  1. Today's trivia. Court artist Liz Cook was in my class at uni. Insufficient info for P&B. Was she a Wid? Did you pump her? Did she do a dreadful picture if your genitalia and publish them in the national press?
  2. Javelins should be easy enough to make. Just cut down some trees, fashion into sticks, add a pointy bit on the end and away you go.
  3. Ben Elton says Margaret Thatcher had principles – as he takes aim at Boris Johnson and Donald Trump on tour to save the nation
  4. Been a tough weekend. I took my wife out for lunch on Friday, mainly to thank her for being there for me. And on Saturday we learned that her dad (who she is estranged from) is in hospital having had a heart attack. She is quite upset about it, so as you can imagine our weekend has been less cheerful than usual. Pretty sure we drank far, far more than we usually would. This morning she is struggling still but on a positive note, she is utterly determined to go to the gym. This is something she is finding helps a lot. She is still at work - but might WFH this week as she isn't up to going into the office.
  5. He wasn't. Much of his 80s stand up was about Thatcher. Yet he still managed to come across as a tool.
  6. I've never liked him, even as a stand up comic in the 80s. He used to be great at writing sitcoms but aside from that, he's a rocket.
  7. Scott is sitting 3 Higher exams this week. Today, Thursday and Friday. He has studied hard so hopefully he will do well.
  8. My wife stopped talking to her dad and evil step mother in 2019. No huge falling out but just an acceptance that we were not going to put up with her vile, petty nonsense any more. Her dad hasn't spoken to his other daughters in years either, as his wife decided that it was her or them and he chose her. Last night we learned that he had been taken to hospital in Edinburgh with a heart attack. Not once did that evil woman let us know. She still has our number. She could have texted. But no, we found out third hand. My wife phoned the hospital today asking for an update. Was told that we needed permission from the step mother. My wife just said "don't bother" and hung up. She would have said no and fucking enjoyed it.
  9. Best wishes to you and your wife. This must be bloody awful.
  10. Q1. In that 10 year period Ukraine won a total of 1456 points. @SlipperyP (500) beats @101 (no answer). Q2. There were a total of 703 episodes aired of these shows (79+178+176+172+98). @alang1993 (833) beats @WhiteRoseKillie (1543) @Helpma (352) narrowly beats @mathematics (314) @SlipperyP (400) beats @The Captain (3200). To the winners
  11. Alright chaps. Both of these questions have numerical answers. These will be done on a "nearest the flag" basis. Question 1 for @101 and @SlipperyP. Add up all the Eurovision points won by our friends Ukraine between 2012 and 2021. Question 2 for everyone else, including TV winner of the above. Excluding the original pilot The Cage, add up how many episodes in total were shown of Star Trek The Original Series, Star Trek The Next Generation, Star Trek Deep Space 9, Star Trek Voyager and Star Trek Enterprise. Answers in a pm to me by noon tomorrow. @SlipperyP might need your help tagging the relevant people.
  12. What strikes me most is that the current tory government is fill of people who lack raw brainpower. Rees Mogg, Dorries, Raab, Truss and so on all come across as a bit dim. Gone are the likes of Rifkind, Willis and so on who, despite being tories, were genuinely clever. Rees Mogg in particular is the dimmest of the lot.
  13. Yep. Heard this on radio. Their policy was to keep it out of the country. No vaccines administered at all. They turned down offers of vaccines from China and the US.
  14. The big news on the BBC this morning is about a trifle for the queen's jubilee. Who fucking cares? And do lizards have taste buds anyway?
  15. 2 episodes in and I am getting seriously good vibes about this show. Another traditional star trek episode. If it carries on like this, it could end up being the best trek since DS9. Unless I have just jinxed it.
  16. Day off today. Kids at school. Taking the wife out for lunch. Having a takeaway for dinner. Having beer tonight. Day is well planned.
  17. Premature ejaculation affects most men at some time in their lives. Try not to worry about it, relax and if it persists, try yoga. Or was it another type of "quick" question?
