  1. He did also spend last season playing alongside Gallagher and Bates which can’t have been the smoothest introduction to senior football. I’d like to see him alongside a competent central defence.
  2. He’s over 5 yards away and it’s not the most fizzing shot in the world. He’s got loads of time. Thought a second yellow was a bit harsh, but he easily could have/should have been sent off for his first challenge. f**k him.
  3. I don't think any non-OF* Scottish team in the group stages of Europe is ever likely enough to have a good enough or big enough squad to comfortably finish third. There is also the fact it looks like some of the other 8 teams in the league don't look like they're going to be absolutely terrible this year. Hearts are not going to have ten-plus point cushion from January onwards where they can lose three games in a row and not come under some pressure from the teams around them. That said, Hearts still have a decent enough squad and competent manager to be comfortably top six and will likely finish fourth or fifth (I suspect fourth). Not sure who will finish third but expect it to be one of us or United (assuming United don't make the European group stages) with County in the other top-six spot. A lot may come down to the European draw and domestic fixture list (I've not checked it). If Hearts are playing away in Europe to *insert far-flung obscure team in Israel/Azerbaijan etc* on a Thursday night then play some of the better non-OF* teams on the Sunday then they'll likely drop more points than if it's a home game Thursday then easier Sunday tie versus, e.g. St Johnstone.
  4. Cormack did say they were working on 2/3 more - hoping that another wide player means it's 3 instead of 2
  5. Quite a few reports Ronan is wanting to stay at Wolves having impressed there in pre-season. Can't say I'm too fussed over McGrath.
  6. I think Blackadder is one living off his past reputation/the fact he was crusader's boss (though they never actually won anything under him?). From what I remember when he was Italy coach, they did get pumped quite a lot but he basically blooded half the current team. I can see why he'd be uninspiring from the Italian spell, but realistically, I can't think of many other coaches with super rugby/international experience who are available or would go to Glasgow as they are currently. He was Treviso coach for their first season or two in the Pro12 so weren't great at that point but still finished 7th in their second season. The Cheetahs were decent as well.
  7. A bit surprised by a lot of the negativity surrounding this (though probably shouldn't be). A bok who has coached in super rugby, recently in the six nations and with a focus on bringing through youth players. Italy's youth system/domestic league which he was just in charge of seems to be well in front of us right now. Were Glasgow supporters really expecting Scott Robinson or Stuart Lancaster?
  8. Aberdeen have sold players for 6-7m this window alone. Agree the pricing is a joke though.
  9. Yeah, I thought that may have been the case with Boyle given he’s from the area and will be back avoiding the Saudi summer. Wouldn't be too impressed with either of them if they were to sign so hoping that’s all true. You’d imagine Boyle would be on a significant wedge if he moved anywhere.
  10. Both Martin Boyle and Charles Dunne were at the game today…
  11. The MLS transfer window opened July 7 and closes pretty early in August I'm sure. Goodwin namechecked Ramirez in his post-match interview, saying he is still very much part of his plans so we shall see. I assumed he'd have been away too.
  12. The phantom goal. Nothing wrong with that at all.
  13. Looking forward to a settled defence and seeing Scales on his debut the first day of the season...
  14. Have seen some rumours that he'll be involved in the first team squad next season. If not, you'd hope a loan to a Championship team (or maybe Ireland like Turner/Gallagher).
  15. Likewise the numerous people making the mad claim that clubs will be charging £8-£9/pint and therefore what’s the point. Anecdotally, between rugby at Murrayfield and football games down here (both EPL/Championship and non-league), pints have always been in the £5.50-£6.50 range which isn’t exactly unusual for pints in Edinburgh or London.
  16. Yep, not sure who the obvious candidate would then be if -- as has been suggested -- we leave a lot of the lions/senior players at home. Gilchrist perhaps, or someone like Matt Fagerson? I generally agree - the counterpoint would be that if we are picking a relatively small back row (by international standards) of Darge, Watson and Fagerson then we really need to make up for that bulk in the second row. This is another area where Ritchie being out hurts us massively, while other bigger guys like Bradbury haven't been able to step up to the plate internationally imo.
  17. Not a fan of Hogg as captain and I don't think he's been close to his best form since being appointed captain (never mind the debate around having a FB as captain). Jamie Ritchie should be captain for me.
  18. Niall McGinn to score an own goal and run cupping his ears to the home end please.
  19. Even comparing Shagger McGinn to that fat useless *** waster is insulting tbh
  20. Any excuse to post this - my favourite Dons goal in the past 10 years. Some player on his day even if his time had more than come.
  21. Yeah, seems to be and don't rate him anyway. Got enough permanently injured players without adding another to the list.
