  1. Think the membership scheme is an excellent idea going forward. Would be interesting to see what benefits members will get but even if they are minimal I'm sure there will be many willing to donate through the scheme purely to fund the club's progress.
  2. Completely agree. Fordyce is without a doubt Player of the Year for me, although I'd have personally given man of the match to Kerr or MacDonald yesterday. Think Leon has to get Young Player of the Year as he's been the more consistent than MacDonald but both worthy of the accolade. Going by how he's done since returning to the team I think Josh Kerr might've been in with a shout too had Dycey and Crighton not clung onto their places in the team so strongly. Very happy with our defenders at the moment and hope Kerr gets a contract extension soon like the others have already.
  3. McKay's yellow for diving has to be one of the strangest decisions I've ever seen. Fell as he hit a shot and I don't think he even claimed a penalty.
  4. Looks like it'll be a back 3 with Thomson at left wing back despite him being a right footed winger who is not a defender. Hope it's at least 343 and not 352 since that front three with Gal through the middle alone has worked and the 352 with no width was horrible to watch. Wedderburn and McKay have both had good and bad games and definitely have their uses but I'm not sure how well they'll do together in centre midfield without anyone else in support as Wedderburn is the world's slowest man and the game can bypass McKay. My first thought after seeing that lineup was "0-0"
  5. "In eresting" is maybe the best and most positive way to describe that lineup
  6. I'm sure we'll still have our loan players available for the playoffs should we end up in them. Only problem would be if Dunfermline drop down the league and finish 9th, I think in that case we couldn't play Ryan or smith in any game against them. Dunfermline should be safe (8pts clear of 9th and in 5th place themselves) but Scottish football is mad sometimes
  7. Hoping for Ryan through the middle with Carrick and Gal on either side of him. That implies a 433 but I'm not sure who I'd play in midfield. I personally think Wedderburn has done well since coming back into the team so I'd start him and Millar with someone more forward thinking, probably Murray but I'd be happy enough to see Roberts or Hawkshaw on the teamsheet. I think we should stick with Kerr over Crighton in defence and I imagine Hutts will be back in after goalie Gal's injury last week
  8. I've been critical of McKay in the past but thought he was excellent against Clyde last week and it looks like he's had a good game against Peterhead as well so I'm inclined to think a slightly new role has benefited him. Wasn't at yesterday's game but I thought Kerr was excellent last week and I think he was excellent when he was playing at the start of the season as well so I'd definitely keep him in ahead of Crighton (who started the season brilliantly but has been off the boil recently in my opinion) for now. I'm not sure about the situation with yellows and suspensions but in my opinion Fordyce is our best centre half so I hope we don't have to worry about a suspension. In any event I think we have three absolutely fine centre halves at this level so I'm not too worried. Would like to see Kerr and McKay extend their contracts this season at this point as I think they've recently shown their qualities and with both being young I think they've still got improvement in them. If we go on another good run, which we may well, I think we've still got a title challenge in us but the games against Falkirk and Raith Rovers are vital.
  9. I know there was a bit of talk in the past about what McKay's best position was and whether he was better off in midfield or defence but I think we've now only just found his best role, and that's as a slightly more advanced midfielder rather than a defensive one
  10. We'll dominate and Peterhead won't lay a glove on us. 0-0.
  11. Great to see Big Nat got into the SPFL team of the week. What a turnaround his career in Airdrie has taken recently, long may it continue.
  12. A pessimist might say that's horrible form but an optimist would note that we've been solid. Just need to kick on and start creating more chances and scoring more goals and we can go on another good run
  13. Without going overboard I don't think I could say I was unhappy with anyone's performance today. Particularly happy with the lads who've had to wait for their chances (namely Kerr and Wedderburn) coming in and having solid games. I also thought McKay was excellent despite being critical of him in the past. A good team performance and my only criticism would be that we're still trying the hopeless long throw tactic despite it not working in about three months.
  14. As far as I'm aware yes but would be good to see him return to the bench at least since he's been massive for us this season
  15. Expect it will be Gallacher MacDonald Crighton Fordyce McCann Smith Millar Wedderburn Murray Gallagher Ryan Thinking (and hoping) we end our goal drought here. Think we'll win but wouldn't be surprised if Clyde got a goal considering who they have up front. 2-1 Diamonds for me
  16. I think we'll bounce back with a win. I don't think it'll be a good game of football or a convincing performance.
  17. I'm not sure. You'd probably bring Kerr back into the defence and stick with Millar and McKay in midfield but I wouldn't be against bringing Roberts, Murray or Wedderburn into midfield or even Eckersley into a back 3. Hadn't really thought of specifics it was just an idea based on trying to fit in Gal, Ryan and Carrick while maintaining a shape we'd already tried
  18. Would be open to us trying 352 again with Gal and Ryan up top and Carrick in the number 10 role and MacDonald and McCann providing width. It was chronic earlier in the season but we had an ok run with it and it can't be worse to watch than the recent long ball rubbish.
  19. Don't see us challenging for the title anymore but it's not worth losing the head over. Disappointing but third behind Raith Rovers and Falkirk is reasonable for us this season. I didn't make the game today but what's been worrying is poor recent form and performances and it sounds like the performance was again poor. If we continue as things are going then we might blow top four and that would be a serious worry. Don't get me wrong, third would be disappointing and not a success by any stretch but it's not a disaster. Fifth would be a disaster.
  20. I think that's very harsh. With the exception of Thomson whose season has been hampered by an injury and Pyott who is clearly a young player for the future all of the players who have signed extended contracts have been regular first team players who have performed well.
  21. There's reports that we're signing Innes Murray on loan, any opinions on him or ideas of what type of midfielder he is?
  22. Great news about Carrick. I'd argue that he's a strong contender for our POTY so far so to have him signed up for next season is excellent news.
  23. I thought MacDonald was fine at Airdrie but definitely feels like McCann is an upgrade despite only being 19. Seems MacDonald is having an excellent season for Rovers though so fair play to him
  24. McCabe is Callum Fordyce's cousin I'm sure. Not sure what to make of that right enough.
  25. All of our midfielders are extremely limited. Hawkshaw extremely lightweight and both him and Roberts (who may be unfit) are more no. 10s than centre mids. Millar is a good ball winner but can't do much on the ball. Wedderburn can pick out a pass and is quite classy at times but is far too slow. Kerr and McKay are defenders. What two or three can you even pick out of them to find a decent working midfield, keeping in mind that if you pick three you're dropping one of the forwards?
