There's a bit more going on in Esbjerg than Haslev. For instance it's half four on a Saturday and there are no cafes open and only two pubs for 14,000 people. No sports teams either. The Danes are good people but they're not the friendliest. The bulk of socialising goes on behind closed doors and even at sports events it's hard to start conversations.

I'm off to Albania to manage a hostel for a while. It's currently rated 97% on Tripadvisor and 9.8/10 on Hostelworld, so the only way is down. Certainly the 100% rating for staff will take a bit of a doing.

The women in Tirana are phenomenal. You know how you walk down the street in Scotland and you get 2 stunners out of 100? Albania is the exact opposite. Without exaggeration. The woman on the till at the supermarket, the barmaid, the bank teller, the woman next to you in the taxi queue, all stunners.

You will marry an Albanian woman. Guaranteed.

You forgot the policewomen. At first I just thought there were a lot of strippers.

What album?

"Lou Reed" and then Coney Island Baby. The latter is one of those albums that gets better after each time you listen to it.

I'm more of a Velvet Underground fan tbh. Transformer is his only solo album I've listened to.

Sitting in a bar in Kyiv, went out for a smoke and there was a guy wearing a St.Mirren training top. There's me bold as brass strolling up saying "Awryt mate where ye fae" and he replies "I don't understand" in Russian. I had to tell him they were a team from Scotland, he had no idea. f**k knows why he's wondering about Khreschatyk street at half 11 on a Saturday night with that on.

I'd highly recommend Coney Island Baby and New York, both phenomenal albums. New York is much more similar to Transformer but CIB is different to anything else he's done.
