Can our next signing be a f**k off big bird of prey to let loose on the sea gulls?

That time one got hit by the ball in a friendly against Hibs was one of the few memorable or interesting things to ever have happened at a preseason game.

Was that the same game Jason Talbot got sent off?

By the way, where’s this version of Lewis McCann been hiding? He finished last season very strongly. Then tonight, he played out wide first half and was very effective, had a great shot that hit the post and was causing the defenders problems.

Second half he played through the middle and had good runs in behind, good linkup play, beat defenders a few times, went on a few good runs and almost got a goal at the end. He was nutmegging defenders and everything tonight. Hopefully we see more of this and he goes on to fulfil that potential. Always looked such a raw talent and seemed to stagnate a bit, never really progressed. But he’s powerful, quick and good with the ball at his feet. Got the makings of a very good attacker.

Hes not Matty Todd though. Todd looked like he was match fit, certainly didn’t look like he hadn’t kicked a ball for months. Some boy. He’s so important for us and has 100% earned that number 10 shirt.

Quite enjoyed that tonight. A few mistakes/bad touches and passes brought them back into it (although their goal was a great finish) but it certainly didn't look like there was a division between the two sides. Aware that St Johnstone fans are a bit worried about their squad, but ours does need bolstering as well and still looked comfortably in the game for the whole 90. Think a draw was probably a fair result given the chances that both teams missed in the end.

Thought pretty much everyone had at least a decent game, but a wee shout to Andrew Tod. He continues to impress me every time I see him.

Fenton as well looked very comfortable when he came on, barring THAT challenge. Encouraging signs all round.

I mind last season he was out injured for a bit and his first game back was as a sub in the Christmas Eve game at Kelty.

When he came on he was trying tricks and stuff I'd never seen him do before. He just got better from there.

If McCann can just convert a few more chances then I would be very happy indeed, but he did look very good tonight.

He was really starting to come onto a game before he did his hammy away at Clyde, remember everyone being concerned at the time as it only left an unfit Wighton and Todorov as the options up front (Ohara injured by this point)

My thoughts on the game tonight and the squad as a whole atm.

Has anyone else noticed Mehmets distribution improving recently? Seems as though McPake/ staff are encouraging him to find the wing backs rather than hoofing it up the park, he's rarely misplaced one from what I've seen of the 3 friendlies.

Otoo in midfield is a no from me, he's much more comfortable at LCB or LWB and starting from deep with the ball. Fisher looked solid enough tonight and hope his injury is nothing serious, he was about to come back on when McPake told him not to so obviously not wanting to take any unnecessary risks. Breen was very rusty but understandable given he's coming back from a bad injury.

Great to see MT10 aka bane from the dark night back on the pitch and similar to Breen thought he was a bit rusty but had a couple of decent moments.

Hammy was brilliant tonight and think it's going to be a huge season for him, wasn't as effective last season but that was more down to the fact teams never really came at us all that much. His tenacity and break up play in midfield will be really important this season.

I personally think Gowser is worth a 1 year deal (ideally on peanuts) as he'd definitely be a good squad player for us.

Agree with others about McCann, he was brilliant tail end of last season and hope he kicks on in the championship.

Lastly, does anyone see what Paul Allan offers? IMO he's just not good enough for Dunfermline.

I think the 2 friendlies against Cove and Saints summarise perfectly where we are, solid enough defensively and a decent core in the middle but desperately lacking in the forward areas. I really hope the injury to KRH is nothing serious.

The young trialist was definitely an impressive addition in the second half, before he came on the game had swung in their favour. His put through for McCann was possibly our best individual set of play. Would definitely be happy if we add him as a squad addition it’s not that we have a huge amount of options/ backup.

Anyone heard anything on KRH injury? Seen someone on the Pars Community Facebook page say that they’ve “heard he’s out for a few months” 😬

Not heard anything but that's pretty disheartening if true. Reckon he'd have torn them apart today if he'd been fit.

Gary Mackay-Steven was apparently there last night.

Hoping its more a you signing than an us signing.

Wasn't really for it but he's done enough to show that he could be a useful player. No doubting his talent. If he is back up for Matty Todd or covering the deeper midfielders then he can be a good squad signing.
