  1. The Meg 2 coming out in a week or so. I enjoyed the first one, weirdly.
  2. Just had an email round - someone has complained about staff bringing children into the buildings. So, don't bring your kids in. I am guessing this is because we had a woman recently back from maternity leave bring her new kid in to show off to people. Someone has taken petty umbrage.
  3. I often find that an hour or so after eating a McDonalds I feel a bit ill. Not sure what it is, but I rarely have one now since I clocked this. The worst example was about a year ago, when I was heading to Glasgow. Stopped at McDonalds for breakfast on the way. Driving into Glasgow my stomach started doing somersaults. As soon as I got to Glasgow, narrowly avoiding sharting myself, I made my way to a different McDonalds and utterly ruined their bog.
  4. For years and years my dad claimed the best car he ever owned was a Fiat Regatta. It only rarely broke down, compared to the other cars he had.
  5. Take art classes Become a world class portrait artist Draw a picture on the bog wall of Walter Smith, Ally McCoist, Tommy Burns and Hendrik Larsson engaging in degrading coitus with each other, with Captain Tom and the Pope watching on, looking disappointed
  6. There is a pub next to the Daresbury synchrotron lab. We were working there for a 48 hour beamtime. It hit 9pm and we decided to head off for last orders. We set the lab up to do a detector response (aiming a radioactive source at the detector). The plan was to run it for a couple of hours, then get back at 11ish and carry on working. Got to the pub, got hammered. They had a lock in. We had a brilliant night. No way were we heading back to the beamline, we could barely walk. In the morning the beamline scientist was waiting for us. He wasn't upset or anything, he was in fact a sound guy. But we had aimed the source the wrong way, so it spent the night irradiating a wall. And probably us when we were setting it up.
  7. On Ferrari, I started watching in the 90s when they were mince. They won a constructors championship in 1983, and not again until 1999. 16 years. And that was a huge deal at the time. We are approaching that milestone again, they last won in 2008.15 years ago. The difference is that in the run up to 1999, they were improving and challenging for the titles. They aren't anywhere near the front today. The flaws run right through the team, from leadership and strategy to hiring Carlos Sainz, always one to bin the car into a wall. Still, that record is favourable compared to the other "vintage" teams, McLaren and Williams.
  8. Having a pint. Got a random playlist going on Alexa, and this came on:
  9. Her funeral will be held in 7 hours and 15 days.
  10. I've been reading a load of Edward Gross books lately. How various TV shows and the like were made, with some interesting wee stories thrown in. I've read his ones on Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica and James Bond.
  11. 'My dog sitter euthanised my dog while I was on a family holiday - I'm distraught'
  12. If I ever find myself in labour, I'll ask for his advice.
  13. Pretty much sums up my stance, too.
  14. Headline news in the papers and on TV.
  15. It rose up with all the other robots and set off nukes around the planet, forcing the survivors to escape into space as a rag tag collection of ships protected by a single Battlestar. It was in the news, surprised you didn't hear about it.
  16. Got some Old Rosie cider in the fridge. It scares me a wee bit. Last time I had it, it gave me awful nightmares. Literally screaming in my sleep. But...I do like cider from time to time.
  17. Idly sitting on the dry grass, enjoying the sun, flicking lit matches into the undergrowth...
