vikingTON
Fortunately the most likely buyers have now slithered into an even more disreputable deal by their own laughable standards at Sevco. Bullet dodged. -
jagfox
Dougie will be raging when he realises it is the 21st century rather than the 60s when 50k was a lot of money in anyones book. This has reminded me of his tragic pre match speech before the vital 2-2 draw at Csppielow last season. Great feeling
Gaz FFC
50k for the Morton superstar eh. Didn't one of yous tell me he loved it at Morton and would leave for 6 figures minimum? It just shows how little Morton are respected down south. Players seem to be worth a limit based more on which club they're at rather than how good they are.
DomDom
Okay. 1) The fee accepted has been covered many times. Please keep up. Thanks. 2) I'd imagine teams down south have zero respect for the vast majority of clubs up here. That last line... I'll wait for you to take a second chance at actually turning it into a coherent sentence before answering.
AMMjag
Without doubt he's worth more than 50k considering the value of other players on the market (just take a look at the amount Falkirk got for a couple of losers who are now rotting away in England). But with or without him, it was always going to be very difficult for Morton to win the league, probably moreso than last year considering the loss of other good players. In short, 50k is better than nothing, especially seeing as this is shaping up as a nothing season for Morton. They were never in a strong position to bargain for much more.

It's not exactly a nothing season with the financial incentive of being on the play-offs. Getting to the final will be worth a considerable amount of money to a team like us, and that's on top of the vastly improved prize money on offer. £50k for a player of Tidser's quality seems like a terrible deal in this respect.

It seems to be a choice of taking £50K now or losing him for nothing in January. Still think McKee will be a more than able replacement.

Still think McKee will be a more than able replacement. We wouldn't lose him until the end of the season, with respect to any play-off contention. That said, it is quite important for the club to establish itself as a place where players can drop to from larger origins, better themselves and get a reasonable move for a fee. Rae has just been incompetent, as usual, when it comes to negotiating transfers. Unless Chris Templeman is worth 1.6 Michael Tidsers in terms of performance and ability. vikingTON
Business achievement #1: not spending £30,000 on Iain Diack. Thus concludes the concise list of reasons why any punter on the street is better qualified to run a football club than Douglas Rae. Thanks for playing anyway.

vikingTON
Div will be sending a teaching assistant in soon. Between their assistance and that of your carer, we might just get a sensible, not at all seething post from you this year. Or just cart you off to the seaside league forum.
jagfox
Dear Fun with Facts, I said to a Morton fan that Shuggie Murray has won more first division titles than Morton F.C. have in the 21st century. Could you please confirm who is correct on this specific point. Kind regards, jf Edited June 29, 2013 by jagfox
vikingTON
Fun with Facts does not process requests, particularly those from zero-pointers like yourself. Unlucky.
