The New Raith Rovers Thread

Recommended Posts

Pretty good signing for Raith, as I said earlier he never misses a pen, and he'll ping in a few free kicks as well, he won't get down the wing much though, tends to just cut into midfield with the ball.

Fortunately, we had Cardle for a season so we're used to it. McKeown looks like he enjoys getting forward so that'll be handy.

So in terms of set pieces, we have Conroy for free kicks and penalties, Scott for corners, McKeown for long throw ins, with two 6ft plus forwards on top of Grant Anderson, Dougie Hill and Craig Barr in the box for all ball we can swing into the box.

Keep it on the deck!

Good signing for Rovers. Conroy was a bit unappreciated at Dens at times because he doesn't take people on much and he doesn't have much in the way of pace but he's technically excellent and will chip in with a few goals and a lot of assists for you. Wish him and Raith all the best.

The added bonus of this signing is it's another player who can play in a couple of positions. So we've got Conroy who can play LM or LB, McKeown and Thomson can play as full backs or wing backs depending on the system, Barr can play CB or DM, Scott and Callachan can play CM or RM and Stewart can play left, right or through the middle. Means we can change things during games without actually changing personnel if needs be and gives us options to drop those not performing.

Throw in Campbell and we're done methinks.

Sounds like another Joe Hammil....

That sounds nothing like Joe Hamill. Did you read the part about goals and assists?

Absolutely buzzing with this signing. Makes our team look so much stronger.

Kev... We were promised that about Joe too!

In all seriousness though, the team does have a good balance to it now.

He sounds like a similar player in the sense that he's not a traditional winger but Joe Hamill was never a regular starter for a team that was good enough to gain promotion to the premier league.

If we sign Campbell as well I would think that will be our squad finalised. Happy enough with our defence and midfield options but the forwards have plenty to prove.

Things are shaping up but we are still looking very light in numbers.

Last season we had a squad (players listed for matches) of 26.

This season we have a squad on the official site of 27.

We have 4 keepers this season instead of 3 last season.

If (as the Board stated) lack of strength was the reason for our collapse last season, How does having an extra keeper remedy this?
