  1. I prided myself on not red dotting people. As recently as November I had only given out something like 10 in total. Then December came. Since then either I have become far less tolerant or the roaster levels in PnB has risen. 2 yesterday alone. @Glen Sannox for his homophobic shite in the politics thread (clearly ignoring Div's message) and @gannonball for his post in the above thread. Was this type of patter normal before?
  2. This is a horrendous story in the Falkirk area. These villages are often where the poorest folk in the area live, and with the highest bills (£4-500 a month is not uncommon). The council agreed to rip these out and install gas (as is in the article) but then reneged due to the cost (not in the article). Generally this system doesn't work well, the houses are always cold, it breaks down regularly and costs a fortune.
  3. Coming back to this - story in the news about a woman paying £1400 a month. How is that even possible? https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/scots-mum-paying-50-day-26162596 I have posted about this Thermaflow system before.
  4. Cannot believe the Russians are treating our next Prime Minister so badly.
  5. Sounds like a topic for The Knowledge in the Guardian.
  6. Following on from @Shandon Par, changing behaviour is a key thing. I'm not working for the next few days and in the past this would have simply meant nightly drinking ("I'm not driving in the morning..." often the first thought). Whilst I have cut down I do get a feeling that it would be nice and normal to drink tonight. It is tempting. I work best by routine though. I drink only on specific nights of the week (and even then it is optional). Thursday is not a drinking day. So I won't be having any tonight - but there is quite a powerful temptation to simply say "f**k it" and have a few pints.
  7. This is poor. Claiming that one in three people is vulnerable when in fact the ONS states that the number of clinically vulnerable people in the UK is 3.7 million - or around 7 per cent.
  8. They can argue all they like; the result will never be overturned.
  9. Wonder how many she ate before she realised.
  10. I heard this also. She really sounded like an unhinged caller to Jeremy Vine rather than a scientist. Beattie was excellent, calmly asking her to explain official figures on excess deaths, and her reply was "It isn't flu! Flu never caused a million people to suffer Long Covid for over a year!" I don't think Beattie even mentioned Flu.
  11. Morton fan, eh? 50% of your posts are about Falkirk. Living in your head, rent free. Or you could just go and bore someone else.
  12. One more day of work then 5 days off. I still have 36 days of annual leave left to take between now and October.

  14. Many months later, but I nickname mine Whitney Houston.
  15. Got a letter from my son's school to say exams are going ahead as normal this year. The worry for me a parent is that his very first ever exams will be his Highers. Quite an introduction. Necessary though, we cannot use teacher judgement forever.
  16. On Keegan, having read her explanation I understand completely what she did. She is sitting with 3 dads talking about their daughters' suicides and gets a notification that she has tested positive. Not many people would simply stand up and march out of the room. You'd have to be inhuman to do that.
  17. The mystery of how I reached 19 stone 10 has been solved.
  18. When I was a kid growing up, there was some sort of "battle" between the Tullibody Casuals and the Alloa Casuals on the Braehead Golf Course. Don't think it had much to do with football though. Just fannies having a fight.
  19. Always a greenie from me for Star Trek trivia.
