Where did you read that.According to Ian mccoll there would be no chance of Ayr going full time.

Don't know where you read that considering it's McCall that has been fighting for Ayr to go full time for the last 18 months and he's finally managed to convince the board..

Positive news! Ayr Utd and Airdrie both full time squads. Smaller budget which will mean relying on the Dev Team as Young had said.

While this may be true for Airdrie, McCall has said that his squad will be 18 professional players and 6 or 7 youngsters that will be in and around the first team. Airdrie used the model of a youth team with a small group of senior players and while it got them into the play offs they didn't win the league.

Should make for an interesting title race though.

McCall made it clear last week on Radio Scotland that he'll do everything he can to bring Ayr back up. Also mentioned how he told the Chairman NOT to go full-time after they were promoted as he felt they weren't ready for the jump yet. The drop in league could be the perfect time to get something put together in order to mount a title challenge.

Hit the nail on the head at the end there. McCall said that while he was gutted we got relegated he feels that playing our first year in this league is a better basis rather than trying to establish ourselves in the Championship.

Can't fault his thought process, just hope it pays off and we beat you lot to the title.

All in the name of friendly competition of course.

And I league 1 as opposed to championship. Will believe this when I see it.

looks fake

Just realised the link doesn't work

Here's the quote from Twitter

"It has been confirmed that Ayr United will go full time for season 2017-18 (and with plans for the future). Detailed interviews with manager Ian McCall and Commercial Manager Graeme Miller look at what this means for The Honest Men both on and off the park."

Pish, we'll blow the budget to get up next season, end up in the play offs and f**k them up

Seems the most likely outcome to be fair.

Bobby Barr a Declan McManus all seem to of really enjoyed winning league one with morton and loved the moment hopefully they will be telling the players to go win the league and stay and enjoy it.

Bobby Barr didn't win League One for Morton - he was at the bumpkin outfit that sent you slithering down into the seaside leagues that season. I suspect that McManus has already left for Fleetwood with no intention of ever coming back.

I must say that watching Airdrie, Ayr and Raith all scrabbling to fund full-time football in the third tier is extremely amusing to watch from the box seats. Only one of them can go up automatically next season and even then - given the absolute dregs that the several, shan full-time teams will now be fighting over - it's not out of the question that a part-time side could win the league anyway. Particularly if Alloa end up staying down.

With so many clubs staking the mortgage on winning promotion that league looks set to be absolutely cutthroat. Enjoy.
