Gigs

Nerina Pallot was fantastic (as always) at St Luke’s in Glasgow on Wednesday. First time I’ve been to a gig there, brilliant venue. I was down near the front, but moved before the encores to get a photo from the back of the ex-church. You can only glimpse the top of her napper 😊 as she’s sat at the piano singing ‘Sophia’, always closes her gigs with that. Hopefully someone else I like plays there soon. Really atmospheric place with great acoustics.

Never managed to get a ticket the last time. Better luck this year lads

An unusual headliner/support combination. Wouldn't have the biggest Venn diagram of mutual interest (although I guess they were both relevant at the same time).

The new Paramore album is influenced by Bloc Party says Hayley Williams (nme.com)

Not sure I'm wild about seeing Bloc Party without Matt and Gordy but needs must

Goodbye Mr MacKenzie tomorrow night at The Liquid Rooms. Last time I saw them was just before lockdown and they were immense so should be good.

Thought they were pretty decent tonight, Big John Duncan was on form as well, especially with The Way I Walk.

Yeah they were really good, first time we’ve managed to get up on the balcony for a gig at The Liquid Rooms and it was an excellent view. Only down side for me was they never done Green Turn Red my fav Goodbye Mr MacKenzie song but otherwise was good.

This made me laugh.

Glad The Cure were good too, though. The stuff I've read about this tour has been overwhelmingly positive, and the setlists have all been unreal. Cannot fucking wait for them (and The Twilight Sad) at the Hydro soon-ish.

I’m looking forward to The Cure, I didn’t really like the last gig at Bellahouston Park but we were miles from the stage and the weather was honking. Been looking at some of the footage on YouTube from recent gigs in Europe and they look immense, set lists of 20 odd songs so should be a cracking gig.

I'm same, seen the three times, the last being at Bellahouston Park. The weather was fuckin' dreadful and I myself was honkin' drunk way more than I should have been or intended to be, for that gig.

Inside at the Hydro will be special. Saw them at Wembley Arena in December 2016, which was quite honestly one of the best gigs I've ever been to.

This will be my 4th time too. My first two were early 80’s at The Playhouse in Edinburgh, one was the Pornography tour and can’t remember the other.

We were minging at Bellahouston too , we booked a Hotel in the city centre and me and the Mrs got lost walking back and had to get an Uber that cost me £33. Turned out we were walking in totally the wrong direction 🙄

For anyone who's into The Who...

My band, The Substitutes, are playing at The Old Hairdressers, Renfield Lane, Glasgow on Saturday 12th November...

Been told a few times we're more authentic than 'Who's Next' or 'Who's Who'...come decide for yourself...

I've got Damnation/Salvation in two weekends, really looking forward to seeing We Lost The Sea, Wolves in the Throne Room, Godlfesh (again), Pig Destoyer and Converge.

The trains are going to be shite, but I can just about do it, I think.
