Serious question, what do folk hope to achieve from this old club/new club debate?

Let's say hypothetically you proved that this was a brand new club.  What would it achieve?  would it have any impact on Scottish football going forward?

Is it not a better debate to have how we can improve the game/the competition in Scotland?

Seethe.  Epic, vast, almost incalculable volumes of seethe. Sevco fans aren't interested in football or competition, they only want to be told they are the biggest, bestest, loudest and most successful compared with anyone else (or just celtic would do).  If they couldn't brag about the club they want to be the same but demonstrably isn't, being the best then they'd melt away like snow aff a dyke.

Also as a bonus it would serve as a warning that you can't just cheat the taxman, the league, the game and the country, walk across a bridge, shove all your troubles into a tesco bag with a couple of bricks and throw it in the river, only to miraculously appear at the other side, still exactly the same but oh so completely different.

Don't care if this is two or even three separate arguments or not but, if they relinquished the baubles that they cheated to receive and made a bit of an effort to repay the creditors they shafted and repair the damage they caused then they could call themselves Susan for all I care. But they haven't and they won't so they can get themselves to f**k.

I've often wondered that myself, why would people continue to spend £tens of thousands every year in an attempt to prove that Rangers aren't Rangers.

Perhaps aofjays or dull ken can explain it all...

the most pleasing part about it is that they will never, ever succeed in their goal of stripping rangers of their titles and giving them to the smellies. it will never happen. never.

Hopefully ya'll will come to terms with the fact that Glasgow Rangers FC, 1872, 54 league titles and counting are very much alive, always have been, always will be, and are soon going to retake their place atop the scottish game, bitchslapping all the wee clubs back into obscurity where they belong. And they can continue to howl at the moon and say the Old firm doesnt benefit scottish football, maybe one day theyll see that Inverness v St Mirren attracts about 4,000 global viewers.

When I read this the narrator of my mind spoke in a Winston Churchill voice.

There was mileage in the 'new club' argument four years ago.  The, 'What actually constitutes a club?' question was one that was perfectly reasonable to ask and have answered.  That it was rightly re-examined after the LNS enquiry 3 years ago was, again, perfectly fair.

However, having declared us a new club, the posters on here then destroyed any credibility their argument had by treating us as if we are the same club.  If they truly believed that we're a new club then they should have, largely, ignored us instead of starting dozens of threads and making tens of thousands of posts about us.

So, it WAS an important question but it has been answered by the actions of the 'new club' zealots who daily disprove their claim.

I believe that the fraud trial will provide the definitive answer.

Each and every P&D who posts about us with such passion provides the definitive answer.

It's quite reasonable to dislike both the old club and the new one if you choose to see it that way.

The fact that the trappings remain the same and we're talking about the same followers, following for the same reasons, means that disliking both clubs - or as I see it, both versions of the same one - is perfectly sensible and consistent.

For me, it's not that important a question, but I think it's massively so for guys like Nacho who drag us back to it most weeks.

It is interesting though, in terms of the light it shines on why people support Rangers and why for so many, that history of dominance is terribly important.

I'm more bothered by title stripping than I am by continuity, because the real injustice concerns the trophies Rangers are still able to claim, even though they deliberately broke the rules in a sustained way in winning them.

Why's Nacho so fixated? I think that the insecurity surrounding continuation, is absolutely towering for some Rangers fans.

There is no insecurity bud, we have just been getting told for four years we are a new club. However, the majority of us tend to correct the person who says this by reminding them that FIFA, UEFA, SFA, SPL, ASA, and countless others have told us otherwise. We also see a variety of identical cases throughout world football in which the club in question isnt referred to as a new club.

The argument would have great credibility should Rangers have ceased to be a footballing team, they did not, and we go on. Sadly, it seems a lot of fans of other clubs continue to be bitter to extreme levels because of the fact Rangers are and always will be the biggest club in this country.

Does supporting the biggest club in the country mean a lot to you?
