Fulham 2-2 Liverpool @ Craven Cottage . Opening day of the 2022-23 Premier League season and an early start. Fulham made life very difficult for the visitors who were far from their best and were forced to come from behind twice and settle for a point. Crowd around 22,000.

Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale 1-2 Penicuik Athletic @ Ainslie Park Stadium. Friday night EOSFL, Premier Division action in the capital. Penicuik reduced to 10 men (DOGSO) but take the lead. Lothian level before HT but the visitors snatch it 6 minutes from time. Crowd 106.

Edinburgh South 0-3 Heriot-Watt University @ Paties Road Stadium on Wednesday night. Back to Colinton for more midweek EOSFL Division 2 action with South ground-sharing here this season. The visitors, 2-0 up at the break, run out convincing winners. Crowd 68.

Stopped off at Liverpool 0-3 RC Strasbourg Alsace @ Anfield on the way back. Wouldn’t normally post about home games but not in my seat and got a shot of the Anfield Road redevelopment. Pre-season Friendly. The visitors race into a 3 goal lead inside the opening 25 minutes and that completes the scoring against a young Liverpool side + James Milner. Crowd around 50,000.

Leicester Nirvana 1-0 Belper United @ Hamilton Park. Noon kick-off last Sunday in the United Counties League Premier Division North. Both sides missed chance after chance, including a penalty each, before the home side won it on 87 ... from the spot! Crowd 285.

Linton Hotspur 2-2 Tweeddale Rovers @ New Moor Road last Thursday night. Really good friendly match at a cracking wee ground. Loads of chances at both ends and the woodwork hit 4 times. The home side 2-0 up in the 2nd half but Tweeddale pulled back level. Crowd 58.

Spartans 1-0 Heart of Midlothian B @ Ainslie Park Stadium on Tuesday night. A 1st half headed own goal proved to be enough for the home side. Hearts with plenty of the ball ️ but only really came close late on forcing 2 brilliant saves from Blair Carswell . An excellent crowd of 660.

Hibernian 1-0 Norwich City @ Easter Road Stadium on Sunday. Elias Melkersen’s strike just before half time proved to be the winner in today’s pre-season friendly. Norwich were much changed having played Celtic the day before. Crowd 9495.

Leith Athletic 1-0 Edinburgh United @ Meadowbank Stadium 🏟 on Saturday. A decent pre-season friendly at the refurbished Meadowbank. The home side edged it with a bit of a bizarre goal in the 2nd half with the ball taking a strange bounce over the keeper. Excellent programme. Crowd 101.

Civil Service Strollers 2-1 Rangers B @ Christie Gillies Park 🏝 on Friday night. The 2022-23 Lowland League season got underway with the Strollers coming from behind to win thanks to 2 x brilliant left footed Euan Valentine free kicks and a strong defensive performance. Crowd 461.

RB Leipzig 0-5 Liverpool @ Red Bull Arena on Thursday night. Mo Salah with an early goal before new signing Darwen Nunez came on at half time and run riot . Really impressive ground and tickets 🎟 great value ... adults €10 & €5 for the wee man. A sell out crowd of 47,069.

Berliner AK 07 4-4 VfB Lubeck @ Stadion Rehberge, Berlin . Great friendly match played in the sweltering heat - 36 degrees at kick-off (6.30pm). The home side came back from 4-2 down to level in the 2nd half. Crowd of around 80. Somehow managed to miss @Craig fae the Vale !
