  1. I am following the game on text updates on the BBC site, as I am watching the dreadful Attack of the Clones with my kids. Sounds like a good call.
  2. Steven Davis on to lose the final for the second time in 14 years
  3. Mystery solved. WFH is to blame.
  4. My dad goes on and on about Quimby and Tom & Jerry. He'd agree with you there.
  5. Joe Walsh, guitarist and singer with the Eagles and the James Jang (and a solo artist) in the Blues Brothers. He started the prison riot.
  6. Oaksoft taking the side of the bosses again, trampling on the little guy!
  7. Silver lining though. Rebekah Vardy apparently caused England to get knocked out of Euro 2016 by Iceland.
  8. We've about 3000 pages to go before this thread beats the BRALT. Must keep posting...
  9. Memories change over time. Looking back on some stuff I am a little bit horrified that I didn't do more to stop bullying. In third or fourth year at school we had an English boy join us and he was bullied horribly. At PE, his clothes and bag would be put in the shower and soaked. I heard that someone shat in his shoe once. I got on fine with him but didn't speak up or confront anyone. In fifth year, a few us us set up a safe space in the school (a cupboard). The school allowed us this, just a place where one or two prefects would sit and where any kid that was being bullied could spend their breaks or lunchtimes with us and not be in the playground. No idea if this helped anyone, but there were a few guys who regularly came and sat with us. One boy was really small and was best known for playing bagpipes. he looked terrified all the time. Since school nothing comes to mind.
  10. It's like the virus isn't even trying now. Not even a new variant klaxon here, just that the old one is still knocking about.
  11. When she called she was told she needed permission from the next of kin (his wife). I can understand it - the hospital had no way of knowing if the person on the phone really was his daughter or not.
  12. With these Tory MPs, I think many are utterly bewildered that the public are demanding any help from them. In their minds this economic issue a) isn't as bad as is being made out and b) doesn't affect them in any meaningful way. To their minds, the Tory government has consisted of: 2010-2016, fixing "Labour's mess"; 2016-2020 getting Brexit done; 2020 getting the "big calls" on Covid right. We, the public, should be grateful to have had them in charge this whole time. Now, when their constituents are showing up saying they now cannot afford to eat or heat their homes, they have no answer at all and so reach for any old nonsense that comes to mind. You can eat a meal for 30p. Get a better job. Take on more hours. Use own brand goods. Wear a jumper. They do not get that voters are looking to the government to help them, and with no help coming they will possibly not win the next election. And these Tory MPs have got to be the least intelligent bunch I have ever come across.
  13. Today's trivia. Court artist Liz Cook was in my class at uni. Insufficient info for P&B. Was she a Wid? Did you pump her? Did she do a dreadful picture if your genitalia and publish them in the national press?
  14. Javelins should be easy enough to make. Just cut down some trees, fashion into sticks, add a pointy bit on the end and away you go.
  15. Ben Elton says Margaret Thatcher had principles – as he takes aim at Boris Johnson and Donald Trump on tour to save the nation
  16. Been a tough weekend. I took my wife out for lunch on Friday, mainly to thank her for being there for me. And on Saturday we learned that her dad (who she is estranged from) is in hospital having had a heart attack. She is quite upset about it, so as you can imagine our weekend has been less cheerful than usual. Pretty sure we drank far, far more than we usually would. This morning she is struggling still but on a positive note, she is utterly determined to go to the gym. This is something she is finding helps a lot. She is still at work - but might WFH this week as she isn't up to going into the office.
