their ground will likely get the Victoria Park treatment if they’re promoted- turning into a plastic shoebox through time, whilst Kilmarnock would likely be clear favourites next season. There are no positives for fans of clubs like ourselves in Arbroath going up. No harm to them, but being completely selfish, I’m quite happy for Killie to swan off into the sunset.
  22. Quite nervous about this one, certainly won’t be as easy as last time. Would take 3-0.
