  1. As far as I can remember during my secretary days, (down in Bristol) no player under suspension could sign or play, until fines are paid etc and suspension has been served. Think now clubs can see suspension lists these days, then they shouldn't take the risk.
  2. Just throwing this one in, am due up to Scotland in January - are there many games that could be rescheduled in the WOSFL etc ? (7th - 15th) Just hoping to fill the week up somehow.
  3. Excellent work by everyone, giving me highlights to watch before I return in October. (15-23)
  4. Heaton the only club left to complete the Northern League, looks good enough. Stayed in South Shields many times - maybe back if I find the energy, long drive from Bristol !
  5. Seems like Scotland faces a similar demise to Saturday p.m football like we had in Bristol. Youngsters not committed, the costs, lack of help, people having to work etc. Guessing it's the chance to get to a game after playing in the morning, that's a big factor. Hopefully the Leagues pull through, seen some great amateur games on my travels.
  6. Seems that the costly installation of floodlights is just to enhance the grounds, and help get a licence. Would have thought it would be great to have midweek games under the lights - but even the spfl aren't that interested. PS how far is too far to travel ? 1-2 hours seems ok to me. Some cracking games so far, when are the next rounds scheduled ?
  7. My holiday finishes at St.Mirren, who should have took the lead before the penalty, couple blown high and wide. 2nd half saw decent crosses into the box, a few good saves, just couldn't take the chances. Motherwell looked happy enough with the one goal, proved enough.Thought the away fans standing, could have gone to the far corner where there were empty seats, think you're gonna get bits of trouble as fans don't wear colours - saw lots with balaclavas on after the game, thought it was a bit hot for that
  8. Also at Cambuslang, felt they lost it through mistakes - poor header back, whilst the gk should have got rid of the through ball. The big no.9 has to lead the line better, and hopefully he can get support up to him, whilst the no.7 never gave up. Beith looked a strong outfit, especially at the back, must be up around the top end this season ? Typically mistakes get punished in a higher division, enjoyed the game.
  9. Train problems see me arrive at Keanie Park just before half time,0-0 thankfully. Sending off early in 2nd half for Thorn (must have been dissent, the foul didn't warrant anything) A poor goal to concede at the back, but they tried to get back into the game - corners, and a few breakaways where the final ball let them down. Not the greatest quality but a decent crowd,200 maybe ? Thorn 0-1 ft.
  10. Rare Thursday game sees me at the Site Matt Busby Complex for Central Sunday : Blantyre Albion 3 Maddieston 2 decent game for a Sunday fixture, hard to watch without linesmen at times - just had cheating ones in my day ! Some good goals, well worked 1st for the Albion, and an audacious shot with the gk off his line for 2-2 (away leveller) Maddieston defender should have gone for two stupid challenges, after he'd been done for pace.Overall enjoyable stuff, decent standard.
  11. Went to the Strollers v Gala last night, close first half with few chances. Gala 10 right from the kick off as a corner seemed to go straight in,20 and 30 both excellent finishes to kill the game.Late consolation for CSS a reward for their hard work, keeping possession and to stop giving the ball away will surely come for the young hosts. You can see what they're trying to do, an enjoyable game,Guess there were about 150+ in attendance.
  12. Have these clubs folded or moved to another league ? Some decent names gone away. Saw a similar decline down in Bristol years ago. Hope things improve asap.
  13. Went to the Steven MacMillan games at Stoneyburn today, Harthill v Airdrie u20, a decent game with the youngsters coming to terms playing against grown men.Chances at both ends 4-2. Then the final Stoneyburn v Armadale, bit scrappy at times, always felt the visitors would win -so a good effort by the hosts to win 3-1. Enjoyable day out.
  14. Never really understood BSC or even Broomhill Open Goal , imagine they'd tried to find a rapid way into the spfl or something.A modern name to attract modern, equality, unbiased, anti no-one fans, similar to the Hashtag mob down south.
  15. Excellent match report, the step up to the Lowland will see better, quicker (in thought and movement) sides and players. Tranent battled really well, just need to react quicker and link up with the forwards, who look a threat when they can get behind. Enjoyable game, nice ground, must have been well over 500 in attendance.
  16. Thought EK edged it, quicker to loose balls and more of a threat going forward. Bit of good fortune with some goals, the stronger side at set pieces won the day. Tranent a threat if they can keep possession and link up the dangerous front runners better. Any attendance given ?
  17. Returning to Scotland July 23-31, any idea if there are any u20 games/friendlies on the Friday 29th ? and any spfl games scheduled , u20 etc ? Thanks everyone
  18. Ready for my return to Scotland, July 23-31, looking like I'll take in a few Lowland League games - at least they play midweek unlike some others (why have lights if you don't use them - expensive waste of income) All reliant on public transport and rail strikes, fingers crossed again. See ya soon
  19. Just throwing this one in, anyone know when the amateur leagues are going to restart ? Hopeful of some midweek games to fill the void ! (Saturday & Sunday)
  20. Glad normal service resumes, only disappointment being lack of evening games under lights, for me to watch ! Yeah selfish I know - relying on the EOS to fill my calender now
  21. Get the reserves back up, play against same age kids and older pro,'s -learn the game and then give em a chance in the first team. Admittedly some games I'd seen were stagnant, almost non contact at times, but every spfl club should be able to manage things and bring players through their system. Agree that organisation takes some believing at times with the spfl and SFA both at fault.
  22. Decent fixtures for my July week with games Tues & Weds, leaves me with just the 29th to find a game. Trying not to involve the Colts, rather see new grounds. The start date of 23/30 had me double checking - can't wait to get going. May return to Berwick/Cowden to see how they're coping.
  23. Match fixing eh, well I'm on holiday from the 23rd so I will have games the 26th and 27th please, and possibly throw in a Friday nighter, thank you very much the fixtures secretary. The cheque's in the post !
  24. 12-16-16 with the LL and HL champions straight up. Trying to find a way to stop club 42 and others complaining. 41 and 42 play HL and LL runners-up, which gives them a decent chance of staying up. Lower legs of 16 = 30 games. Champions straight up, 2nd v 3rd semi final (against) clubs 14th v 15th semi final. Expect I've messed up the maths or lost my way somewhere - I was doing so well, in my head
