Pizza is American and Italians with their 300 combinations that boil down to mozzarella, a leaf and one of their many indistinguishable meats can ram it. Pizzas absolutely should include things like spicy chicken, jalapeños, black pudding, donner meat and chips. They're just entirely different versions of the same idea. The most interesting and genuinely good pizza I've had was roasted pear, gorgonzola, and walnut (IIRC), on a red onion/fig sauce base, from the pop-up bar Bute Brewing Co. had on Rothesay before the pandemic.
