  1. Inhabitant of country voting for self-determination for that country because he happens to live in/be from that country. Mind boggling stuff.
  2. I think there is a lazy snobbery amongst some about SOD because he has played for Killie and Motherwell whilst getting capped - as you say. He is an effective right/wing back for Scotland but many can't see past his club team. If he played for Sheffield Wednesday like Liam Palmer for example, the player he basically inherited the position from, then there would be significantly less criticism or focus on him. He is of course of a standard to play for a team like SW but those who criticise him regularly probably also bang on about the "gulf" in standard between the Scottish Premiership and the English Championship/League One. Whilst throwing generalisations about, SOD critics probably also consider that they have played to a "decent level themselves" and start their point with that . And totally unrelated, am I the only one who winces whenever penalty is reflected as a "pen" on here? Reminds me of when in a pub in London and someone kept referring to the linesman as "lino".
  3. Gilmour - McGregor - McGinn The interchanges and the flow between them is fantastic to see. We have options of course and McTominay could slip in there when we have all centre half options available, but tbh, I don't think we can better those three. Best central midfield combination in years.
  4. zing (whatever it is supposed to be imply)
  5. Your nuanced arguments going over my head. I thought when you are talking about not wishing to create borders in the UK and talking about economic arguments, you were talking about independence. Forgive me. As for not supporting the current government but dreaming of Labour being in charge instead - well, most reasonable observers accept there is a fat chance of that happening. You probably realise that but plan to sit it out no doubt. Tremendous stuff.
  6. Cost of living and the energy spike not contributed to at all by the current Government. "dense"
  7. The Govt that you desperately wish to hang on to the coat-tails of, erected borders with 26 neighbouring countries. Scottish independence would dismantle those borders in the short-term or medium term (depending on how you view the path to EU membership). Yet the creation of one border with an isolationist country is a reason you cite for the status quo. That is some reasoning. Also if you seriously think that remaining shackled to a corrupt Govt spunking billions that benefit an elite minority (whilst at the same time banking on using the natural resources that would sustain and support an independent Scotland), is an example of being seriously educated in economics, you are really on Titanic deck territory. But you know all the arguments. You see everything that is happening. And you are adamant that the Tories remain the best answer
  8. I love those occasions I am in the pub myself. Admittedly will have a paper or a book with my pint but phone will do in absence of anything else. Whereas I have a weird pal who if meeting in the pub and he gets there before me, after checking am not there, he will stand outside until I get there. Mental behaviour as I have told him dozens of time.
  9. say what you want about our millionaire Eton-educated betters, they have their finger on the pulse of your ordinary Joe and know what makes us tick: And millions of fuckwits in this country love the class system which is exemplified by the current Government, Parliament more generally and specifically by the House of Lords and the monarchy. Millions of working class people who vote Tory do so as they like to know their place and get to tell others their place who happen to be a few strungs closer to the bottom than them. Many who rally against the class system, drop their principles like a bag of tatties when they are offered a punt: I piss myself laughing any time a politician accuses someone of talking this country (UK) down or starts talking about how great the UK is. How the f**k anyone would want to live here as opposed to pretty much any European country is beyond me. And now thanks to these self serving fuckers on both sides of the house, the ability to freely live and work anywhere in Europe has been closed off - mainly on account of those who know their place following the lead of their masters. This fuckin country
  10. I'm alright Jack and therefore others should be alright. And here is why.....
  11. I know everyone has their priorities in life and it is possible to retain your passion for football whilst at the same be aware/alert/concerned about Ukraine and its people and the emerging humanitarian crisis enveloping Europe on account of Russian military aggression. But some folks are still banging on about limited international fixture windows and the mess Ukraine's inability to make this play-off date will have - seemingly either completely unaware or couldn't give a flying feck about the magnitude of what Ukraine and it's people are facing. What is important at the end of the day is the international fixture calendar and ensuring clubs and domestic leagues are not inconvenienced by having to accommodate some additional international dates further down the line on account of some piffling situation in Ukraine.
  12. I can't see past the fact they have kids and it will focus on their family issues and the kids inevitably inheriting dad's powers. It has all the hallmarks of the cliched American tv approach to family life ("bud", "sport", "champ") that I find quite nauseating and reinforced by a lot of the DC tv shows that portrays groups of people supporting the hero (The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl etc) as "family". Not that I have an issue with families (ha) just the way they are presented on tv shows. And of course I haven't made the plunge to actually watch it based on my pre-judged prejudices!
  13. unless I have completely missed something then it is applied because it sounds similar to the Loch Ness Monster but even then you need to pronounce it "Monsta" - ala that hideous football agent Erik Hall who had 5 mins of fame - for it to sound anything like Drogba.
  14. yet despite obsessive jingoism, corruption, lies and falsehoods, contradictions, ineptitude and policy u-turns emerging week after week, all under-pinned by the backdrop of economic suicide brought on at their own behest through Brexit (which still causes miles of lorry queues and chaos), the only anger that arises in some remains directed towards the Scottish Government and Nicola Sturgeon
  15. well, if you exclude drones, tablets, biometrics, smart clothing/shoes, hands-free games consoles, and Teams/Zoom type video calls, then you called it.
  16. Islamophobia might be bad, but for the Tories who are the ones that for some reason appear to experience it significantly more than anyone else living here, anglophobia is worse: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10621875/Anglophobia-bigger-issue-Islamophobia-Scotland-tackled-politicians-warn.html Toryophobia.
  17. "- are you saying that all Brexit voters are racist? - no, I am saying that all racists voted for Brexit. - [confused] well I am insulted by that characterisation"
