  1. This is why we have stereotypes in the first place
  2. We used (20+ years ago, under Ebbe) to rely heavily on homegrown youngsters. Playing them regularly didn't make them any less shite but did nearly get us into a relegation play off.
  3. Just had a look at our game vs Motherwell to see what important things this particular miniskirt might be hiding. I think only one Scottish player under 21 started (Lennon Miller). In addition to that, we had a current u 21 international (aged 21) starting and another local 21 year old played 2/3 of the game as a sub. We also started a 23 yo Scot. Motherwell also brought on a 20 yo and two teenagers. So out of 29 outfield players used, seven were young scots, four of whom were under 21. I'm not saying if this is good or bad, but it seems like a different picture.
  4. "a source of pride, identity, who we are and they are perfect as we are".
  5. Three works better logistically. I'd assume, hypothetically.
  6. One Belgian game does seem like a reasonable proxy for the background rate of the rest of the world. Now I'm shocked.
  7. Some very vain imbeciles inject synthetic oils into their muscles to look like they've got bigger muscles. Prompted by the Enhanced Games thread where i'd assumed i was on the wrong side of a wind up, but it looks like it's actually a real thing. Still feels like a massive hoax, like the flat earth thing.
  8. I'd not even noticed that before
  9. It could be but my reading is that compo is only for the earlier failure (495 to 508 of this https://www.ombudsman.org.uk/sites/default/files/Women’s-State-Pension-age-our-findings-on-injustice-and-associated-issues.pdf) Absolutely agree that the Tories have led the charge on running down public services and that the "savings" they make through going for small government are false economies.
  10. The pensions thing isn’t really because of this Tory Government and it wasn’t directly to make fiscal savings. The Tories accelerated the timeline and made changes to the NI rules but most of what’s being comped is a civil service failure under Tony Blair’s government. The pension ages had to be equalised because it was discriminatory against men previously. The fact that the changes made everyone equally as badly off shouldn’t be a surprise. The compensation is being recommended because the dwp didn’t act on feedback in 2005 and 2006.
  11. “War was out. War was a no-no. And, like a small child suddenly deprived of its very favourite toy, the human race mourned and sulked and twiddled its collective thumbs, wondering what to do next. Towards the conclusion of the twenty-first century, a solution was found. The solution was sport. Sporting events were, in their way, little wars, and with war gone people started taking their sport ever more seriously. Scientists and theoreticians channelled their energies away from weaponry and into the new arena of battle. And since the weapons of sport were human beings themselves, scientists set about improving them. When chemical enhancements had gone as far as they could go, the scientists turned to genetic engineering. Super sportsmen and women were grown, literally grown, in laboratory test-tubes around the planet. The world's official sports bodies banned the new mutants from competing in events against normal athletes, and so a new, alternative sports body was formed, and set up in competition. The GAS (Genetic Alternative Sports) finished 'normal' sport within two years. Sports fans were no longer interested in seeing a conventional boxing match, when they could witness two genetically engineered pugilists -who were created with their brains in their shorts, and all their other major organs crammed into their legs and feet, leaving their heads solid blocks of unthinking muscle -knock hell out of one another for hours on end in a way that normal boxers could only manage for minutes. Basketball players were grown twenty feet tall. Swimmers were equipped with gills and fins. Soccer players were bred with five legs and no mouths, making after-match interviews infinitely more interesting. However, not all breeds of genetic athletes were accepted by the GAS and new rules had to be created after the 2224 World Cup, when Scotland fielded a goalkeeper who was a human oblong of flesh, measuring eight feet high by sixteen across, thereby filling the entire goal. Somehow they still failed to qualify for the second round.”
  12. Goddammit Donny, some berk at the Sun was halfway through typing that up
  13. I did hear a rumour that Derek was in the frame for the Technical Director role. Docherty would be a surprise
  14. Sonic the Hegemon? He's all Blue and his pal Tails is Orange. Robotnik is clearly some sort of papal metaphor.
  15. Detailed statistical analysis of the media presentation of my team’s results by the sinister central belt cabal makes interesting reading. There is an undeniable bias in favour of reporting our losses in the league, with the MSM recording an incredible 200% more loss reports than win reports. Sickening.
  16. A stretch that cracks multiple joints
  17. Miserable b*****ds. I’m delighted for Patrick and all his fans that he got a day named after him. To be fair, the snakes wouldn’t have liked Ireland very much anyway. It’s not really their sort of weather.
  18. Mixed. It was quite different going forward. Much more passing through midfield and players running past and for each other. There were some up and unders but as a last resort rather than being the only thing we did. Defensively we had a bit more of a press but were still largely a shambles, didn't stop crosses coming in, caught out by long balls and always seem a man short on the edge of the box.
  19. I’d have gone with: ”have you had enough of dendrites infiltrating your cathode? Why not give our NEW porous mesh structure a go? You won’t believe how much your electrochemical performance will be enhanced” probably with a picture of a lady in a bikini, clearly needing a good dendrite infiltration.
  20. Not sure what my choice would be. It’s tough, but I think I’d go for ill informed speculation over hilariously silly suggestions every time.
  21. Been enjoying songs off the new Yard Act but don’t feel like I’d like to listen through from start to finish. Not sure if Little Simz drop 7 counts as an album. Seen it called an album and an EP. Seven tracks but no longer than 20 mins, maybe even 15. A couple very good but a couple fillers.
