Paco
Any tips on buying books? Had a look on Amazon and they're ripping the arse right out of it. Are there any book websites exclusively for students? Got our sixth and final flatmate today as well. Out of the other 4, I only get on with one of them and the rest are boring as f**k and seem quite content to either sit in their room and make no effort with anybody or go out with pals they already had. She's a good laugh so far so hopefully having her here will make the atmosphere in the flat a little less awkward because there's only like 2 people who actually make an effort (myself included). Loving it for the most part, though. Yeah, as others say, don't bother with books. I bought one or two in first year and never even looked at them once. The library/the internet is your friend when it comes to essays. There's thousands of shit on Google to chuck in as a reference. On your other point, sounds shit. Find it strange they've put a first year into Polwarth rather than actual halls. If possible join a club or something if you're interested in anything in particular, I know for example they run a six-a-side league at the sports centre that I played in. Good way to make a few more pals.
xbl
Yeah, thats a good point, why on earth aren't you in halls? How did you end up in a flat? Oh and aye, don't bother with books in first year.
Enigma
I stayed in Polwarth last year and can confirm that the sponge pads are still there. I thought Polwarth was due for demolition this year actually, well that was what residential services told us when we asked if we could extend our stay into the summer for a few days. Lying gits. Residential services are all unreasonable c**ts. That Cathy Broadfoot is the worst, a complete cow. I think it was her that gave me a big b*****d fine.

xbl
You got fined for being a big b*****d? Not a million miles away actually, threw someone through a window, which I suppose is a bit b*****dish...
Adam
How much did you get fined for that?! Anyway, I start back a week on Monday. I'm mentoring this year in my spare time so I'm working with some of the new starts next week. Have to give a speech too, where I'll be telling them about the good/bad side of uni. I'm a dreadful public speaker so the thought of speaking in front of 100+ students is absolutely terrifying.
Broken Algorithms
Residential services are all unreasonable c**ts. That Cathy Broadfoot is the worst, a complete cow. Ha! I remember the time we went to a party down in Spittal Hill when residential services turned up and hauled everyone out claiming we had 90 people in there. 40 at the maximum!

renton
Surely not? Sure this came up before, it wasn't even a good movie as I recall. I'd excuse smothering someone to death for talking through balde runner but I think it was Free Willy 3 or something!

Jambomo
Well today was my last day at work. Uni starts (Well Freshers week) for me on Monday. Back to student life again!
Guest honestrae95
Been at Uni since Friday and I absolutely love it! Been on it since I arrived and my livers already taking revenge. Went to the Law induction thing this morning while absolutely hammered from the Scott Mills gig. Thankfully there was quite a few of us who were still drunk. Two of my four flatmates are always up for a good night, the other two are painfully quiet. I've made loads of friends with others from QM as well though, so theirs always somebody about to head to the campus or that with. So aye, Uni's great!
jmothecat
Manned a Fresher's stall for the first time today, actually quite enjoyed it. Ended up acquiring a Yes Scotland and a Better Together pen, started giving the Yes pen to people with Better Together badges/stickers and vice versa just to be contrary. First time I've ever spent much time at a Fresher's Fair, mainly shocked by the sheer number of far-left political groups Glasgow has. Marxists, Socialists, Trotskyists, Socialist workers and one which just had a huge poster criticising Tory 'Scum'. I got the impression they really despise each other, almost felt like there were the People's Front of Judea alongside the Judean People's Front.
Lisa Cuddy
I start back on Monday. I've still only got half my timetable for two of the units I've got a vague idea that there's supposed to be another unit starting next week as well. There was one up on our VLE last week, complete with last year's lectures on it, though it seems to have vanished. Standard.
Lexi Collector
Overheard a group of plukey freshers talking about how they'd shagged f**k loads of burds last week. Hahahaha, arseholes.
