With respect, I haven’t seen much if anything from Shanley to suggest he’s going to offer a lot at championship level. I do therefore think a loan signing is needed in that position (to cover for Maciver being unavailable if nothing else).

Oliver out of Hanley and McKenna was the only one to really impress overall. Shanley looks overweight and is possibly snatching at chances.

He definitely looked better when he signed than he does now which is surprising.

McKenna admittedly is playing catch-up but as the new striker he should've been taking the chance he got yesterday and getting off the mark rather than tee-ing up Nesbitt for a hat-trick! I thought that was poor decision making but he gets the benefit-of-the-doubt.

Oliver might not score a lot but he is a very clever player with his movement and link-up.

Quite right . Actually fss in my opinion should hold a poll every Monday where fans can vote on the side mcglynn has to pick on the following Saturday. We're putting the cash in after all 👍

Careful, there will be some moon howlers that think you are being serious.

“I like to get beyond the striker. I like to play just behind the striker and get shots off on goal.

"My role probably is a specialist one and I like to be in that final third making an impact.”

Midfielder on paper but self-admittedly someone who wants to get goals.

My point still stands.

There's something weird about that transfer. It seems to be generally discussed that West Ham have no intention of him actually playing for them and are loaning him right back out

Apparently they never announced the signing. He's been a bit of a cult player with the fans just because of the weirdness of the whole thing.

They are now amused that there's a chance he's actually playable

Didn't Ebbsfleet do this at one point?

Yeah, they sold the entire club to online shareholders (myself included) and there were polls on most things.  However, a lot of them were x, y, or leave it to the manager.  Even then they stopped doing it so often as it was impractical.

Any update on when this book is going to show up? Would be handy if I could pick it up at Stenny game or QP if necessary.

Apologies, but we’re in the hands of the printers: they’re saying round about the first August , but we are pushing them to get it earlier. It’s been in their hands for almost 8 working days now.

On the MacIver debate...i can't help comparing him to someone like Lyndon Dykes...when he was at QotS, Dobbie scored a barrelload, obviously a great finisher and would get goals in most teams, but having Dykes alongside him made a huge difference in occupying defences, holding the ball up, playing other people in. Not saying MacIver has as high a bar as Dykes, but am sure Morrison and Nesbitt aren't getting the number of goals they got last season if it wasn't for MacIver.

I always say this about Agyeman, if he could cross a ball and shoot he wouldn't be playing with us.

Same goes with McIver, he's a striker however his greatest qualities are his hold up play. If he was a top finisher he wouldn't be playing with us either.

MacIver.  Firstly I realise my opinion is worth nothing other than to me and I really do trust McGlynn knows what he is doing.

Ross seems to be like marmite, some love him and will automatically leave a red dot on this post, some are on the fence but a minority, like me, just don't get it.  We have four or five in our team that could dribble past a number of defenders and batter the ball in the top corner.  Ross isn't one of them.  To me he is not really a striker.  Good to have at corners and tap ins sure but if there was a great chance in the box requiring a bit extra skill, he would be way down my list for that.

In my admitedly simplistic view, we need an out and out centre forward to spearhead with someone like Ross behind him to continue what he is good at, holding up, distributing, etc.

I appreciate Ross's great contribution to our invincible season, the goals he did get, his part in enabling others to score, he truly gave his share.  I am dubious though his style of "forward" will be as valuable in the Championship where the standard of defences is that bit better.

Maybe it's down to personal taste, showing my age, I adore Pink Floyd but I have always thought the Rolling Stones were laughable.

Cant believe we've seen MacIver for a whole season and we still have people questioning his contributions in this team.

You can believe it now
