  1. I would say he’s easily as tall as Donnelly and I think he’s 6’4” or 6’5”.
  2. Strange highlights, look like they were cobbled together in a hurry. Would have liked to have seen TOBs chance from 6 yards out again where he seemed to hesitate and take an extra touch when all he had to do was put his laces through it. Dowds really should have done better with his chance.
  3. Great overall performance today. Very much reminded me of the Kelty cup game the other week - a fairly uninspiring first half performance where we looked to keep it tight followed by a swashbuckling second half playing towards the Pleasureland end. When we're on the front foot we look almost unstoppable and create barrow loads of chances with high-energy attacking play. Can't believe how fit the whole team look and would love some of what guys like Low and McKenna have in their half-time cuppa. Looks like Nouble could be just what we were missing in the early part of the last two seasons and like the look of Paterson. Brilliant that we've scored as many league goals in 3 games this season as it took us 10 games to get last season. Also, am I the only one who thought there was far more than 1600 there today?
  4. Is there any other kind? Got to be careful though as there's literally gallons of the stuff swilling aboot. I also want to be sober enough to watch the highlights later.
  5. Not yet but just opened my first bottle of Big Jock's tears so it won't be long, yumm. Can't wait for the highlights.
  6. Na, you must have been one of the Thistle fans chucked oot if you think that was an even game. Stats can mean nothing (even though they are in Arbroath's favour) as our chances were proper goalscoring efforts whereas Thistle's were half chances or speculative, long range hit and hopes.
  7. Aside from the two (I would say one) goals your keeper sold, we had by far the lions share of good chances and on another day we could have scored 6. Also, what about your freak goal? (perhaps you couldn't see it from the other end but it was reminiscent of Tommy Boyd v Brazil) Aside from that Gaston barely had anything to do.
  8. After your result at Dunfermline (favourites for the title for many, including me), I don't think anyone would have begrudged a bit of optimism in the Thistle support. Can't you just admit that you were well beaten today and that it had more to do with how well Arbroath played as opposed to Thistle being terrible. As I've said before, I love how we're written off by other team's fans, particularly ones that are new to the division.
  9. f**k sake, fickle or what - you were winning the league this time last week.
  10. Some donkey turning your defence inside oot for 90 minutes. He’d ride you on a beach nae the other way round.
  11. Really? Surely another goal threat was always the main priority. A young, energetic striker could be a perfect foil for Nouble.
  12. I agree but don’t think we will, certainly not while we’re in the championship. If not and if it’s all to be barcode/QR code then it would be good to have a ticket office/window on the wall where printed tickets could be purchased up to kick off, pretty sure they do that at Pittodrie and others.
  13. I’ve got a pal who is adamant that end is smaller and the roof lower but it’s definitely not. I think it’s simply because the sun shines into the harbour end.
  14. I’ve always preferred the pleasureland end and, aside from big cup games with segregation, that was always the end the home fans congregated in pre match when I was younger. Not sure when that changed but possibly when we were last in the Championship in the early 2000s. I understand that it may pose logistical issues for some games but I would love it if we got that end as a matter of course for segregated games.
  15. Well they were open last Saturday for our game v Kelty so can’t see it being a problem.
  16. Highest we’ve ever had. I think it’s great but no doubt that amount will be scoffed at by some of the big time Charlies in this league. Not only are Arbroath the only part-time side in the league but Arbroath is also by far the smallest town. Pretty much every other town in the league (apart from Glasgow obviously) is at least double the size. Dumfries the next smallest but still much larger than Arbroath. Also factor in the decades of general shitness and I think it’s pretty impressive how well we’re supported at the moment. Could still be better obviously but the more seasons we spend at this level, the more kids in particular, will follow the team. When I was younger there were hardly any kids in the town that went to games or openly supported the team, now you see kids in AFC tops all the time and there’s always a healthy turnout at every game.
  17. You’re being silly now. Goldie’s already had his shotty in goals, it’s someone else’s turn now.
  18. With Henderson suspended and ToB back, this is a perfect opportunity to play Gaston in midfield, Donnelly can have a crack in goals, always thought Rab Douglas could play striker, Antell centre mid and Bobby Linn selling the pies.
  19. Shocker. I was half expecting the ref to give him a yellow.
  20. Are people really taking my suggestion of playing Little in midfield seriously? FFS it was a daft wee conversation about how to accommodate Little, ToB and Henderson in the same team, while also playing Hammy on the left and Stewart or JT at right back. We have at least 10 guys who can comfortably play in midfield so I and everyone else know it would never happen in a million years.
  21. I have a feeling Dunfermline are going to win and Kilmarnock and Raith will be in the top 4. Aside from that I think it’s too hard to predict. From an Arbroath perspective, we could end up anywhere from 5th - 10th dependant on getting a decent loan or two in.
  22. Hey, we’re only bullshitting about how to fit the three in the same team. I’m not actually being serious, especially as we have so many good options in midfield.
  23. Yeah, we have a lot of good options to bring on in midfield. Gold was brilliant on Saturday when he came on, clark also very good and Paterson to come in too. If we were to play all three then how about Ricky Little in the centre of midfield and ToB and Henderson at the back. Ricky is obviously brilliant but lacks the physical presence against big centre forwards.
