It is a grind bud. Until you get your ship to a 40-50ly jump level it’ll feel a bit tough exploring. Make sure you get a good fuel scoop for the size of whatever ship you have (presume sidewinder?) I’d start off with the basic courier missions, build up some dough and upgrade your ship, go on a long journey and scan everything you can. Go a few thousand LY out of the bubble (general starting area) and come back, you’ll make millions.

Series S is absolutely fine for what you’re looking for. Great piece of kit as well for the price. Game Pass ultimate for the year and you’re sorted for access to all the game pass games and streaming games from the cloud as well. Series X would be overkill if your young one only plays Fortnite and games like that.

We can do some space trucking missions as well! You can try your hand at pirate hunting, but I’m useless at combat in the game so you’ll be on your own there.

I’m really sorry to hear that. The first 3 or so hours are tedious, I’ll give you that. However once you hit chapter 3, all of the upgrades, story elements, and I cannot overstate this enough, the music, makes all the UI annoyances worth it. One of the best games I’ve ever played.
