Here Come The Sons
The financial argument against extra accommodation can be shot down straight away. Every club in League 1 and 2 did it based on 2 games at their gate prices. We have 6 guaranteed games at Championship gate prices. Financial no brainer. Even a few grand is a tidy sum when multiplied by 6.
Howlin' Wilf
If the cost of supplying seats is greater than £20 per head it seems odd that other clubs did it. Anyway no necessity for seats. As to the temporary terracing being rejected on Health and Safety grounds do Fife and Aberdeensire operate under different laws ? There is no legal reason that I am aware of that would prevent temporary accomodation. The Council do have a certain discretion when it comes to planning though and that is probably where the idea that it is the Council who are being difficult comes from.It would also be a logistical challenge and to make it worthwhile the club would have to make a decent amount on it. There would be no point in doing it for the sake of a couple of thousand pounds. I understand there were concerns about Peterhead and East Fife's arrangements from supporters and that several inspections were passed by skins of teeth. There were many complaints from fans about the safety, particularly at Peterhead. However that is not the main concern, it is the planning which would have to be passed before any other consideration. In these days of health and safety being a major concern it did strike me as odd that some grounds have perfectly good areas of terracing closed for minor safety concerns and East Fife and Peterhead were allowed to have thousands of fans stood on scaffolding. As for the comparative of costs with other clubs, East Fife had a level open area to construct scaffolding, Ditto Peterhead. Dumbarton would have to undertake considerable ground work and movement of fences.....if it looked likely that planning would be granted...... The cost I've heard for a roll on roll off seating config is £14 per seat. My estimate of £20 included the inevitable extras that come with that. Anyway, we'll just have to wait and see if DFC can get something arranged.

Even a few grand is a tidy sum when multiplied by 6. I was about to post the same. The quoted 14 quid per head, is based on two games, a lot of that cost would be reduced, per game, due to the fact we are looking at getting use of a stand for 6 games. The fence only needs moved once, the ground only needs secured once, planning only needs to be applied for once etc etc. I'm not sure what the real reason behind what looks likely to be a lack of a temporary stand is. I do agree with others, in that I think it's a bit weird that our board can't seem to make it work financially, when others have done the same thing, despite only have 2 big home games, when we'll have, at least, 6.

Can we afford to leave temp stands up for the full season? Wouldn't we have to hire the materials and equipment for it? I assumed we'd have to construct it on 6 seperate occassions rather than leave it up all season. Wasn't Stenny's just a big lorry type set up with seats that effectively folded out? Can't say it's my specialist subject so I may well be wrong.
Jan Vojáček
Pretty unimportant but Falkirk are looking into putting up a temporary stand. I don't want it tbh, the less Sevco fans in the stadium the better.

The stand would have to be put up and taken down six times. We're hardly going to go to the expense of hiring it for the whole season. If you know it's a financial no brainer perhaps you could post the figures

Falkirk did as well. Glagow warriors were another.

Here Come The Sons
Apologies for the shorthand. Every club in Leagues 1 and 2 with a restricted capacity like ours put in additional accommodation. Obviously Queens Park, Clyde, Rangers, Airdrie, Ayr Utd, Dunfermline, Elgin, Stirling Albion etc didn't have to due to their existing capacities.

sons'r'us
Recreation Park is on a main thoroughfare with plenty of parking. And your point is? If you had read my post properly you would see it was in response to someone suggesting it may have to be erected and dismantled 6 times.
Nowhereman
Alloa have a 516 capacity temporary stand up permanently or at least have done for the last few years. You can't really have a temporary stand permanently. It's either one or the other. Alloa have had that stand for many years. It was part of the refurbishment of their ground and there is no intention to remove it at some point in the future. It's completely different to what is being suggested at the Rock.

Yes but the stand is by virtue of its construction a temporary structure. My only point was that a temporary stand could be erected for the whole season and not dismantled and re-erected each time we use it.

My only point was that a temporary stand could be erected for the whole season and not dismantled and re-erected each time we use it. That's true. I highly doubt that the club would want to go to such an expense though. It wouldn't just be the stand. It would be new boundaries, turnstiles, toilets etc. The Alloa stand is within the existing ground. Ours wouldn't be. The only really comparable ground is East Fifes
Sweet Pete
Right then Paddy you are only the 2nd pie and bovriller sons fan that has offended me on this forum. The other being Swete Pete. Nothing cryptic about my post at all, so im a wee bit confused there. It wasn't me that said the council were to blame nor the club, it was you. I merely suggested that that was a bit of a smoke screen. I thought i made it quite clear when i said where there was a will there was a way. Have you considered from the club's statement that as it appears to be quite difficult to achieve the aim of providing temporary accomodation that perhaps they just didn't have that will to make it happen. Maybe hibs going down has swayed that a bit and they are now pulling out all the stops to try and make it happen. Your username isn't immediately familiar to me and I can't remember having a disagreement with you, but if I have offended you in the past then good.
johnny graham
It's been a lovely day. Perfect for a game of football. But of course there is no senior football at this time of year. Come December though we shall be sitting frozen while the lads struggle in the snow. Madness. Summer football now.

Sweet Pete
Winter is coat weather and coats are ace, so having an excuse to buy more coats and go out in them is A-ok. Summer is day out and holiday season, not for fitba.
