The Famous Aberdeen - Season 2022/23
Zapp Brannigan replied to a topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Campbell would be a great signing but I think he's similar to McCrorie, just a couple years ahead in playing time at this level, probably. Ferguson is also better deeper than advanced imo. Don't think Campbell would want to come somewhere he's not guaranteed to start every week as would be the case with us. However, if we want to begin to challenge for trophies, we need strong players everywhere and not just average squad players such as Ojo. -
Aberdeen v St Mirren #FNF

Aye it's to give an extra day of recovery. But, considering Celtic and Rangers are playing on the Sunday because of the Europa League, it seems pretty pointless since there'll now only be 2 or 3 participants from the other teams in the league. -

That team is a bit of a baffler to be honest. Surprised Watkins keeps his place as well. -

I thought we played exactly how I hoped we would. I don't think the set up was negative at all. I think what really let us down was our decision making in front of goal. A bit more quality and we've got a really good chance. That's down to the players, not the manager. The zoomers of Aberdeen fans you find on Twitter/Facebook are best ignored. -

Can't even have a night out in Lisbon to enjoy, which is most disappointing of all -

We also need to be bolder. Taking the easy option back to Lewis too often. Allows them to take a breather and regroup -

Giving them a too easy time here. If they're not match fit, we need to be hassling them more -

As I feared, we gave away a cheap early chance and were punished. Played very well otherwise. We had a chance early where a ball came across the box and Watkins should be throwing himself in there to get on the end of it but didn't. A good player but give me a striker who can actually score goals -
This team aren't any great shakes. They've got some pacey players and nice touches but very little substance. One thing I've noticed is they've gone into every 50/50 claiming a foul after. I feel it's one thing Scottish teams are quite naive about in Europe. We all want the match to be played in the right spirit but a lot of these teams manage to win with dirty tactics. We should be less opposed of fighting fire with fire

Thought McInnes should've gone with a 4 when I saw McKenna wasn't playing on Sunday. The performance only emphasises that thought. We need players tonight that are going to be good at holding onto the ball. With that in mind my team would be: Lewis Logan Hoban Taylor Considine McGinn Ferguson McCrorie McGeough Hayes Watkins Logan and McGinn come in for experience. Hayes will hopefully be able to provide Considine with help on the left. Taylor is capable of very good games (SC final 2017) so will need another of those tonight. Needs to put his performance on Sunday out his head and focus on tonight. Hopefully Hoban beside him will keep him right. Ferguson and McCrorie will do the more combative and dynamic stuff in the middle with McGeough being a good ball keeping option. I think Watkins has been pretty poor the last couple games. He was frustrating to watch against Viking, obviously a lack of confidence in front of goal affecting him. And against Motherwell he was poor like everyone else. But he's actually a surprisingly good option to hold the ball up and is a more intelligent player than our other options. Although I do think Edmundson could come in instead. Our problem in big games is we usually give away a cheap chance early doors which the better teams tend to punish. Need everyone to be on their game. All that brings said, I'm excited and hope we get right into them. No fear! COYR! -

They're a decent outfit but we showed our class tonight. A very good, professional performance. If Lisbon have their COVID problems and we get a bit of luck then you never know! -

The best way to find out who you forgot is to do a Sporcle quiz -

Never really had the opportunity to show what sort of midfielder he is at Aberdeen. Whatever it was, it wasn't better than what we have now. I actually forgot about Conway! You don't need another old horse in there. If he does sign. I predict he'll be around until the end of the season then end up jobbing around the lower leagues. Probably end up back at Clyde. -

Quite a damning reflection on his recent record. Could be used as a support for Craig while Davidson is injured but from what I've seen, Bryson isn't nearly as mobile -

Bryson left Aberdeen because he wants the games he was no longer guaranteed to play. If he goes to Perth, I suspect he'll expect to play most games (if ever fit enough to, of course) -

Robertson is playing like a Sunday League full back. Any time the ball comes to him it's an instant punt.

Is that who it is... Walloper in any case

Whoever the co-commentator on the hesgoal stream doesn't seem to like Scotland or Scottish football much. Said if he was Tierney and he traveled for this game and didn't get picked then he wouldn't come back?? GTF

I don't think formation is an excuse either. For a team of footballers to fail to create a decent chance, at home, against a similar strength team is completely unacceptable at any level, let alone international. A bad performance can happen, like Friday. If it continues, however, then questions need to be asked of the mentality of the players as well as the managers ability to pick, set up and motivate them into performing.
-
The formation on Friday wouldn't necessarily have been an issue if the 2nd half performance wasn't a complete disgrace. Although I do tend to think that if the whole football viewing public, ex pros, pundits etc. are all looking at that team and thinking "eh??" Then probably the players are too. Doing the simple things well is what we should be aiming for as a start.

Zapp Brannigan replied to DA Baracus's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
I think, like others have stated on here, that he's just not suited to being a presenter. He doesn't seem to have the composure to react to the cues required and is better just being a pundit where he can express himself more freely. He could grow into the role though. It also didn't help that Michael Stewart looked like he was going to crease with laughter every time he was doing his presenting. -
