I left and took a drop in wages to try something new. I'm out on the road a lot, I get stressed to hell sometimes (I get put as lead engineer when there's guys with 30 years experience on the same job) and I'm just off the phone to my boss who has got the okay to put my wages up to the highest band they can without becoming a manager. I'm now going to be making more than double what I was back three years. I'm absolutely buzzing on a ship that's acting like it might go down in the North Sea the night.
