All of the above are correct IMO but it’s the last one that stands out for me. Referees used to have it drummed into them from the start (I assume it still is) that you don’t make impulsive decisions, rather you take a few seconds to consider what has happened, and what the correct decision should be before blowing your whistle or waving cards around. Collum, unfortunately has never managed to do this.

What’s the point tho. Every time we play Dundee it’s always the same patter, junkies, circles, Marvin and Dayna. Surprised there’s been no mention of Liz McColgan yet tho. -
St Mirren v Killie

News just in. Sevcos now unused penalty has apparently just been donated to St Mirren. -
Mighty QP v The streets of Raith

Don’t know about nowadays, but I would be surprised if they aren’t encouraged to act as a team but I suspect it’s down to egos. Wee men with big whistles etc. As Wardy posted earlier, it’s down to the ref to give pre match instructions to the assistants, either help me out if I miss something or simply stick to offsides and throw ins, I’m in charge. Rarely, unless there’s something obvious and serious like an off the ball incident, are they asked to put their flag up. This was the case when I was actively involved, don’t know if anything’s changed over the past 20 years. -

As an ex ref myself, I fully agree with you. We were always told we were the third team on the pitch and if the ref chooses to ignore his assistants as many do, they are just making their job harder and reducing the quality of decision making. The added advantage for the ref in this case is that if the decision is wrong he can always blame his assistant…….. -
Kilmarnock v Motherwell

Kettlebell did some power of moaning. In the 4th officials face throughout the 90 minutes constantly complaining about nothing. Greetin faced Cnut. -

You would think that would be sensible, however I can still clearly remember sitting in the lower tier with the h*ns above and being subjected to all manner of objects being thrown down, including pish in crisp packets. You’d think it would be worse having the away fans up there. That’s not a dig at Celtic fans btw. -
Kilmarnock v Livingston - 21/10/23

Nouble looked a shadow of the the player of recent years but was brilliantly shackled by Mayo. Despite this, he made two particularly world class passes despite being closely marked to get teammates forward, fortunately wasted. Great result and well merited. -

But plastic pitches should still be banned as they’re ruining our beautiful game…….. wonder if whoever loses today blames the pitch. -

I hope no one gets hurt today, I’ve heard these plastic pitches are dangerous. seriously tho’, it’ll be interesting seeing how the ‘superior ‘ grass pitches hold up today given the weather. -

Happy with the point. Thought Gogic was a class apart, I haven’t seen a better player with his ability to read the game and break up play over the past few seasons. He does the dirty often unseen work very well.- 182 replies

All the more amazing. How stupid is he that thinking putting that monstrosity on an Ayr strip would be ok. Did he not stop to think how much money he is going to lose because of it, as I assume the bulk of any sales will go straight into his bank account. Crazy decision that will undoubtedly cost him hundreds of pounds. What an own goal. -

Queen’s Park V Pars

Fully agree with this. Thomas has tried and miserably failed in the top league with Motherwell and Killie. He never at any time showed he could hack it there, possibly due to his mentality. He simply just wasn’t good enough. If he has finally screwed the nut he might make it third time lucky but I doubt it. As already said, he has found his level. -
Welcome to P&B. There are only a few decent Old Filth fans on here so hope you buck the trend.
