Junior football, what is the future?
Andy groundhopper replied to Burnie_man's topic in Junior Football
Just a quickie, in Bristol today a pre season friendly : Cribbs (western lge) v Burnham (Somerset) 3-1 with an attendance of 15 kicked off 1030. Thought clubs weren't allowed to have spectators, a gathering of 30 was changed to 'no spectators, gatherings of any size at training or matches' Don't know if I've misread the guidelines, seemed stupid to me. -
All part of the modern world I guess, long way from the 5 day working week - leaving the weekend for football or rugby. Was so glad to have my playing career without the modern attractions. Feel sorry for people who play from say, under 8 up to 18,then find that work stops them playing. Good luck to all clubs with attracting players.
-
Mind boggling when a club has say,4 or 5 teams of varied age. Guess kits £250+ pitch £75 a game, possible referee fees, lge and associations fees, amongst many things. Down to helpful parents and loyal sponsors.
-
Why social distance in changing rooms, players turn up in their kit or change in cars, not too hard to do eh. Sure that you can shower at home and still have time to go on the lash Yet again it's probably just a few clubs who are letting everyone down.
-
Be interesting if and when the HL get a feeder league below, from the North region, guessing say 16 clubs. Would the Tayside clubs be able to apply, if there weren't enough interested clubs wishing to join ? Appears the North Juniors aren't that keen, while the NCL wants to push on, be good for the pyramid - would give it a firm solid base to build from in the future.
-
Heard the rumours about a smaller Cup, guessing that it's only for this season due to starting late etc ? With the spfl 27 game schedule, think it's just a case of getting the season done , with all things shortened. That's if we even start by October with no interruptions over winter.

EOS Grounds for Optimism
Andy groundhopper replied to HibeeJibee's topic in East of Scotland Football League
So you did that ! Bet you've done it in subways etc, like a young Banksy at work ! Looking forward to the new season, haven't been to many EOS grounds yet, depends on if I can get there via trains and buses. -
EOS Grounds for Optimism
Andy groundhopper replied to HibeeJibee's topic in East of Scotland Football League
Was a reaction to the graffiti at one of the clubs of the male truncheon ! Childish drawing by whoever did it, followed by my Victorian Dad attitude to crime and punishment ! Go back a few pages on this thread to find the picture. -

Blatant sexism,I demand graffiti of women's bits n pieces. Catch em, hang by the balls, pure pleasure for some -
Be interesting, guessing most clubs still have expenses to pay somehow. Looks like the Donate a ticket had best keep going until we're allowed back in ! Am surprised we haven't heard of clubs on the brink, even now. Quite a few have moved to a lower level down here in England, finances dictate.

Players keep their own kit, turn up alone in their cars, go home to shower. Fans buy tickets in advance, socially distanced around the ground, behave properly at snack bars etc. As with St.Mirren recently, makes testing a bit of a mockery when it can't be trusted. Personally I can't see grassroots, non lge with supporters coming back until next year, after say 15 games have been played - no problems found.
-
Petershill would benefit from a terrace/cover being built on the far side, and behind the goal near the 3g training pitches. Thought Renfrew a typical new ground, neat and tidy, though I prefer to watch the game from above, rather than ground level, fussy sod. Will try to make some games in the East asap, just got to organise my bus rides better !
-
Do you think many disinterested spfl fans would take in non lge football, or doesn't that happen in Scotland ? Then you have the fans desperate for a game somewhere, we have loads down south Maybe I'll adjust my attendance to 100+ then !
-
Hopefully this guy will find some junior games next season, then can remark how brilliant they are, go north young man. Enjoy his defence of the grade, be a shame to lose him. Any news on any ground developments at E.K ? thought it was a basic starting ground but needed updating asap. May pop back next season to have a look.
-
Is there enough interest in the North over expansion, feeder league's etc ? what with the travelling and the costs involved. Can't see there being enough fans, players to back up any restructure plans, everyone happy with the current set up.With both HL and LL 16/18 clubs, the battle royal will always be in the south.
-
A crowd of 300 can easily be socially distanced around the ground, but the impression I get is 'If I can't stand next to / If we can't have a few drinks beforehand/after the game etc then I won't go' We all have to do things differently, where the spfl crowds are spaced out, when to eat and drink etc, sure the sensible fans are ok - just the idiots set to spoil things. Well done Liverpool and Leeds fans, proves my point.
-
Would like to think the SFA make a statement asap, game results are usually legit after so many minutes played (some leagues) so let's say once you've played everyone home and away, that's it, results stand. Glad the Hearts thing is over now, just waiting for the TV mini series to come out. How about playing for 0 points as losing/getting beaten IS unfair.

Null and void u-turn
Andy groundhopper replied to Killiesquirrel's topic in West of Scotland Football League
Totally correct as I guess that nearly everyone on P&B loved watching the juniors over the years. Reactions are like going from amateur to the seedy, money driven, drug fuelled, cesspit of professional football. I admire his love of the junior game, but his anti, doom mongering are way over the top, entertaining though -
As with the English non league, is there any point in playing until the fans can be allowed in, producing income etc ? Been a bit quiet on the supporter front, though they tested a crowd at cricket the weekend just gone, seemed to go ok. Clubs around Bristol are arranging friendlies for August with some council pitches already marked out. Don't know how it's gonna work just yet.

The Big Relegation Thread

Relegated without compensation ? Everyone gets parachute payments these days, back to the courts soon I guess...Unfair. -
Junior football, what is the future?
Andy groundhopper replied to Burnie_man's topic in Junior Football
Do the WOSFL premier clubs have to play games on the designated grounds, or could they use any ground with lights to get fixtures out of the way ? Guessing that playing midweek would be preferable to training sessions, adding a possible bad weather winter to spoil things further.
