  1. The Pleasureland end was always the traditional home end up until maybe 20 years ago. It’s been Changed back this season, partially to enable Arbroath to have more stand seats but also I think it’s something to do with most fans preferring that end. I certainly do.
  2. Hamilton's no Nouble but I'd take him back in a heartbeat. His 8 goals played a big part in keeping us up last season.
  3. We’ve got a very versatile squad with quite a few players able to move around comfortably in several positions - Stewart, Craigan, Gold, Henderson, McKenna. I think Campbell likes players like that and I think they’re necessary when operating as a part-time team, with a small squad in a tough league.
  4. He’s a very good player. Can’t see us losing him in January or summer for that matter, what contract is he on? if it’s short, I would get it extended pronto. Also don’t know what he does as a job but he might be happy being part-time.
  5. Shows how far the club has come in the past few years when some fans are slightly disappointed with a battling away draw to Morton with some influential players missing. Every point is precious and despite our incredible start, a bit of introspection is needed at times. I definitely think, with our strongest team, that we are capable of a comfortable top half finish, even a playoff place. However, as yesterday showed, it doesn’t take much to knock the balance of the team off. To lose, arguably your two most influential players to injury at the same time is a big chunk of bad luck so to come away with a point is pretty good imo.
  6. Very good question. He was brilliant on the park for us, a very classy player. If my memory serves me right, there was a period in his first (title winning) season where we were losing our way a little when he got injured at Brechin I think. He missed a few games but it gave him more time to concentrate on the management role and we got back to form. I think our form under him only really tailed off when he had off-field issues. Our first three seasons with him were - 1st (league 2), 2nd (league 1, lost in playoff) then 5th in league 1 so no obvious tail off until his 4th season where we were poor and relegated but, as I said, I think he had some personal issues to deal with.
  7. Really surprised at how Sheerin is doing with you guys. One thing I was convinced of was that he would have you playing exciting attacking fitba. As I’ve said here before, when he was with us (Arbroath), one thing you could be sure of was plenty of goals - for and against. I can only think that it’s one of two things, either he had no real idea what he was doing with us as he was still learning management and just decided to go for it… or his spontaneity and enthusiasm for attacking fitba has been coached out of him at Aberdeen. I reckon it’s probably a combination of both. Still think and hope he’ll come good for you.
  8. I genuinely thought they were finished after both being completely invisible v Aberdeen’s kids the other week. Hilson must have some set of incriminating photaes of Dick.
  9. Happy with a point - by all accounts played badly (although the stats seem to favour us), missing our two most influential players + the excellent Gold and fighting back for a point. With ICT and Killie both losing then it’s been a decent day.
  10. So no Low, Nouble or Gold today. Hilson in for Low and Donnelly for Nouble
  11. Are we allowed to use the weather as an excuse if we lose? “Greenock gets much more rainfall than Arbroath so of course their payers will be much more used to playing in these conditions, giving them an unfair advantage. In fact, I don’t think it really rains anywhere else in Scotland and our players never have to play in conditions like that unless playing in Greenock.” Sounds ridiculous doesn’t it?
  12. That was a great performance and totally unexpected. Sorbie and Mac Donald were brilliant. I vaguely knew a Morton fan back then and he wasn’t very happy. Don’t remember any fighting but that’s not my thing.
  13. Bang on. There are times when the wind is very strong at gayfield and, on occasion, it will adversely effect the game. At times the game becomes a farce but that is very rare. If Friday was considered worse than what any other team is used to then I must be living in a parallel universe. This is Scotland ffs and most places are windy, I live in Aberdeen and I would say it’s a windier place than Arbroath.
  14. I can’t believe the guff being talked about this supposed strong wind and tough conditions at gayfield on Friday. It was about 15 degrees ffs and the flag was barely moving most of the time in what could be called no more than a breeze, a stiff breeze at worst only occasionally during the match. In fact there were times when the flag was hanging totally limp. Where the feck are Kilmarnock playing every week if some of their fans (and the media) think that was anything other than near perfect conditions for fitba, particularly in Scotland, in mid-September.
  15. I thought Chris Hamilton had a slow start on Friday, their winger had him on toast for the first 10-15 minutes but then he grew into the game and was very solid from then on. I agree that I think Paterson could do a good job in place of Low. He's got the ability with the ball at his feet and looks like he has a lot of creativity. With Henderson, Craigen, Stewart and McKenna around him to impose a bit more physicality then he could shine in that creative midfielder role. Also think Gold could do well their too - he's so versatile he can play anywhere and do well.
  16. Very enjoyable evening overall and would have bitten your hand off for a point pre-match so not too down hearted that we didn't take at-least one of our chances. On another note - it was nice to see out stewards covering themselves in glory yet again post match behind the main stand - some over officious p***k man-handling 10-12 year old kids who had the temerity to "invade" the pitch at the end. Sure, give them a wee telling off but a grown man grabbing them by the arm and marching them to a wall to gie them a telling is embarrassing and fucking disgraceful. I have kids that age and if he did that to mine I would have punched his specks doon his fucking throat. Those kids - the future of the club - could now decide never to come back and who would blame them?
  17. Well that was quite an enjoyable evening, just needed a goal to make it perfect. The only big difference I can see between Killie and Partick, Hamilton and Dunfermline is that their defence is more robust. All of them seem to have no idea how to break us down, how many shots has Gaston had to save in those 4 games? about 3 or 4. Also can't believe I have heard the "conditions" being mentioned. Gentle breeze and about 15 degrees on a bowling green surface. Nicky Low's injury looks bad, especially when you see that photo above.
  18. Calm down? Just having a laugh. Got a lot of time for killie actually, especially when they’re getting it right up the OF.
  19. Are you sure? Maybe I was listening on the radio. Was the first leg televised?
  20. Ok, maybe you’re right. The last time I remember watching Killie live on TV was when you got pumped oot of Europe by those Welsh hammer throwers. We’ve been on 3 or 4 times since then but no biggie. I just hope those floodlights hold up to the big game pressure.
  21. Drama queen If you read my post again I did say that most of the posters are level headed and reasonable, it’s my second sentence ffs.
  22. Had a wee look at Killie Kickback, what a hoot. Most posters are level headed and reasonable about tonight’s game but there are some absolute belting posts. TOB (the entire team) is slow and crap; easy 5-0 scudding; win or the manager has to be sacked; expecting a floodlight failure as these old grounds aren’t used to TV games - even though we’ve had more games live on TV than Killie in the last few seasons. Now, I fully expect this to be by far our toughest test so far, I expect to lose and we’ll have to be at our very best to get anything out of the game particularly with players out, but some of the comments are like a “Greatest Hits” of what we’ve been hearing for the last 2 and a bit seasons.
  23. Understand if that was the forecast or if Killie were bringing 2k+, but not one single forecast is predicting anything other than decent weather for tomorrow night. It’s nice to be nice but how many other clubs are so considerate to visiting fans, while also taking away one of the advantages of being the home team? As per the Hamilton game - the section of stand, harbour end and round to the end of the enclosure must hold close to 2.5k so way more than enough for any of our league opponents this season. IMO we should be using every advantage that we have.
  24. Really don’t understand the need to give Killie so much of the ground. They will have 1000 max and the same share of the ground that Accies had would be way more than enough. It was brilliant being able to get down towards the harbour end and definitely gave the team a boost. We’re the home team and should look to use any advantage we can.
  25. Really hope we keep the segregation as it was for the Hamilton game. Such a boost for the team having the fans able to get close to both ends. Even if Killie bring 1k fans, the harbour end plus a bit of the stand is more than enough. Never liked how Arbroath would give visiting fans half the ground (unless they were bringing 2k+) when most teams put visiting fans in a crappy wee corner or section of a stand.
