Us older ones can easily remember Opel Manta, the flying machine of it's time! Vauxhall Astra was an Opel Kadet. All wee very common in early/mid 80's

Also the Opel Corsa came first, before we got the name when Corsas replaced the Nova as the small car in the range.

I'd always thought Opel's were nasty, forrin, knock-off Vauxhall's. Not seen one since I was about 8 though, I don't think.

Were they ever made in Vauxhall Liverpool/London? Or have they just plucked an English place name out of a hat?

One of a huge list of auto manufacturers around the world who were gobbled up at one time or another, or their failed name rights purchased, by another brand or group. Vauxhall produced its own cars 1903-1925, when GM bought them. About 1980, GM started rebadging Opels as Vauxhalls. Bedford was GM/Vauxhalls commercial division from 1930, and GM unloaded Vauxhall to Peugeot in 2017, which became Stellantis now.

As for production, until 1905, production was in Vauxhall, London, but still mainly marine engines and pumps, when they moved auto production to Luton.

My brother's first car was an Opel Kadett.  Just like this one, same colour and everything:

Absolute heap of shite.

Opel badged Chevrolet Chevette…piece of shite is too good a term for it. Had a ‘78 that caught fire on the freeway due to a transmission fluid leak after months of it smoking and trying to fix it several times.

Toyah Wilcox is on House of Games this week. She's had her face done and looks like a Riddler,

You've not seen the home videos of songs that she does with her husband or her face wouldn't be the only thing you'd be contemplating the plasticity of.

Had my third chemo session today. Feeling a bit knackered and the hair loss continues but otherwise no real side effects. Going for a CT scan on Monday as we're at the halfway point in the treatment.

Im on holiday just now, just arrived in Tampa last night and the flight was delayed, my wee boy was upset and feeling a bit sick (hes 5) and we had to drive through to Orlando, essentially 3 hours later than planned. We were singing in the car to keep him in a decent mood and obviously as we got closer to Disney the songs kinda went along those lines. We had about a mile to go and saw all the road signs ‘disney next exit’ etc and a billboard for the ride ‘Seven Dwarfs Mine Train’ with the caption ‘Heigh Ho’. This in turn inspired me to sing the song ‘Heigh ho’ for the last few minutes of the journey, we pulled into the car park of the hotel, really decent wee hotel, the drury plaza, im getting the luggage out of the boot and the wee man out the car, still sub consciously whistling the song. I look up and theres a couple of people looking at me, theyre not chuffed, they appear to be people with dwarfism. The hotel it turns out is hosting ‘the little people of america’ convention this week and ive shown up inadvertently being offensive as f**k, im pretty much convinced im going to get jumped now and feel fucking terrible.

Sounds like a lead up to a “would you rather fight 100 rat sized elephants or one elephant sized rat” question.

A few years ago I was visiting a factory and passed a loading bay where a forklift driver was struggling to get stuff back onto a pallet that had slipped off the forks.

"Can I give you a hand?" says I,  just at the exact same moment I realised the reason he was struggling was he only had one arm.

Was it the guy from Def Leppard?
