Big Rangers Administration/Liquidation Thread - All chat here!

the club was sold according to the insolvency specialists involved, both bdo and duff and phelps say it was sold with the assets of oldco, the experts know better than you, it differs from the gretna situation in the most obvious of fashions, no one bought gretna or ardrie - the situations are totally different

Why does it not appear on the bill of sale?

i know they werent liquidated, i was pointing out the stupidity of another posters pay your debts and you will be considered the same club argument - which is based on nothing and makes no sense - Dundee, Motherwell or Livingston didnt pay their debts, therefore according to the other posters logic they cant be considered the same club

I've got sympathy for this argument. Tackling this in terms of the morality involved in dumping debt, leaves a lot of difficulty for anyone wanting to mount a defence of Dundee for offering 6p in the pound.

What was it though? What was that thing that is a club?

With Gretna, surely Raydale Park was acquired by someone, enabling Gretna 2008 to play there now?

I'm not claiming any expertise here - I clearly lack any. The difficulty still resides with this idea of a club/company divorce when in football, they're synonymous.

yawn - you keep coming out with this, but provide nothing to back it up, i am happy to acknowledge any new club evidence provided

all that i have seen in the last 4 years are newspaper headlines and ex players statements, you dont have anything else

Exactly. You refuse to acknowledge any evidence pre 2012 that confirm club & company were the same. Even your chairman stated the very fact.

Your continual lies do you no credit. The answer is right there in front of you which no one can deny, but you'd rather lie your way out of it.

Pleased with Stephen Thompson's statement, the man has proved a better football businessman in my eyes than his dad.

But times have changed, and a successful season on the park, with true competition, excitement and drama, might offer a new dawn for us!

He's awesome....

The new dawn is coming.

Serious question, what do folk hope to achieve from this old club/new club debate?

Let's say hypothetically you proved that this was a brand new club.  What would it achieve?  would it have any impact on Scottish football going forward?

Is it not a better debate to have how we can improve the game/the competition in Scotland?

I believe there is a thread for that, maybe even a whole sub forum.

I've often wondered that myself, why would people continue to spend £tens of thousands every year in an attempt to prove that Rangers aren't Rangers.

Perhaps aofjays or dull ken can explain it all...

It might make it quite clear that when you overspend utterly recklessly, the consequences can include losing your club and all its history entirely.

And therefore in a kind of "pour encouragement les autres" way, rein in future overspending and a more realistic and balanced sport would emerge.

Tens of thousands?

Proof please.

it doesn't cost a penny to point out the facts that the old club died.

Proof? We all watched it happen.

Mind you, the hilarity of watching all the retrospective wriggling to deny the death of Rangers 1872 with ever more bizarre leaps of logic, is worth a few bob of anybody's money

Hope their 'new dawn' arrives through Dundee sending them down, that would be just smashing, even for an outsider looking in!

Their protests on periscope were quite amusing, we told them that we'd pass them on the way back up.
