R.R.FC
What a fucking win and performance. Given the situation the last couple of weeks and having not played in 4 weeks, that is right up there with the win at Pittodrie for me as McGlynn’s best. Wins at Tynecastle, Easter Road, Pittodrie and Ibrox in the last 10 years. Not bad for a club our size.

CALDERON
Just build a statue of him ffs. People actually wanted Mcglynn gone at the start of last season. Unreal.
embow
James Logan, Sandy Archibald, Bert Herdman, Jimmy Nicholl. Just add John McGlynn to the list of the best.

What Nicholl did won't be repeated by anyone. Ever. Whenever anyone hears I support the Rovers, they immediately mention Bayern and Celtic. I would hold Mcglynn very close to Nicholl though. He's brought the club up from the doldrums, twice and defied the oldest saying in the book of "never go back". The way he completely changed his style in between spells is remarkable. When he came back, some people were losing their nut because he played shit football and didn't give youth a chance. Interesting.

McGlynn was always known as a great coach and managed to squeeze everything out of some very average players. Every team was greater than the sum of its parts and worked wonders on small budgets. While that all holds true today I think he has learned a lot tactically and makes better use of the substitutes while he's been away. He's also able to make use of some good youngsters and has used his new found scouting abilities and contacts to tap a rich vein down in England. I'd honestly slap down a 10 year contract in front of him today. We won't do better and the man loves the club.

embow
I think a bit of credit might be due to Brendan Rogers and what J McG picked up from him and learnt from him in his 5 years on the Celtic backroom staff. I remember saying to a former chairman that it was good to see John back to which the reply was something along the lines of .. "He was the one person we could possibly go for to get us back on track. The only one even considered." Make what you will of that. grumswall
The fact you can visually and audibly see that he's still suffering the effects from covid, further enforces what a great performance it was from him today.
