It's only 2 seasons ago that Partick were in a spot of financial soapy bubble, so if they're overspending this season and dont make it to the greed is good league, there just might be a cost, our mantra was meant to be value for money on players, so let's just see who Potter and Murray can turn up

Highly unlikely we will be overspending given the mess the last board left us in!! Doubt with the way the club is run now that would be allowed to happen!!

So you're not paying £1400/week?

Even if we are, that might be within the budget.

Now that the fans are in control, we will only be spending what we can afford. This past season’s accounts will show another loss due to some of the high expenses from the previous board’s recklessness still being on the books in this financial period, but I’ve been reliably informed that we won’t be running at a loss or speculating to accumulate going forward.

So much for turning us down

Every chance we loan him out there again for a bit next season maybe after Xmas , good we have signed another promising prospect and not become dads army

Aye, in lieu of an actual youth system, scouting kids from the LL like we have with Corr and Montagu is a good long term strategy.

Would imagine if we don't sign Byrne that we will still need another cm to come in unless kai is that signing and Murray sees him as being able to step up straight away, which is unlikely. Definitely one for the future and from what iv seen was highly rated at ek. Agree with what Renton says also. There's alot of hidden gems to be found if you look for them/ get a bit lucky like thistle have with mcbeth.

I'd agree. Even when a youth setup is established it can still take a few years and luck to start to bring someone through at a level you're happy with. This is a good strategy even once its up and running

I think Byrne is gone, you'd like to have thought he'd have signed on the dotted line as soon as he'd been released by Dundee, a loss to us but not irreplaceable

I think the same and hopefully the club don't overpay for him if what's been said is true. Good player and will be a loss from the squad but our midfield was our strongest area of the pitch and we've kept the vast majority of them so no reason to push the boat out.

Wouldn't surprise me if that was what we're offering and other clubs are looking to push over. I can't see Byrne being on less than £2000/week at Dundee.

Didn't you guys have quite a small squad last year?

Is it a case of going for quality players in very specific positions.

Happy to see us take a punt on this boy from EK and it's encouraging to see that we're doing a bit of scouting at that level.

With regards to Byrne and Turner, as others have said, they play in areas of the team where we're pretty strong so while it would have been nice to sign them it's not a disaster if they move elsewhere.

With five established midfielders (and Brown, as one of them, unlikely to be playing defender), would certainly expect IM has a L2 or L1 side in mind, the question would be first or second half of the season. He's already been playing "professionally", but not full time, so IM may want him close to the team for the first half. On the other hand, development now is certainly a good idea...

He is only 17 so we could see similar to what happened with Hannah, however I do think with him having played at a decent level already, he may be better getting more minutes in him and obviously training with our team early on. Haven't seen the guy play though and generally know very little about him, so will trust Murray and potters judgement with it. Micky Cameron ain't a bad guy to learn from as a cm though.
