  1. I'm on my own tomorrow so can play whatever I like. Trouble is, even the music I normally like I am a bit bored with. Just one of those moods I guess.
  2. We are both working from home today. She has put some music on, which is normally not bad. She's put on a playlist consisting of just Carpenters songs. Feels like I am drowning in liquid sugar.
  3. When my kids were younger they spent every Friday night with my parents. Allowed me and the wife to do something just ourselves, and my kids now have a great relationship with their grandparents.
  4. Anything by Ken Burns tends to be fantastic. Probably the best documentary maker out there right now.
  5. I remember the Burnside spin-off. It was utter dross.
  6. First, never give in. If a kid is having a tantrum in a shop, say, because they want a sweet, then do not buy them a sweet. Second, do not give them attention during the tantrum. Don't try to shush them, or try to put on a soothing voice or anything like that. Sometimes a tantrum is just for attention. I agree with @SuperSaints1877 - a distraction can bring it to an end quickly. The key think that the kid needs to learn is that tantrums do not work. They don't get rewarded for acting this way.
  7. I have that exact same storage box. The plastic bit for the lock snapped so the lid flies off in a breeze unless I lay a brick on top.
  8. I found it a bit dull and tedious. Wasn't there some dispute and the studio cut out half the original movie? Nothing says quality like editing a movie without the director's consent. That film is shite, but sadly that isn't an unpopular opinion.
  9. I first saw The Godfather at the MacRobert in Stirling. Seeing it in a cinema (with an intermission) was the way to go. Wipes the floor with Goodfellas.
  10. She texted me at lunchtime to say she was enjoying her morning and then again a few minutes ago to say she was finished and had had a good day. Relieved!
  11. Expect more of this. Every time Johnson is in trouble, the Tories will pressure someone into making it look like Starmer is in the same boat.
  12. This should read University of the West of Scotland. PTTGOMN stuff here.
  13. https://www.skysports.com/f1/news/12433/12632767/lewis-hamilton-toto-wolff-says-mercedes-driver-is-doubtful-for-canadian-gp-with-back-injury-as-christian-horner-questions-complaints He might be a bit of a bell end, but he isn't wrong.
  14. Don’t be complacent, another Covid wave is coming. Here’s how we can manage it
  15. The development of kids at a young age is something parents do worry about far too much. Both my kids couldn't walk until they were over a year old. Make no difference in the long term. But it is all about investment. Invest time in the kids, talk to them, take an interest in them, get interested in what they are interested in, read bedtime stories, introduce them to popular 1960s science fiction franchises and they will develop well. Ignore them and they fall behind. Too many parents are more interested in posting online about their kids than talking to them.
  16. Emma Raducanu. One lucky tournament and mince ever since.
  17. Was I the only one utterly cringing when David Croft went on his "Lewis Hamilton is the GOAT" stuff?
  18. Lots of heavy weather in the news about Hamilton's back. Apparently the technical rules need rewritten for all cars to fix this issue (at least, that is what Mercedes is saying). Other teams have got around this within the technical rules and, of course, they could just raise the ride height. But no - Toto doesn't like the new rules and wants them changed.
  19. My step-daughter has some friends who are like this. They had kids in their late teens or early 20s and simply don't know how to raise them at all. I look at my step-daughter's kids (who can speak, are toilet trained and all that) playing with these kids who are basically treated like big babies. The same age but have had no real parenting. The kids are seen as a source of income, and an annoyance, but no more than that. It is horrible to see. And these parents will sit and complain that social services have been visiting and blame the kids. I heard one actually say that her kid was the cause of these problems because he was "slow". The way these folk talk about their kids is shocking. I've suggested to my step-daughter that she might need new friends.
