Of course hotels have been such a money spinner for Scottish clubs... I think Killie are the only club who have made a success of it? Part of our troubles came from our owner being involved in financing hotels at the likes of Livingston and East End that never materialised. And while the Kelpies does draw a bizarrely high number of visitors considering there isn't that much there for tourists, I can't see a hotel with spa/leisure facilities (which are expensive to build and maintain - there is a reason it's only usually big chain brands which can charge large amounts per room have them) being a goer at the Stadium site.

If you look around Falkirk district there is a good few things to see i.e. pineapple. kelpies wheel etc the trouble is the area hasnt been marketed right we are 30 mins from Glasow and Edinburgh as far as 5 star hotels go you have MacDonal Inchyra and Airth castle then you have the Hannigan ones which no sure what rating they are but for a hotel location i wouldnt say it was great as you pretty much have an industrial estate and next to a main road.  See what the plans are tomorrow no doubt

The template of how such takeovers can be beneficial is to look what McCann did with Celtic. 1. Achievable business plan. 2. The financial clout to deliver. 3. Sound financial and managerial discipline to achieve the business plan objectives. 4. Upfront with the support what will be taken out the club once in profit.

It was a rare bit of good fortune that Celtic had a fan with the business head on him to deliver. Not popular at the time but boy - did he deliver.

So for Falkirk.

New 4th stand - hotel - leisure/spa  complex - Tourist hub could be they way they see the money coming in.

It has been proved that a winning Falkirk team will get the fans coming and as serial under achievers we still get attendances larger than some premier league teams.

So lets give the new owners the chance to prove themselves to the support, not only what they say but also what they do. Don't pre judge positive or negative.  That's fair surely !

As a matter of interest who actually owns the land and access on which this wonderful fourth stand/hotel/casino/luxury spa/3 Michelin star restaurant is to be built?

The club own that particular area of the east side to a particular boundary, which I believe is just passed the edge of where the new training pitch is being built.

I agree it's not the best location for a posh hotel, but a spa and leisure centre wouldn't necessarily have to be directly connected. No reason why you couldn't have the leisure centre under a 4th stand, and a more appropriate budget motel type place adjacent if there's land available. This is what TNS have under their stand outside Oswestry. https://www.gotothevenue.com/

I wouldn't copy their design but one feature is a balcony by the club bar where you can watch the game and have a sly smoke if you aren't spotted. Some safe standing instead of the gazebo would be nice.

What about the land that the old fives pitches are on, who owns that? Drive past them daily and they're in a poor state and not being used so maybe some development there.

Currently that’s Council owned/maintained (or not maintained as the case may be). As soon as we started renting out the main pitch they stopped putting any money or effort into keeping the 5s pitches going. I think they would have lost a lot of income from the Foundation switching from the 5s pods to the main pitch and Woodlands.

We were there last July. The balcony is very reminiscent of the one that Spartans / Edinburgh City have at Ainslie Park.

The cladhan hotel done away with their function suite to build more rooms, there can be a lack of hotel rooms around Falkirk according to another hotel.

We were told recently that the Foundation had proposed building the new training pitch in that location but it had been knocked back by the 'Stadium owners'.*

* I'm fairly certain that's what was said - maybe land owners?

Thanks, wasn't sure if it was ours or not.

I'm sorry to stick my beak in again and obviously you're in no obligation to take my word for it but I urge you not to take his lies at face value at this arranged meeting on Monday. He will tell you exactly what you want to hear knowing that he can't reasonably be asked to provide proof. Unfortunately most fans will fall for it. I just hope for your sake your board are savy enough to do a thorough due diligence. Best of luck.

Bit patronising to say most fans will fall for it. Falkirk fans have more reasons than most to be sceptical given our ownership history. I would trust the fans more than our current board to see past any bullshit.
